The Perfect Draft (1 Viewer)

Just for fun, (or as an act of self-punishment, take your pick) I went back and did a draft, based on my position (6th pick in a ten player league) to see how good a team I could come up, based on FBG's ADP as of 9/3. Here is the list:

Round 1: Joseph Addai

Round Two: Terrell Owens

Round Three: Tom Brady

Round Four: Brandon Jacobs

Round Five: Randy Moss

Round Six: Braylon Edwards

Round Seven: Kellen Winslow

Round Eight: Santonio Holmes

Round Nine: Kevin Jones

Round Ten: Pittsburgh

Round Eleven: Dwayne Bowe

Round Twelve: Stephen Gotkowski

Round Thirteen: Ryan Grant

Round Fourteen: Derek Anderson

Round Fifteen: Selvin Young

Looks pretty good, huh? If only...

I followed Dodds "perfect draft" to a T and I'm 2-7. My downfall was not getting Romo and having to take Leinhart.

Who would have started as your second RB? Jacobs and Jones were out for a long time combined. Grant wasn't playing during that time, and neither was Young.

Too many WRs even for a start 3 league with that up front talent (Owens, Moss, Holmes).

Very good point which I did not consider. Of course, I would have gone into the season thinking that Jacobs is my 2nd RB, then after week one I would have had to scramble around the waiver wire. Still the combo of Brady-Moss-Addai would have allowed me to win early in the year while I was scrambling...

And with 4th Pick why not take ADP? Was he not available? I know he's hurt now, but Jacobs was hurt the first 4 weeks.

What I have - What I coulda had

Bulger/Vince Young - Brady and McNabb

Maroney/ADPeterson/Sjax - Reggie Bush / Cadillac / Portis

Boldin/Calvin J/Vincent jckson/James Jones - Chad Johnson/Plaxico/Donte Stalworth

Heap/Scheffler - Cooley/ David martin...

over all, I still like the squad I have over the "coulda hads"

Well, I did this a few days ago, so I guess my main fault is I was thinking now and not about the first several weeks of the season. At this point, I'd prefer to have Jacobs going forward...

I would have taken Westbrook in the 1st, even in non PPR you could have had ADP in the 4th or even 5th

Randy Moss and Brady both went in the 2nd round in our league. Seemed like a reach at the time given that he did nothing in preseason. Moss and the PIT D in round 6 or 7 are the only things keeping his team afloat.

I followed the perfect draft, but just happened to pick the wrong damn receivers in rounds 2, 3 and 5 (C.Johnson, Harrison, Walker). I’m 5-5….

i used draft dominator in 2 leagues right after preseason. Records are 9-1 and 8-2. I REGRET not taking the advice to draft Randy Moss in the 5th round, i opted for Tony Gonzo. damnit! o well my records are best in both leagues!

Here is what I coulda had in my 10-teamer:

QB - Brady, Romo, Anderson

RB - Westbrook, ADP, Portis, LenDale

WR - Moss, Housh, Braylon, Welker, Galloway

TE - Witten, Clark

K - Bironas

D - DET

1 - Westbrook

2 - Brady

3 - Housh

4 - ADP

5 - Moss

6 - Portis

7 - Braylon

8 - Witten

9 - Romo

10 - LenDale

11 - Clark

12 - Galloway

13 - Welker

14 - Bironas

15 - DET

16 - Anderson

I'd have QB's 1, 2, and 4, RB's 1, 2, 7, and 15, WR's 1, 2, 4, 6, and 14, TE's 2 and 5, K1, and D1

There is no such thing as a perfect draft before the year starts..only after.
Along the same lines, there's no such thing as a perfect draft in week 11. We need to see what the players do during the playoffs. Having Peterson was great for half the year, but if he doesn't return, are we really better off having him instead of Braylon Edwards?

In my 10 team redraft, right now (I drafted from the 8 spot):

Jayhawks

1. (8) Brian Westbrook

2. (13) T.J. Houshmandzadeh

3. (28) Randy Moss

4. (33) Maurice Jones-Drew

5. (48) Tony Romo

6. (53) Kellen Winslow Jr.

7. (68) Jerricho Cotchery

8. (73) Adrian Peterson

9. (88) Santonio Holmes

10. (93) DeMeco Ryans

11. (108) Marshawn Lynch

12. (113) Terrence McGee (WW)

13. (128) James Harrison (WW)

14. (133) Derek Anderson (WW)

15. (148) Wes Welker (WW)

16. (153) Bobby Engram (WW)

Bolded are the players I took. I had a very nice run in the middle rounds. Henry in the 1st is hurting me right now, Gates in the 3rd isn't horrible, and the jury is out on 85 in the 2nd.

Starting Lineup would be:

QB: Romo

RB: Westbrook

WR: Moss

WR: Housh

TE: Winslow

W/T: Cotchery/Holmes

R/W: Peterson

We use 3 IDPs, but frankly, those could have been taken off the waivers without any real loss. PK would also be taken off the waivers. (note to self: next year, don't waste picks on IDP/K)

I'm in a 12 team redraft...the owner who had the 6th pick in the draft went Addai, Owens, Brady...the rest of his team is pretty weak, but, he's currently in first place and is 61.5 points ahead of me in 2nd.

Where did you draft from? I was 8th, and it also probably hurt I drafted Parker/ Henry. Not exactly TD vultures.
8th and drafted FWP as well.
Who'd you take in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th? I went Henry, Holt, Colston. Looked good early with Jordan in the 7th and then went Cutler/ Leinhart. QB play killed me.
