Master Spotify List: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/54zHnkVSUHcRBbmTMo0wXE?si=ff1783ff041c4d87

There are four songs added to master list that weren't on Spotify, which was generally a rule of inclusion. But I didn't want to leave these songs out of the countdown. Unheralded gems. Krupted Peasant Farmerz, Dancing French Liberals of '48, and Jabberwocky are all included here. X's We're Desperate, not available on Spotify, gets a YouTube link.

If you're about to count down some weird-### personal punk top 100, then I'm begging you to slow roll the hell out of it. Cuz I really wanna participate, and I just don't have the time. @AcerFC's hardcore 100 is a perfect example. Wanna follow it so bad, just can't right now.

I am making lists and checking them twice. I have no idea how this is gonna roll. Do I do an attempt at objectivity? Personal faves? Will I blend them like timschochet?

I dunno. The next few shut-in weeks should get my nose to the grindstone.

Also, I respect all lists going on right now, especially AcerFC's and LBL's, both of whom I'm following while trying to listen to all of it. So this will come after. It's a preview. Consider this opportunity like comics used to have at the San Diego Comic Con before it got too big.

Let's do this!

Coming In May...

eta* Narrator: Two Mays passed..

I'm leaning towards one hundred songs, rank-ordered, no more than one per band. You will not see four-six Sex Pistols songs in this countdown. If you came for chalk, eat it like you're at school.

Which reminds me, is Eat The Rich punk?

I tend to...

take a higher ground than fighting when it comes to Black Flag

I tend to...

sort of put myself on an elevated plane...

I try and...

just sort of look down upon it all because I think I've just gotta...

If it makes it any richer, I compiled a 200 song list last night and laughed at the responses I know it'll get.
please don't misconstrue my post as anything but gleeful anticipation ... book it

just as long as ya remember to not go past mid 80s-ish, we good  :hifive:

Houston! Houston...

we got problems.

No, seriously, I thought of a list that you might like. Then I subtracted about seventy-five percent of it.

Think I'm kidding?  :pokey:

I will handle all the post 85 punk because that is all I know
Let's just say you can pick up at about '91 because that '85-89 era is sorta...

a dead spot. Like punk was. Hell, even otb saw that and got into new wave.

I keed, I keed. Well, I'm not so sure I keed, but we haven't even hit late April yet for teasers, never mind May. Gotta keep this COVID lid sealed tight.

I look forward to it because as much as I listened to punk at various points in life, I don't know much about it or have a good base of bands outside of the protopunk and 90s, early 00s punk.

Oops :bag:

Yeah, about that nineties coming of age thing...I went through it, too.

Still shorter than it took Brian Wilson to finish Smile.
Lol. There was no black tar being done here, though. He has an excuse.

Narrator: The Beach Boys just missed the cut for this list.

Non-narrator: On the upswing, I am seriously listening to Neil's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere right now on my turntable because that album I have is so good that I don't mind leaving it on without changing it. I may order Rust Never Sleeps just because of the "Hey Hey" song (whose name I can never remember accurately) with Johnny Rotten. Maybe. If I had Spotify to screen it with, I'd do that, but alas...

It has TWO titles!

The acoustic opener is My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue). The electric closer is Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black).

Thank you! The electric closer -- which I asked you about a while back -- sounds too distorted to even really enjoy. It's the acoustic track that I listen to. Fiery stuff, even acoustic.

What could be more Punk than a list?
I was going to go with a scattershot Rorschach test to find out who was truly punk and who was merely insane, but people like neatness on this board.

List it is.

And rank-ordered, no less.

the Smiffs made it?

btw, you can pare it down by refusing any/all post '78ish Clash.

The Smiths made it? Eh, you'll have to find out.

Won't get pared down that way. I'm pretty dead set on one song per band. I'll have to check my list to see which Clash song I picked.

Another one that didn't make the list. From the nineties, actually. A Billy Childish project, the Shanks are some good old British blokes. They like to drink and fight. I seem to have outgrown both since my forty-fifth, but that doesn't mean I can't remember what it was once like.

101(a). Ambulance - Armitage Shanks
