The Spotify Thread - cause it's not 2011 anymore (1 Viewer)

If I get the subscription service do all the songs I have in all my folders get downloaded to my phone - so I don't use streaming data on my phone service?

only the songs, lists, artists you specify. Can be different for each device
Can I ask that all of them download to my phone? Have quite a few. Is there a limit other than what my device can hold? - Thanks!
Just limited by the device as far as I know.

I had heard at one point they limited the downloads to 2000 but I have never run into a problem. You can always swap them out whenever you have a Wi-Fi connection.

Thanks - this helps clarify. Just didn't want to get into having to swap out all the time.

I recently read the limit was 3k.

Goolge Play Music added a family pl an for $15 a month that allows you to add up to 6 "family members".

You also get YouTube red which getsbrid of those annoying pre-rolls.

Beatles on Spotify starting today. Wish they had a little more to the catalog beyond the base albums (no Anthology, no Live at the BBC, Let It Be Naked etc) but a good start
Thanks for the heads up.
:yucky: They're all "Remastered" tracks and sound like covers. I don't know what Remastering is supposed to do for a song, but it seems like anything I've heard on Spotify that was remastered was a close but no cigar copy.

Hi - I just purchased the Premium version and I hope someone could help me with a few things...

1. When I choose an artist to play, is there a setting where I can turn off any Christmas songs? It is irritating to be rocking out and then hear that artist's version of White Christmas.

2. When I shuffle an artist, the list usually starts with one of that artist's better songs, then after that it's nothing but crap after crap. I mean deep album cuts that nobody's ever heard of. Can I set Spotify to shuffle an artist's more popular songs?

3. Can you ask Spotify to shuffle all the artists you've searched for:

Thanks for any help

My 80 GB and 160 GB iPod Classic have died within 6 months of each other and I'm trying to make this switch. I bought an SD card for my phone so I can use the offline mode and I've signed up for premium. Since I've started playing around with offline mode, it's even glitchier than usual on the desktop app (had to uninstall/reinstall just to get it to load tonight), so far no problems on my phones though - is this typical? I know the desktop app kind of blows even when it works right.

I have a playlist I've had going for 10+ years, simply called "Favourites". It has 1200 plus songs on it now and I add stuff and remove all the time. I was able to get it to Spotify from the iTunes match whatever, but of course there were a couple hundred songs that it didn't link to properly (plus some Neil Young, etc.. that just isn't on there). I spent a few hours over the past couple nights and was able to get all the missing songs on there that are on Spotify. Tonight I pull of the playlist and there are 1325 songs on my playlist - half the songs that weren't there last night are now and so are the copies I added and so there are duplicates... WTF?

I disabled Spotify access to locally stored media.  It was more bother than it was worth when creating playlists and there are better music players than Spotify for files on your hard drives.

If I do this now, will I lose any songs from the playlists?

Contemplating dropping the Premium service, keeping the ad-filled free version of Spotify, and switching over to Apple Music.  Anyone else use AM?

Spotify down?

anyone else?

Also a big fan of the Discovery Weekly playlist. I have it downloaded on my phone and it updates regularly.

Afternoon Acousic and Acoustic Morning have been two other staples for me.

Impressive how badly Spotify went to #### on my nexus 6.worked fine 3 days ago, now keeps playing when I disconnect from a Bluetooth device, no longer appears on lock screen and cannot be controlled on my stereo in the car and plays over podcasts if I allow it to.

Wish there was a way to lock down the phone once everything is working. Grrr.

the discover weekly is a staple for me starting every monday.

fridays- they have the personalized "release radar", which is only newly released stuff by bands they think I like or might like. unfortunately, the algorithm latches onto all the junk the wife and kids listen to.

Even Psychedelic Pill?  That one was hard to locate so I gave up trying.

All free or do I need to pay?
Psychedelic Pill is there.  The obvious ones that appear to be missing are Zuma and Time Fades Away but I'm not as familiar with his recent catalog.

Might not be new... but it's new to me- just noticed the "Daily Mix". 3 different playlists for today... pretty spot on.

this Daily Mix is fantastic.

stuff from my own playlists along with similar stuff not on my playlists, compiled into what appears to be an endless playlist of continuous goodness.

only problem is that I share the account with the wife and kids, so some of the daily mixes are their crap... but at least they're segregrated

If you have a pay account, you really should do the family plan.  Only 50% more, but you can add four additional users, all with their own playlists.  If you dig the recomendations being personalized (which I do), this is a must and worth the small extra fee.

I'm in financial hypothermia... so even though I'd love it, and $10 per month isn't much, I still get plenty of joy out of the free version.

Does your Spotify stop playing music when you're reading a FBG thread and someone makes a new post in the thread?  I can't figure out how to stop this from happening on my iPhone.  Any ideas or solutions?

I use only on desktop and don't have this problem... but at a guess- turn off notifications for FBG?

I had never seen this either until I just saw your post today.  Thanks for the tip!

Can someone tell me how to apply a spotify gift card to monthly service if already a subscriber?  do I need to cancel the service and re-subscribe in some way?

Been playing the new This Is Prince station all day. Started at 8am, playing Let's Go Crazy and working straight down the hits. Just now got to Sexy M.F.

It's too bad the Prince stuff is limited to his releases on Warner Brothers.  His self-released albums from the 1990s and 2000s were sprinkled with some excellent songs and I'd love to hear some curated playlists of that material.

Also Lovesexy is all mashed together, I thought this schtick was a bust in 1988

At least they got Peach

Felt this way for years. In the days and weeks after I finally ponied up about a year ago, I was kicking myself for not doing it sooner. It is so worth it.
