Interesting movie. Not sure if I can recommend or not but it’s definitely different.

Demi does an amazing job in this one. I love gore but it seems the director of this movie found out he still had money left in the special effects budget and so he decided to make an act three just to use all that money up. :lmao:

I’ve seen it twice and I thought it was a good movie.

Director was a SHE! haha.

The gore reminded me a lot of the cult movie SOCIETY.

I thought it was pretty darn good. A weird timeline - is it the future, or is it 1983? The apartment/bathroom was such a cool set piece. Both Demi and the other lead actress were great and Quaid was perfect. I don’t really like body horror, but I felt like it really served the theme here.

Yeah that final act is crazy

Just saw it. Third act was ridiculous. If it stopped after the second, would be an OK movie, but nowhere near Oscar worthy imo. And I love odd movies, eg., Poor Things.

The last 1/3 was The Fly + Toxic Avenger with a blood machine added in for sheets and giggles. I enjoyed this movie and commend Demi Moore for going all in for the role. Don't know what I expected but it wasn't what I got. And that's a compliment. Dennis Quaid was perfect as a disgusting pig, I was revolted and laughing at the same time whenever he showed up. Good movie, imo, worth the watch.

A few things that bothered me about this movie (minor Spoilers below, I guess, but movie has been out a while now)...

- That third act was completely unnecessary. If they would've both just died at one's peak and one's worst on New Year's Eve, would've been a great ending and message.

- LOL at stitching up that wound with some shoestrings and it healing up like that.

- As an old decrepit woman she could hardly walk or bend her arthritic knees. Yet at the end she's sprinting away from an in shape 24 yr old girl up and down the hall?

- That billboard right outside her window. Why does it appear sometimes and just never there other times?

- Sue needed to whiten her teeth. Was distracting to me. Such an easy fix for a representation of a "perfect" young woman.

Shades of Reanimator and The Thing as far as the gore factor. Also Basket Case for that final act as a pure freak of nature mixed with The Thing.

I really liked this movie. A really strong Sci Fi/Body Horror flick.

Congrats to Demi on her Oscar win too.

A matter of personal taste but I thought this movie was terrible. It might have been interesting for a 20 minute short. The trope of an aging celebrity woman doing a deal with the devil to maintain her youth seems well-worn and this story added nothing for me. The presentation was trying too hard to be kitchy/clever but I didn't appreciate what the point was with the leads being famous 80's style aerobics instructors or something? The intentionally vague timelessness of the setting (the apartment, the billboard, etc.) was clever but why? The comic-book caricature agent figure played by Dennis Quaid? Just dumb and pointless imo. I like Demi Moore but didn't think this was a notable performance in any way. Based on what I'd heard, I was expecting something new and shocking with the gross-out scenes but it was just the same old stuff repackaged. Obviously a ton of plot holes and inconsistencies but I can live with that if the story is good.
