Thanks ... I had overlooked this before."FEMA remains committed to supporting disaster survivors. Our ongoing response operations, such as the individual assistance being provided to survivors of the flooding in Colorado, will not be impacted directly by a government shutdown. FEMA's response to disasters and emergencies is funded by the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF), which would not initially be affected by a funding lapse for annual appropriations."So... anyone know what FEMA looks like these days? What with the soon-to-be hurricane set to make landfall in Alabama this weekend?
The DRF is a standing fund that continues on from one fiscal year to the next, so a lapse in annual funding doesn't have an immediate impact.
Quote from FEMA spokesperson
The DRF gets money fed into it with some frequency, but it itself has also been "shut down" at times in recent years (most recently in early 2010). Doesn't really make news when it happens, though.
May end up bouncing some resume / job search questions off you guys since it's been over a decade since I've been in the market. Got a few solid leads lined up already. Thinking about taking the month of December off to unwind. Have never been without a job for more than 3 days since I was 16. In a way it's kinda nice.
This extends far past people's paychecks as well but you're either too stupid to realize that or you do and don't care. Either way, get ####ed.
