The Tea Party is back in business! (2 Viewers)

There is going to be a vote today to decide if furloughed workers will receive back pay. It is expected to pass. So basically, this is a paid vacation for Federal workers. Even if they don't have money in savings, buying necessities with a credit card would allow someone to manage through this shutdown.

Just another benefit of a government job.
You want people to go into credit card debt because their politicians are sore losers? #### you.
:lmao: Get over yourself
Maybe someone should furlough you.

Bunch of morons in washington.
How about this? Republicans agree to vote on the CR now, and raise the debt ceiling, in exchange for a conference between the two sides to discuss all issues, including the medical device tax. Obama and the Dems have already offered publicly to do this.
Didn't we try this the last time DC melted down in a fake crisis during July 2011?

3: What are Republicans giving up?
Exactly. "Funding the government" isn't a concession, or a compromise. It's something that the Republicans also want to do. If they didn't, they wouldn't be trying to shift the blame to the Democrats; they would be owning it and taking pride in it.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner tried on Friday to squelch reports that he would ease the way to a debt ceiling increase, stressing that Republicans would continue to insist on budget cuts as a condition of raising the borrowing authority.

Well, that's just ####### awesome, Boehner. There is NO way that Obama is going to agree to any budget cuts over the debt ceiling. He can't.

Why do the Republicans insist in painting themselves into a corner in which they're going to have to surrender?

Obama can sit back and let things tank and it really doesn't matter. Bad jobs report 2 months from now--"Oh the GOP caused this by the shut down"

Economy not growing 10 months from now--"Oh that shut down just derailed us."

Heck the Dems still blame Bush and that was 6 years ago. This just gave them a get out of jail card free for at least the next year..
It doesn't matter. There could be all dems in Washington and they would still blame Republicans, the media would still blame reupublicans, and half the country would still blame republicans because we have brainwashed morons in this country.

And that is what President Obama is asking for. Lets get the Govt back open then we can try to work things out, but while you are holding up the Government with this "slimdown" then you should not be rewarded for not working for the American Public
It's President Obama who was raised in a broken, dysfunctional home who was and remains to this day a willful, petulant child.

Obamacare was rammed through Congress on a strictly partisan vote using every legislative trick in the book. Who was it that said. "I won"? And you guys have the nerve to call the opposition "children"?
Well, he did win after all. Which means someone else lost. Unfortunately, they can't see that.

You know, Republicans do win elections. Sometimes even national elections. The conservative mantra of limited government remains a good one and can sell itself, when the people who are supposed to practice it aren't behaving like horse's asses, the way they are right now. You and other conservatives around here want to put the blame for this mess on the media, on the liberals, on everywhere except where it belongs- on yourselves. Stop with the extremism, move the GOP back to the center right where it belongs, and maybe the public will come around and support you again.

Meh, if no one wants to compromise we might as well see this one out. We can all point fingers over the burning wreckage.

I don't really care? The country in a very short time wont be the country you have known your entire life. The liberals are in power to help usher in the new world order, hell im sure plenty of republicans are onboard for that as well. That's some crazy talk, but its what I believe will happen soon. If I am wrong, we continue to be a country divided and things will keep sucking. Either way its a lose-lose...

Short term. Long term most of this still falls on Obama. He's the president. He's not going to escape the damage of 8 years of a crappy economy. Eras are defined by Presidents not House leaders.

You're wrong. The ultimate result of this mess is that the Presidency is going to be dominated by Democrats. Probably 8 out of the next 10. Furthermore, despite the gerrymandering, probably the Senate and House will be as well over the next few decades. Demographics (the growing Latino population among other factors) was going to help this along anyhow, but the biggest reason is that the Republican party has become extremist.

Again, the term compromise doesn't apply here.

Give me $100,000 or I'll burn down your our house.

No.

Ok. Give me $50,000 and I won't burn down your our house.

No.

Why don't you want to compromise?
Fixed.

Americans are loving the new Obamacare...

I am so disappointed, wrote one woman. These prices are outrageous and there are huge deductibles. No one can afford this! The comment received 169 likes.

There is NO WAY I can afford it, said one commenter after using the Kaiser Subsidy Calculator. Heck right now I couldnt afford an extra 10$ [sic] a monthand oh apparently I make to [sic] much at 8.55/hour to get subsidies.

Another person shared a link found on the federal governments main Obamacare page listing premium estimates for small business employers:

The information is not very complete as I dont see anything about deductible or other detailed info, but it does given an actual price as to the Premium. It is VERY SCARY!! For example, my insurance plan right now for my spouse and I costs $545 a month with 100% coverage after my $2500 deductible. We are both 32 years old. When I looked at this site for 80% coverage it says it will be $954.78 a month!!!! So compare my old Plan: 100% coverage for $545 a month To New Plan: 80% Coverage for $945 a month. This is only only an estimate but it is VERY Scary for me to see this kind of increase in rates and reduction in benefits!

A single mother of two said she is in school and working full-time while living 75% below the poverty level. She said she was shocked to learn she did not qualify for a healthcare subsidy. Are you Fing kidding me???? she wrote on the governments Obamacare Facebook page. Where the HELL am I supposed to get $3,000 more a year to pay for this bronze health insurance plan!?!??? And I DO NOT EVEN WANT INSURANCE to begin with!! This is frightening, she wrote.

People trying to only blame one side are delusional.

Republicans suck.

Democrats suck.

Obama has done nothing to try and help resolve this and we the people are the big losers.

If pointing the finger towards the other side and trying to take credit for a small victory makes you feel better about your party affiliation, so be it. It's an endless cycle where nobody comes out on top.

I don't know how you can blame Obama at all for refusing to defund Obamacare or take piecemeal fundings. If he did that he'd probably be the biggest ##### POTUS ever. He'd be going against his own centerpiece law, the ruling by the SCOTUS, and the millions of people who elected him. In sports terms it would be like the Red Sox just conceding a game 7 vs. the Yankees because the Yankees really, really want to win so bad.

My party affiliation, until around 2010, has been Republican. It does not make me "feel better" to blame the Republicans, nor I am trying to "take credit for a small victory." I ####### hate this. I hate what the Republican party has become in the last few years.

I blame the Republicans because they are very clearly the ones to blame. Obama is a Democrat whom I disagree with more often than not, but he is essentially a centrist, a moderate. The Republicans have moved to the extreme right. Ronald Reagan wouldn't even recognize them at this point. And this shutting down the government because they couldn't destroy Obamacare is simply the act of a petulant child.

Saying Peyton Manning is a better quarterback than Christian Ponder is objectively true, whether or not you're a Broncos fan. It's in equivocating and saying, "Well, they both have their strong points" that you become delusional. Same thing here.
There is no Peyton in this equation. It's christian and blaine.

I can't believe there are people out there who are actually annoyed at the fact that these employees, who were furloughed through no fault of their own, are eventually going to be paid.

The Democrats have actually already made several "compromises" already. They have:

- not insisted on creating a national gun registry as a precondition for funding the government

- not insisted on extending unemployment benefits as a precondition for funding the government

- not insisted on repealing the partial-birth abortion ban as a precondition for funding the government

- not insisted on expanding Obamacare into a single-payer, socialized health care system as a precondition for funding the government

If Republicans were willing to make any similar compromises, the shutdown would be over by now.

Ok.

How much should Obama give up to convince one house of Congress to pass a bill that funds the programs which they already passed for the next six weeks? Where is the right "compromise" to make this the fault of both of them? How many bites at this particular apple do you want to give Congress? Every month? Every other month? Every other week?
Don't ask for details of the "let's blame both sides" crowd. They don't want to delve into this too deeply.

Ignoring whether you think the ACA is good or not, this has been a horrible move by republicans.

At some point the normal republicans need to take their party back from the wackos rather than letting them drive the ship.

No differnt than if some left wing faction of dems were shutting down the govt to end deep sea drilling.

This is killing their party. They republicans are going to get crushed in the mid terms if this keeps up.

Are republicans breaking any laws or rules?

The house voted on something that the senate rejected and vice versa. Isn't the only acceptable solution that they come to a compromise? Isn't that how it is supposed to work? That isn't how it works as a parent. You don't need to find middle ground.

Politics is completely different than parenting, and should be.

Fifty-seven House Democrats have broken ranks with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer to vote with Republicans to fund parts of the government like veterans programs, national parks and the National Institutes of Health. Sixteen of those Democrats voted for all six targeted appropriations bills, introduced at the behest of House Speaker John Boehner, including measures to fund the National Guard and Reserve, NIH, national parks, the District of Columbia and two separate votes for veterans programs. (The House of Representatives voted twice to restore funding for veterans programs, once Oct. 1 and a second time Oct. 3.)

Are republicans breaking any laws or rules?
This is a great standard to hold your company's leaders to.
Seems like the standard the Democrats are being held to. This is a legal process that is being followed. If the correct way to go bout things it to get enough votes to do what you want, well, the Republicans obviously did that.
