The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (13 Viewers)

Also, surprised that so many people had never heard of Mr. Show, especially with all the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul fans. It made my top 100 for sure, and I was surprised to not see my name on the list when it got posted. It must've been a last minute scratch, probably for something like Kim Possible.

I have known one of the actors on that show, Matt Czuchry, since the third grade. We are the same age and went all the way through high school together. He is kind of an entitled prick. Country club kid. And he used to pick on me when we were kids because I have really bad eyesight.

We got to be civil when he grew up a little and I’ve got a few autographs in middle and high school yearbooks. Still, I was kind of annoyed when I found out he’d made it big in Hollywood.

I don't think anyone has said anything about old shows not being good. I (and Instinctive) just haven't heard of some of these older shows.
Well...by modern day standards, I'll say some of them do not entertain/hold my attention enough to go back and watch through them with the wealth of entertaining content we do have at the fingertips in my somewhat limited time to watch stuff. Not the same as not good, but not gonna end up on my list as a result.

He seems to play entitled roles that matches the real life persona you’ve seen. He annoyed me in The Good Wife.

One of my best friends loves this show. He has impeccable taste in music and movies. As for TV, well, in his own words, "I have the same TV viewing habits as a 13-year-old girl."
Oh -- and to come full circle on the discussions of recent days, said friend was a child actor up until just before I met him when we were freshmen in high school. A year before I met him, he auditioned for the Cosby Show to play Vanessa's boyfriend. He was one of three finalists. The producers told him and his family that they would have to stay in/move to New York if he got the part (they lived in Philly). His mom said no and pulled him from consideration. He was extremely bitter about it and quit acting -- he didn't even do plays at our school. And he was about the only person in our school who didn't watch the Cosby Show.

Yeah, my wife loves the show but I can’t watch it. I find them very unlikable even if they’re just playing characters.
I've made it a habit to avoid people like that in real life, so I have no desire to see them on TV either.

And yet I love the White Lotus, which has the same type of people. I guess it's different when they're on vacation and mayhem happens. I wouldn't watch a show about any of the White Lotus characters at work.

The fact almost all the characters have really likable qualities balanced that out for me. Especially Mike.

I can't watch White Lotus because they do not have any likable qualities imo

All your spoilers are shows I've never seen and over half I haven't even heard of lol.
You're like 20 years younger than the rest of us, so they're not targeted at you.
To be fair, a bunch of those old shows being mentioned for top ten all-time probably won’t make the top 300. Only mine were good guesses. :bowtie:

I think only one of yours is a good guess and I doubt either sniff top 10. Some of the other guesses won’t even be ranked like you said. If I had to guess your shows will be around 40 and 80.

Was going to say this too - I think the argument against Suits would be it being ridiculous legal work not unlikeable characters. If you watch the show you’d know that’s not the case - plus you get to watch Donna, Scottie and the princess.

ETA: I’d probably put those 3 up against any 3 you could come up with from another show. Maybe early Baywatch?

Agreed, those were just the only two old / b&w shows that would have any chance at that high of a ranking.

Just thought of another one - don’t think I’ve missed this ranked already

Leave it to Beaver

Still not close to top 10 and maybe not top 75 or so but could see it beating out one of your guesses.

I've never seen Gilmore Girls, but I know it's considered very high quality. As to the "how could FBGuys have it this high" question, there was a fantastic This American Life segment about a group of Marine snipers in Iraq who were obsessed with Gilmore Girls. It's a hilarious segment I highly recommend listening to, here. Or you can read the transcript on that same page, but it's much better as a (very short) listen.
Amusing listen

I’ve never really watched it either. The one time I had a roommate, he was a very erudite dude. National debate champion. Really smart guy. He was OBSESSED with the GG. I watched a few episodes with h8m and just found it to be too forced. The banter especially. It just came off as a show trying WAY too hard to be hip/cutesy/witty/smarter/sorta edgy. It just didn’t register with me.

Dumb story from my life. I grew up in LA. Had lots of friends succeeding at the acting thing. I’m talking kids here.

I’ve been through 3 auditions for a national 7/11 commercial. It’s down to me and some other 11 year old. I don’t get it. The reason they gave me was because I didn’t wear glasses. Even at 11, I was like that’s *********! I could’ve put on a pair of glasses!!, what a crock. The only commercial I was in was a French commercial for Orangina.

I know we are all busting balls a bit, but I think there is a bit of a difference between not knowing about White Shadow and not knowing about The Twilight Zone. (not saying that was specifically one you two were talking about, but I think you get my general point).

This was really well done, probably should have made my list somewhere. I probably discounted if some for being only 1 season, should have treated it more as a miniseries since it told the entire story

Watchmen was excellent. It was a rich work of art in television form just as much as the source was in comic book form.

There were three. The second meshed organically with the first, the third was more of an outlier but still good
