The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (4 Viewers)

1883 - I know it's supposed to be better than Yellowstone but I still don't think I have any interest in it.
It's only one season so it fits your criteria. You should give it a shot.
1883 is really good. I've seen a season or two of Yellowstone and they're completely different shows if that's what's putting people off this one. This show seems anomalous among the shows Sheridan has put out there it's so different.

I’ll pretty much watch anything with Sam Elliott.

I never did watch Squid Game. I'm just not sure I'm interested enough in it. Someone sell me on it.
No, this one fits into my two least favorite show categories.
Game shows
Reality shows
It’s 100% drama.
Although I would prefer to watch the subtitled version, the other party wanted the dubbed version.
As for the show itself, its gripping, brutal and fantastic satire that seems like its gonna happen for real pretty soon.
Plus it has some purdy Korean women.

The second season couldnt be a direct rip off of the first, so the angle theyve chosen is reasonably smart. How it concludes could shift mine ranking, maybe towards the negative.
The assault of the first series though was magnificent.

Just to be clear, by 100% drama he means 100% fiction. I do not watch reality shows or game shows either. This made my list. This is about a fictional game-ish show and it's something else.

Catching up …

170 Station 11 - great show, but with only one season it needed to be exceptional to make the list
172 Shameless - great show and highly recommend
173 30 for 30 - never crossed my mind to add it but certainly would have been in contention
174 Squid Game - liked it but not enough to be top 70
179 Batman - was on my working list of 120 but didn’t make the cut
182 Californication - totally forgot about it, would have been top 70
184 The League - totally forgot about it, would have been top 70
186 The Handmaid's Tale - great first few seasons and petered out, but enough to make the end of my list
190 Beverly Hills, 90210 - watched it a lot but is basically a soap opera for twentysomethings
191 Whose Line Is It Anyway? - another forgotten gem
193 Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood - love Fred Roger’s but wasn’t a big part of my childhood
194 Orange Is the New Black - lost its peal after a couple of seasons
196 Bloodline - started it but never went back … not sure why
198 Quantum Leap - fun show (like a few others in this range) that was fun but nothing more
199 The Penguin - strongly considered but missed the cut
200 The Dukes of Hazzard - not sure I spaced out on Daisy and the Duke boys

170 - Station 11

Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror

A post apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, telling the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what's been lost.

Now I gotta watch this.

What streaming service is it on?
Amazon Prime I believe
I thought it was HBO.
My bad. I just did a quick google search. The computers are LIARS!

As I review my submission, it was clear I favored more “classics” that meant a lot to my earlier years. Newer shows that only have a season or two got omitted as a result. I also find it surprising at how many shows I completely forgot about that I would have strongly considered for higher up on my list and there will be more of those for sure.

This barely missed the cut for me. It is one of the few example where I found a TV/movie adaptation better than the book. Highly recommend.
I've actually been waiting on this one until I read the book. It's in the never ending pile of unread books on my desk. Maybe I should skip it and watch the show?

It's not a book I'd recommend.

thought this would go unlisted. glad to see it had other admirers. it's one of those i recommend to friends that probably haven't heard of it.
Most of the shows on my list were from the 70s and 80s, but I thought Station 11 was so well done. I've watched it three times, and I rarely re-watch a series. I also had 1883 ranked high, and now I realize that maybe I'm a sucker for strong blonde female leads.

Shameless should have been higher. First 4-5 seasons were great. Yeah, it tailed off at the end, but was still a decent watch.
Obvious recency bias having Squid Game just one below this. It's only had two seasons. Yeah, I like it pretty well, but with so few episodes it wouldn't have made my top 100.

169 - The Lincoln Lawyer

Drama
Score: 186
Average Rank: 24.5

Need a lawyer? Call Mickey Haller. He runs his law practice out of his Lincoln, and he's ready to hit the gas. Moving through Los Angeles, he takes cases while balancing a private life that includes being a father and having two ex-wives.

This is shocking. I like the show quite a bit for what it is. It's entertaining but I wouldn't put it in the top 70.

Side note, this show did make me go out of my way to go to Cole's to get a French Dip. I would never have done that or even knew about Cole's without watching the show.

I have to agree, this is another fast-food show. Which, like Reacher, is the tone of the books as well... beach reading. It's fine quality in technical terms but it's meant to be consumed and discarded. I'm not sure it's a better show in the realm of All Of Tele-Vision than, say, Mr Rogers Neighborhood, LA Law, or St. Elsewhere.
I enjoy a good pizza just as much as a good filet.

It's not a book I'd recommend.
We don't seem to disagree on many things, but this is certainly one of them.
Same here. It's on my book list.
I was only so-so on the book, and one of the reasons I haven’t gotten into the TV show. I did like Mandel’s Sea of Tranquility better though, and that one is on my preliminary book list.
SoT is in my queue. Looks very much up my alley. Maybe in about a year if i ever get through The Way of Kings.

In hindsight, this should have probably made my Top 100, at least, even though it's objectively terrible in every possible way.

Never watched Homeland, heard it got real bad real quick.

Didn't rank it but thought about it. I just couldn't bring myself to actually put in the top 70 of all time even if probably watched every episode at one time or another.

Same - in my 20s we used to wake (and bake) up early on Saturday mornings to watch this show - but even then we knew it was "terrible" and it was more to make fun of it.

It gets the nostalgia vote.

Shows I watched a ton all got consideration and this one was a staple for many years. Still, having it inside the top 50 is a little silly, but this process is as subjective as it gets.

not sure how it holds up but I watched the hell out of this I guess I would have been primarily in middle school when this aired so yeah a show with slightly older hot chicks was right up my alley

This sums up my feelings as well.

We definitely shouldn’t reveal to people IRL that our fantasy football message board top television show countdown had Saved By the Bell ranked higher than St. Elsewhere.

In all seriousness I’m in the same boat but also understand the SBTB is horrible TV and St. Elsewhere was a beloved show with tons of Emmy nominations.

I hated this show more often than not, but just kept coming back for and more of the world being saved from chaos created by masterminds being defeated by the utterly insane.

I've never watched St Elswhere, but watched probably 100 episodes of Saved By The Bell.
I am in the same boat. I didn't have either on my list but one was because I never saw it while the other was because it is Saved by the Bell (even if I enjoyed every minute of it).

I think this type of group ranking is going to have the anomalies because many people aren't going to be able to list every great show because they haven't seen them. I didn't rank The Office, Sopranos, Succession, Game of Thrones, etc because I never saw them. I did rank Three's Company, Mork & Mindy, and Happy Days because they were great at what they did. Does that mean they were better technically....no but they were better to me.

I said it early in the thread: I listed and ranked shows that I enjoyed that have had the most impact on me. I spent some of the most formative years of my life watching multiple episodes of Saved By the Bell a day. Is it an objectively good show? No, of course not. Did I enjoy the hell out of it, not the least of which because of Tiffani-Amber Thiessen? Of course. I haven't watched an episode in 30 years yet I still feel I could do quite well in a Saved By the Bell trivia contest. That's how I ranked shows and I feel great about it.

I'm glad I wasn't the top voter for Saved By the Bell.

Yes, dumb and cheesy, but I also watched it almost every day after school on TBS along with another show that hasn't shown up yet.
