Pretty accurate - I tried to make myself rate shows for their best seasons rather than their worst, though it's hard to stay consistent there. Well, I'll amend that... I tried not to punish shows for not getting cancelled. If they were good from the start through 4 seasons, I try to remember that. I give less credit for a show that takes a season or 2 to get going (like Parks and Rec, which I often hear gets good after season 1, but that I've never gone back to after season 1 didn't grab me).

Don’t recall but maybe there was a long lapse between seasons. I find that happening with a lot of shows that go a year or two (sometimes more) between seasons - lose interest after moving on to another show(s). Far cry from the old days when the season would end with May sweeps and pick up again in Sep

The original intent of the show was to have the focus on Piper Chapman, as the story was based on a true character, and their “adventures”
But a) the actress was awful and b) the other characters were so much more interesting. By the end Piper was just a bit player. Still series lead, but her storylines were boring and less and less time was spent on them.

Yes they killed Poussay, but it directly led to the series events that followed.
Ultimately it showed that some people are just screwed by life and the system they are put into doesnt exactly help their rehabilitation.

Enjoyed the series, but went on for one season too many.
If the focus wasnt on Piper for much of the run time, this would have ranked higher than the #50 I had it at.

Watched the first two seasons of this and really liked it. Lost interest after that but don’t recall why - very good cast.

This was my experience too. Not sure why I stopped. I wasn't watching it live so a stop in seasons wasn't a factor. I just lost interest.

I liked the first 2 seasons of OITNB, maybe it was good for a little longer, it all runs together, but it got way too “girl power” for me. Sorry, don’t mean that to sound misogynistic, but I just had a hard time connecting with it after awhile

Slow Horses - my #56 - one of only a handful of current shows on my list. Gary Oldman is fantastic in it and the rest of the cast is great. To me it does a really good job of staying true to the book series. Definitely check this out if you haven’t already.

#63 for me and agree with everything you said. I can't get over how good Gary Oldman is. An acting master class.

ETA: I watched this specifically to see if I should put it on this list, so I could have some recency bias in there.

I was one of the other rankers - love Oldman in this.

The last two episodes nearly destroyed what was an excellent series with amazing acting and an interesting storyline.

If not for a weak and weird ending I would have it even higher.

I ranked it but barely due to the ending. Was excellent before that and as you will see later in the countdown, I’ll not totally hate on a show with a bad ending.

I’m a big proponent of IMDB ratings for movies, I think they’re the best ratings out there. I ignore them for TV, though - every show is an 8.0. People who make it through the show liked it enough to stick with it and give it a 9. People who didn’t like it dipped out after 3 episodes and don’t feel like they saw enough to give it a rating. At least that’s my guess at why the show scores are all so high.

Never watched this but after a cursory review, I'm interested!

Mr. Rogers - never even crossed my mind. Of course I watched it as a kid. I can't really seem to remember if I was extremely into it or not, but it was on. I think my age might have something to do with it - Nickelodeon garnered most of attention back then even though PBS stuff was on in the house, too.

Since it was a competition and I was trying to win, I’m sure I probably stated this more eloquently in the TV Draft when I selected this show, but this is up there with Sesame Street as far as public impact and importance.

Where Sesame Street taught us how to count and to read, Mr. Rogers taught us how to treat others, how to love ourselves, how it’s ok to have feelings, and how it’s ok to be different.

I still remember how I learned things watching Sesame Street (more on that later I’m sure). I still remember how Mr. Rogers Neighborhood made me feel.

I considered this one, but left it off my top 70.

I was slightly too young to fully appreciate it when it was on and never went back to watch it later on.

I checked with @Scoresman before posting ...this one didn't make the top 300.

I made sure a quirky 2 "season" mockumentary from Netflix called "American Vandal" made my list at #68. It's a spin on the true crime docs and both seasons are set within high school situations.

The first season 2 HS "investigators" take on who really spray-painted the "phallic" symbols on almost 30 teacher's cars in the HS parking lot.

The 2nd season these two try and solve who in the school put a powerful laxative in the lemonade in the cafeteria causing a massive "brown out" across the entire school. The culprit calls themselves the "Turd Burglar"

Highly recommend for those who are fans of mockumentaries - didn't want to let this one slip by.

You should check out the British version. I thought that was better and how I first stumbled upon it. Had many of the same players but the host didn't try as hard as Drew Carey and I thought he was better (not that Drew was bad).

Whose Line was brilliant when Drew Carey was host. The banter between performers was great. I should check out some of the recent episodes, it looks like the 2nd run just ended.

You should check out the British version. I thought that was better and how I first stumbled upon it. Had many of the same players but the host didn't try as hard as Drew Carey and I thought he was better (not that Drew was bad).
