The way I’m ranking is I came up with 5 categories. Drama, comedy/sitcom, sci-fi/horror etc, games shows, and reality. I then ranked the shows in each category from best to worst.

I will then go row by row, and create the overall list by looking at whatever is the top most show for each category, and picking the best of each set of 5. Then for the next set of 5, I replace the one I picked with next highest in that category and continue. This makes it less overwhelming.

Too complicated. As I thought of shows I put them in a list. Then I ranked 1 to XX and sorted. Then I copied my list that ended at 70 and sent them to you. Easy peasy. I am sure to have some shows on this list that nobody else does.

I'd be surprised if some of mine makes it. I came up with 82 but it likely leaves off a bunch of stuff that I didn't remember and there alot of shows that I have not seen/don't remember seeing

Are people including series that are not yet complete? I have at least one that I would put on there, but if it runs off the rails in the future then I'd regret it.

Yes I’m ranking them based on how I like it so far fully aware my ranking might change in the future.

I’ve got completed shows on my list that crapped the bed down the stretch. If I’m considering a current show top 70 now it might survive a Shark Jump. So it should be considered.

There’s a ton of unfinished shows though that deserve a spot IMO. I just rank based on how much of the show has been released.

For sure. I am not suggesting leaving off Survior because it is still running or something like Cobra Kai (i think that is still going?).

My post was way more on the lines of your last sentence - i just realized just how few tv shows i watched even a few episodes of as i started to write stuff down. Just better for the results if people like me sit it out and watch.

I tentatively have that one down, but thinking about the series as a whole, it is really just the peak ~5 year version of it, and not the earlier version or subsequent iterations. And, eh, not sure how to rate that.

I don't think you can rank anything that you haven't watched at all. But not having finished it is fine. For example, I haven't seen every Columbo episode out there but I have seen enough to know that I wanted it on my list. Where I haven't seen any of Sopranos so it didn't make my list.

You should strongly consider making time for the Sopranos. But I agree with the gist of your post.

It's on my list (no pun intended) to watch. I just haven't gotten around to it. With older shows I tend to get a show and watch until I am done. So for shows like Sopranos with many seasons it's a bigger commit to jump in.
