Got one. After about 10 flights took a bad hit and gear sound like they are grinding. gonna recharge and see what happens

If something is actually grinding, I don't think recharging will help. It is not too complicated to take apart and get to the gears and see what is going on. You just need some very small screwdrivers.

Excellent chopper. We flew it a few times yesterday and I know my son has used it today. Fantastic control compared to similar priced choppers. ;)

On/off switch crumbled after two flights. FML. :lmao:

They are a bit on the fragile side..After a few flights I had to do some minor surgery to adjust one of the gears which slipped out of place.

Jesus christ... what are you people doing to these poor things? We've literally been playing in-air demolition derby with ours (smashing into each other trying to knock the other chopper out of the sky) with a slightly bent prop being the only damage. (straightened back out). Grinding gears? Check this site out:

HEre's a full teardown photo writeup.

I had read about the on-off switches breaking but with only a minor amount of caution we've not had any issues with 8 choppers with an average of 10 flights each :goodposting:

Sorry for those of you who are having issues. :( Do you have S107 or S107G on the package? Just curious.

:goodposting: Gave 3 to the GFs neices (10, 8) and nephew (6yo terror). Big hit. The father loved em as well. Kept commandeering them :( They had an Air Hogs chopper collecting dust on the shelf...hated it. LOVED these. My father LOVES his. Has always wanted a remote chopper. Flies the thing every morning/evening. Folks are blown away by the ease of use / flight precision almost universally.

Mine was a red S107. It was no big deal. The gear that attaches to the motor which controls the bottom blades is on a little metal rod and it can move up or down. This one just happened to have slipped up somehow. Not sure if it was out of place when I got it as I only had a few flights when it stopped flying. But in 5 minutes I had it working again.

will have to pick one of these up. Picked up an Air Hog for my son. That thing is a POS. Tried adjusting it over and over and it will just spin and flip over without taking off anymore. At first it would hover, but just spin. Tried adjusting the trim and now it won't even take off.

You might have the same problem I had with the gears. You have only one of the blades that is really spinning. The other one spins some, but the gear has slipped out of place so it is not engaging fully and spinning it at full speed.

Somehow I just got one of these for X-Mas. So I hope your happy ICON that you were thought about as I opened my present on Christmas Eve and thought to my self "Oh ICON, you've done it again!"

 Glad to hear GB.

Hadn't seen this post before, but I asked for and received one of these for Xmas. I'd say that it's more durable than expected, but there are limits. In attempting to land it on my ceiling fan in a room with vaulted ceilings, over a hardwood floor, I've managed to get the tail module to break. The plastic piece that the rear motor fits into snapped off. Good side is I've managed to get it to stick on with some electrical tape and it's been fine. It's also only a $5 part, but I'll have to do a little soldering because I'm going to have to pull that whole tail motor and wires off and put the new one on.

It's definitely fun as hell. I'm going to order a 2nd one since I don't plan on being more careful with it, which will also give me more playing time between charges when I have both fully operational. Also going to get the tail module and spend an extra $10 on a full part kit.

Mine handled almost a dozen falls from about 12-14 feet up, smacking off a wooden toybox a few times, down onto a hardwood floor. I was amazed at how well it was handling it, but then tragedy struck. :(

At 32 y.o, my parents obliged me and got me another "toy," becuase the fiance flat out said, "no."

All I can say is...best x-mas gift ever for the money. I was hovering and flying it with ease after the 2nd flight. By the time X-mas evening was here, I had 5-6 flights in and was chasing the Chihuahua all over the family room. Hilarious. It's survived several crashes, including one where I tried to land on the blade of the ceiling fan 14 feet up in my parent's sun room. It clipped the blade and fell to the tile floor. Set it back upright, and it went on to fly the rest of the charge.

I get the "toilet bowl effect" from time to time, but if I fly forward it goes away. Only in hover usually. But all-in-all, a great toy. Every single time I flew it, my dad would say, "that thing is pretty cool."

Thanks for the recommendation!

The tail fins are not essential for flight. I removed the two metal "support" struts and the horizontal plastic fin assembly altogether. That, coupled with sliding the skids forward has made mine way more nimble

I'd not even bother screwing with re-attaching that other fin. As long as the prop is there and functioning you're fine.

A niece and nephew got a couple of these, parents paying $100 each, I think. Definitely worth $30. They had one still working and one brokesor by the time I showed up on Xmas day. Niece and nephew were just flying vertically until hitting the 25' ceiling where they would freefall to someone's head, the mantle, ceiling fan, Xmas tree, or hardwood floor. The one which was working would work no matter what. The bottom blade of the other one would not work, so it never really achieved flight while I was there.

Just bought one for myself.

It looked like the support struts kept the tail boom from rotating. Is this not the case? I'm guessing you slid the skids forward to increase forward lean/speed?

Removing the supports has no effect on the rotation of the tail. I've had no issues with structural integrity either. Its pretty much dead weight. By removing that and moving the beams forward, yes, you move the COG slightly forward and make it quicker. You also cut some weight so make it climb quicker and batteries last a hair longer.

Finally ordered mine from xheli.com. Blue one out of stock.

Picked up a red one.

2 balance bars @ $2 ea

Main rotors $4

2 Tail blades $1 ea

They were out of buckles which I read is nice to have.

Used "s107" promo code for 10% off (gave -$3). Free shipping. Total was $36.95

So what types of accessories/upgrades are available?

Improved blades?

Bigger motors?

Flaming arrows?

Hey neighbors barking dog - I OWN THE AIR!

I wish I would have bought one of these. :goodposting:

Instead, I bought an Air Hogs for the daughter and I feel like I needed to have gone to flight school to control that thing.

The only plus is the missile launcher is downright dangerous

Anybody get one of the bigger ones or an Apache or something?

I just ordered my S107 today and I'm already addicted I think. I've always dreamed of flying a rc coptor.

I tried this and after taking the parts off, the fiancee saw me with the screwdriver and gleefully said, "Did you break it!" And was sadly disappointed when I said, "No, I'm modifying it."Anyway, I tried this last night. It's definately faster and climbs much better, but I'm not a fan. I think at this point I enjoy trying to make soft landings on small surfaces, and this makes that a lot harder to do. But if you want fast and a little more out of control (neutral hover results in a slight forward drift), go for it.

My on/off switch crumbled, but I can turn it on/off with a needle. My packaging says S107 but the documentation booklet says S107G. Mine is yellow btw and I have had no other problems with it. Pretty cool little copter.

$22 shipped on Amazon (choose the one on the right).
What means this? I don't get any options, just an "Add to Cart" button.
It looks like that one is gone, but there a plenty of $22.89 options.
I'm not trying to be dense here, but you linked to one item. Are you talking about choosing different vendors? Is there one seller that is better than the others or are you just trying to hip us to the cheapest price?

I get the feeling that my first flight with a "real" RC copter would be a lot like that. Only with more crashing.BTW, got my S107 yesterday. The cats haven't been seen nor heard from since. This thing is cool as hell. Right now the price is around $22 and the way it climbed right before Christmas last year I'm thinking this may be what I invest all my wheat penny profits into for this Christmas.

Sounds like a plan.

I haven't flown mine for a few months....may have to get the dust off of it and fly it around the house.
