The West Coast is Overrated! (1 Viewer)

From SF and north, the weather sucks, the big cities are just huge hills, and being on PST is the worst. Everything on this coast opens early, basically bc it has to to try and keep up with the rest of the country.

/

I loved Bay Area weather when I lived there and nothing beats 10am football games on Sundays.

My biggest complaints regarding the west coast was that I met a lot of people that were surface friends, nice to you but not necessarily anyone you could count on. If I ever needed to bury a body, I'm calling one of my buddies in MA.

Oh, & the homeless situation on the west coast, it's almost epidemic level stuff out here.

Feels like NYC is minor leagues/farm system and when they're ready to turn pro, they move out here.

dammit. I miss SF.
Most overrated city on Earth...

What's to like? The bad weather, the massive hills, the potential for earthquakes, the overwhelming homeless problem, or somehow the only place in the country where they've managed to make it even less affordable than NYC?

The authenticity of the insincerity

Do you think the weather in Seattle or SF is nice?
relative to here? eternal spring and fall, or gamut from stinking heat to witch's teat cold? yes- it's nice out there in the SF area. I don't know from Seattle- those people are the worst, so the place must be awful.

all of the above.

Our past couple of winters have actually been marvelous, no?

I'm not in town this week, but isn't it like 60's and sunshine the past couple of days?

Yeah, NE and Midwest have been on a great run the the last year and a half It was in the 80s through September. We had 60s and sunny a couple days ago. This weekend looks like 50s and sunny. It's wonderful.

see bolded.

last couple winters AND summers have been kind of mild here. mild relative to here, not there.

it's easy, nice living out there (but yeah- scarily expansive now). if you haven't lived there, you can't possibly know.

Will there be homeless people trying to stab me with contaminated needles bc I won't give them $5 dollars?
Walking into that place is like walking into a scene from Pulp Fiction. I took less than 10 steps the last time I was in there before this stripper shoved cocaine up my nose.

I'm on the west coast 2-4 weeks every year, enough to give me a taste... I understand it isn't the same grind as NYC in terms of pace, but trading everything off, I'll take the grind.

The weather the last couple of years in the NE has been heavenly, the systems passing through have also helped other places with better weather too as 80's notes above (I believe he is in Michigan).

don't forget to tip on your way out

Okay, to my previous comment, the 2015-2016 winter was our 2nd warmest on record (average temp just under 42, which is fine by me for a 3 month stretch), our 2016-2017 winter was not far behind.

that's great.

what's defining "better" weather for you? because it's not temperature.

This is the definition of "selective data" - throw Seattle in the mix, why don't you throw in mid-March to November while we're at it?
Seattle can get pretty overcast, but it doesn't rain as much as people say (less avg rainfall per year that NYC) and snows WAY less (only about 6 inches per year)

As one who knows that life is made of the stringing together of peak experiences and who has lived on the Sound, the days where Rainier tosses off its long atmospheric cloaks to bare its mighty shoulders to one & all is the greatest geographic glee i've ever felt and well worth day upon day of grey.

If you are a fan of the Yankees or another east coast baseball team, how do you watch your team play when they're in Seattle?  That's a 10pm start time.  How is that a better time zone for sports viewing?
