and it's great how he kept the street drug story going while still focusing on the docks. Lots of setup for season 3, especially in the finale. Anyone else feel the Brother Mizzone character is a little too "out there"? Kind of a nerdy take that should have been a little more intimidating, imo.

dead on. I didnt like this season much when i first watched it. However, the 2nd time i watched it(after i completed the entire series) i liked it alot more. This season sets things up for seasons 3 and 4 so i think thats why it feels a bit slow. But like everyone has said, you will be glad you watched this season and be rewarded with seasons 3 and 4 which are simply amazing!

I saw an ad for a movie that has Clay Davis saying that he does a pretty good Omar from the HBO show, The Wire.

You see exactly what the director wants you to see and exactly how it was originally shown on HBO.BluRay will have no relation to the aspect ratio. It was shot in 4:3 and will be displayed on all media types as 4:3 as it should be. don't know what to tell you. Do some research. Simply google "The Wire Aspect Ratio"You will see it was shot in 4:3. yeah, I did not see this but if it did happen as stated it was a truly awful decision. I hate when friggan foodTV does this with a meaningless show much less a work of art like The Wire.
You should enjoy watching programs as they were originally intended to be shot. There is nothing worse than cropped or stretched pictures on a HD set (or any set for that matter).Your HD set should be used to watch all aspect ratio's from 2:40 all the way to 1.33 in their best glory.Just be careful how you complain. It is complaints from people who don't really understand what they are saying which forces idiots at the networks to crop or stretch because people are black bar phobic. I'm only through the first two seasons but this is probably the most powerful scene so far.
I just finished S3, very good stuff. I'm definitely into this show. With all of the area Blockbusters shutting down, & hardly any rental places left, I may just have to buy the whole set. BTW,I've already seen every episode a few times. You know, first-run, then repeats, then On Demand... whatever. You manage to see them all two or three times. But since I got the box set delivered last week, I've been banging them out one after the next. Watched the first three seasons in the past 10 days. Doing it that way, it's amazing how much more stuff you catch that you might have missed before.

Dude, there's NO reason not to. You'll end up spending more on the rentals than you would the entire box set.I got the whole series for $90 or so (brand new) at Amazon. It was going for $20 less than that before Christmas.
It took me about 5 weeks to watch the first 4 seasons on Netflix. Quickest route outside of owning it.

Didnt like Bodie at all in season 1, but he grew to become 1 of my favorites of the show. Probably the only character to do that, although I wasnt the biggest Marlo fan at the beginning because of how much I loved the Barksdale crew.
