It used to be that there was regular programming going on and then truly there would be some breaking news, and you'd get the red banner and the BREAKING NEWS and wham, something exciting was happening.
I'm pretty sure that between the hours of 8pm-midnight nearly every single night, they run the BREAKING NEWS red banner full time. Regardless of what's happening. When that one Malaysia Airlines flight went missing, that was good for BREAKING NEWS for a solid several weeks. Even when there wasn't something new. Gaza has provided BREAKING NEWS for the recent weeks, even when there's really nothing changing there.
Have we become so desensitized, and the networks so desperate for ratings, that they feel the need to have BREAKING NEWS to grip our attention constantly? Aren't they sort of like the boy who cried wolf? They could be ready to run some serious BREAKING NEWS and I'll be like "ehh, right," and switch to a Family Guy rerun.
What's the deal with this? Really annoying.
I need to start watching BBC or something.
