They have fallen, can they get up? (1 Viewer)

I have 2 solid LBs (Fletcher & Witherspoon)that have fallen to the injury bug and I may may have to cut both of them...and I don't want to.Right now I plan to cut Fletcher for a healthy body, but would I be wise or Foolish to cut both?

Uh...you'll wanna keep Fletcher. He only has a hamstring injury. While we're on the topic, you'll also want to keep Witherspoon. The guy has been on a tear.NOTE: IGNORE MY REPLY IF YOU PLAY IN A TWO-MAN LEAGUE

As I said, I don't really want to cut either of them. At the same time, I do not want zeroes there. The trouble with this particular league roster space is at premium, so at times it comes down to cut an IDP and replace or cut a skill position player.Fletcher and his sore hammy are replaceable.

Fletcher is a top 10 LB. He's probably playing this week, but even if he doesn't it's a one-week injury. Cutting Fletcher would be like cutting Tiki Barber because it's his bye week.In other words, you're not thinking clearly.

Please note, my answer also doesn't apply if you play in a 2-team league.

Thanks for the feedback fellas, but I can't roll into the weekend with 2 guys that might play. I have no doubt Fletcher will try to play, I just question his effectiveness.Good thing its a 2 team league.

Whiterspoon is injuried ?????

With a tight roster I guess it depends on who is available. Fletcher has been a top 10 LB for years now (angry Rams Fan), and Witherspoon looks to be breaking out bigtime this year with or without Morgan in the lineup. It would be foolish to cut either but I understand you not wanting to take a big 0. Who is available?

When are your waiver-wire picks due each week?? Thurs & Fri practices are usually a good indicator of a player's availability for the upcoming weekend. Here's the good news...

Both CAR and BUF play 1:00 games. Therefore, you won't have the dreaded 4:00, 8:30, or Monday-night worry.

yes

Due tomorrow night; as of today, neither one of them practiced.
Are you able to temporarily cut an extra kicker or WR in order to grab a filler-LB for one week?? If so, I would go this route. As most have indicated, both Fletcher and Witherspoon are arguably Top-15 LB's and their injuries are minor. Cutting one or both in Week 3 would haunt you the rest of the season.

Good luck.

I need to wait and see if they practice today. In addition I am looking to make a trade to create roster space and avoid making any cuts. At the moment there is little fat on the roster.I should have prefaced this post by saying we need to start 2 LBs and therin the problem lies.Worst case scenario? I cut one.

I'm surprised your rosters are so tight that you've got top-20 guys at every spot, but then that's a good problem to have.

Bills | Fletcher Practices, Expected for Week 3Fri, 23 Sep 2005 13:47:29 -0700Buffalo Bills LB London Fletcher (hamstring) practiced Friday, Sept. 23, and is questionable for the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Sept. 25. Fletcher is expected to play in the game.

Panthers | Witherspoon Misses Practice, Unlikely to Play Week 3Fri, 23 Sep 2005 14:49:39 -0700Carolina Panthers LB Will Witherspoon (knee) missed practice Friday, Sept. 23 and is not expected to play Week 3.

This is a joke, right? I'd love to know who is on the waiver wire in your league that you plan to replace these two with...

I kept both of them and have chosen to take goose eggs - brilliant plan I wish I would have thought of sooner - thanks for the sound advice.

No IR spots in your league? that stinks....We have 2 in our 17 player league - may be a good rule change for you going forward - Getting 0's at least allows you to kkep them...
