Seems like the only guys who wear these have decent guns. Is this just for show or is there a reason for them?

Shannon Sharp was asked about this on NFL radio and he said it all comes down to the player believing it makes him look better. He then said a player that believes he looks good, believes he will play good. :coffee:

I actually used to think it was just so these gys could show off their guns. But I remember reading somewhere just the other day that it's for the tendons in the elbow...although it could be a combination of both.

I think it actually helps with joint stabilization. That's according to Mrs. CE (nurse).
Then wouldn't there be an optimal size? They vary from a couple of inches thick to 1/8" rope. Remind me of the Ultimate Warrior.

I always thought it was to stop sweat from running down their arms and onto their hands... but I have no idea where I got that from.

What are the arm bands the football players wear for? AnswerBands that are worn the wrist are for sweating. Most football players, tennis players, etc. will also wear tight bands around their elbows because with repeated stress the tendons of the elbow will slowly and painfully begin to pull away from the bone of the elbow. This is where the pain in your elbow originates. With continued, repetitive use of the elbow the tendon-bone connection weakens and the pain in your elbow steadily increases. By placing continual pressure on the tendons that connect the Flexor and the Extensor muscles to the Medial and Lateral Epicondyles the tension at the point of connection to the bone is significantly reduced.

Bobby Engram (Seattle) was wearing one yesterday in his game vs Atlanta. The guy does not have guns whatsoever.

That statement is true. I could point out many examples but the most well known is Jerry Rice. He stayed in the mirror quite a bit prior to gametime making sure his jersey, socks, sweatbands, and cleats were perfect according to him. It's just a mental thing and we all know that's where success starts.
