Things Tim has an expert opinion on: (1 Viewer)

Things mentioned only in passing on drive-time radio that were only half-heard and, for the most part, misunderstood, yet become immediately threadworthy and which he has an instant and polarizing position on.
This is probably the best criticism of me in this thread. It's true, I do a lot of driving, and talk radio is often on, and if I hear something interesting I tend to repeat it here. Often that's a mistake because I misinterpreted what I heard, or it turns out to be incorrect.

As far as whether or not its threadworthy- that's not up to me. My purpose in this forum is to have interesting conversation. The reason I start so many threads is because I am trying to initiate that conversation. Often times, once the conversation is initiated, I enjoy simply reading and don't always interject my own opinion every second, because despite what some of you think, I don't want the conversation to be about me. I simply want it to be interesting. But it's not up to me- the only way the threads that I start, or anyone starts for that matter- has lasting power is if people respond to them. If nobody responds, a thread will die a quick death.

Applications of capitalist economic theories as a methodology of a concrete numerical valuation of the non-tangible concept of 'interestingness' on an internet-based commenting system.

Or, "A lot of people talked about the book 'Fifty Shades of Gray', therefore, it must be good and/or interesting."

Bigots. Gay Marriage.
I love it.Tim - Do you think someone can be against gay marriage and not be a bigot?A rube clueless to Tim's shtick - Uhm, I don't know, I guess you could be against gay marriage and not be a bigot.Tim - Well you can't, you bigot.
This comes nowhere close to representing my position in that thread.
Of course, it isn't "nuanced".
No, it's just a big fat lie.

Oh puh_leeeeeze. Tim is just teasing us here. Giving us false hope. We will have to pry the keyboard from Tim's cold dead hands before he stops.

No, the thread will die. And he'll start another one.

Either way...let all his threads plummet off the first page. Even if he doesn't go away, it will be funny.

And he'll bump the old thread to try to resuscitate it.

Well it is. You lied. You've lied about me before, and I'm sure you'll do it again. You deliberately mischaracterized what I wrote in that thread. What you suggest is opposite of what I wrote, by 180 degrees.

Lie is a strong word Tim and I did not do it. I deliberately characterized your statement in a way that you do often, without determining its validity to that particular topic. I took this thread as a sort of "Tim Roast" and felt free to take liberties in the sake of humor. On a more serious note, I find many of your positions contradictory and on occasion your logic strained but who cares; I would still buy you a beer if I ever met you, as I would everyone else here - I do not take this (FFA posting) personally or post it as such.

Fair enough. Sorry if I took too much of an accusatory tone.

No need to apologize to me; I am sorry that I can't convey my intentions better. The "lol smiley" was because you were taking it the wrong way. If it is any consolation, trying to remove that smiley cost me about twenty minutes of cropping this post so it would take; I guess you had the last laugh.

This ####### smiley rule is ridiculous.

A few years back I was having lunch with a Black friend of mine in Echo Park (Los Angeles.) This is not a place I normally frequent, but he invited me to a family picnic. This was a guy I met at a chess club, so I went and met his wife and children. In the middle of our picnic lunch, the police came and took this guy away. Right in front of his wife, children, and me. I probably should have said something, but frankly I was too scared. There had been a robbery in the area, and the description was of a "muscular Black man". My friend was handcuffed and taken away for questioning. Afterwards, I learned that he was released a couple of hours later.

Are we sure the black guy didn't call the cops on himself to get out of the picnic with Tim?
