Things You Don't Like About The Greatest Generation (1 Viewer)

If that Generation is so great why cant they drive faster than 50 on the highway? Seriously, they had enough balls to jump out of planes into nazi-infested Germany, but getting behind the wheel of a Cadillac is too much for them.

They never could figure out how to work a computer

Yeah disagree with that one. They know how to work computers they are just bad at it. Emailing old stupid memes, clicking on attachments from the IRS or some Nigerian scammer and completely messing up their ####, Spending countless hours bidding on worthless ebay crap, etc...
Ah mostly thinking of my dad here. And maybe he'd be considered in the next gen after them (born in '38). Sure that gen even a bit worse than he was.

There are very few topics/things/people I won't joke about for the sake of humor. Those things can probably be counted on one hand but the greatest generation folks are tops on that list.

Gunsmoke was kept on the air so long because the wife of the network CEO(CBS?) wanted it. It was her favorite show.

Their kids
Ran in here to post that. Spawning the Baby Boomers really disqualifies them from being the greatest anything. Yeah, they killed Hitler but their kids are way worse than Hitler.

They won't hurry up and die already so I can get some inheritance. Come on, Grandpa, I've got bills to pay! Do you have any idea how much this nursing home costs? If course you don't, you're ####### senile!

My Grandmother had 18 siblings and a lot of them were around for reunions and such when I was growing up. My Grandpa loved throwing huge ####### parties and would talk all his neighbors into sharing their yards to support. True block party, 150+ people drinking and just causing a ruckus.

Anyway there were a lot of greatest generation people there and I'm telling you, they had uncanny foot odor. They had corns and bunions and just terrible feet. The whole block stunk of Stroh's, roasted pig, and feet. You couldn't replicate that smell today, unpossible.

Also these people would pretty much eat anything. I had wealthy great uncles and those people still ate turnip cores and tripe soup any chance they got.

ETA: Maybe this is why their feet stunk so bad :oldunsure:

Added the words "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. That phrase takes at least one second to say. Multiply that second times how many days in a school year times how long I've been teaching and it means I've wasted 57 minutes say it.
:violin: :drive:

What's your school's policy on the pledge? Can kids just sit it out if they want?
No written policy but one isn't needed since West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette. I've got one Jehosepat Witness that just stands there. I want to tell her she doesn't even have to get out of here seat.

You guys are using present tense for these folks, which is somewhat entertaining since the youngest of this generation is currently 91. Maybe they can drive, maybe they can have a dog, but they definitely shouldn't be driving with a dog.

And why do they have to sit in the left hand lane? :hot:

Because I find her belief system even goofier than kowtowing to a piece of cloth every morning.

You realize that "the Greatest Generation" was just as full of #### and had just as many ### holes as every other generation, right? Of course they stepped up because of WWII but I'd be willing to bet if it had happened 10 years earlier or 10 years later you'd have seen the same response from those people.

Oh I hear you. And it's not like any of them are going to actually read this mess. And it's extremely odd for me not to make jokes for the sake of humor but it's just a topic that hits kind of close to home and I'm not touching it that's all. By no means am I above making jokes at other peoples expense it's just a personal thing. You did notice I didn't lose my #### in any of the jokes, right?

Perhaps but it didn't, and they did it. Those that fought suffered deprivation and pain unlike any of us will probably ever know. That deserves respect.
