OP needs to learn how to control the situation. Slow the dude down, ask some questions. They can only go as fast as you let them.
Yep. I'll slow then down by answering slow. When I'm ordering 3 meals for the family I'll tell them lets slow it down.

:lmao:

You germaphobes all know what happens to what you eat on a daily basis, right? Even the stuff in your own house is likely more "contaminated" than what happened here.

So hilarious to have to jump through all of those mental hoops just to enjoy a meal. Gllll peas.

Maybe takes 10 seconds longer. It's not so much slow as it is a normal pace.

To anyone saying this was not a big deal google trash cans viruses and bacteria. Those things are loaded with bad stuff. The whole point to those dumb gloves is to not have bacteria like that touching your burrito as they are making it. Food safety is the top priority at places like that. One outbreak can irreparably damage the location.

I would have walked out when the chicken hands touched the cheese.
Yeah you don't want chicken and cheese touching each other. Abomination.
Agreed! I don't want chicken touching anything im going to eat.
Since it's cooked I'm sure you'll survive.
Thanks for that. I usually end up dead in most hypotheticals.
I agree with the "i'm sure it's fine" line of thinking but that does not make it OK. If you have to handle cheese, tortillas and lettuce with your gloved hands, you should not be handling any other foods that may get some kind of juice or residue on your gloves. That's just common sense. Everyone would be OK with the lettuce having the flavor of carnitas because there is some dried, cold carnitas drippings throughout the lettuce? That's nasty. That's another reason why you shouldn't be bouncing around the work line either. Stay in your spot. Speedy is only supposed to put rice, beans, veggies and meat on your tortilla or bowl and then pass it down. That's it. The next person handles the salsa and other stuff.

Another issue i have is how they put the pinto beans in front of the black beans in the lineup and every time they take a scoop of pinto beans you see the juice drip right into the black bean compartment. I know that's not a food safety issue, it's just that I don't like pinto beans. Sometimes you see the black beans and the liquid is not dark, it's light brown due to all of the pinto drips getting in there. Wish they'd line those up vertically instead of horizontally. This may be the first change I make when I am chipotle ceo.

I agree with you on the garbage can...that's absolutely disgusting and I voted walking out like you did. I don't see a big deal with the cooked chicken though. In those places they go through a pan of chicken really quick so it's fresh. With that assembly line setup they have it's impossible not to have some sort of cross contamination. With un cooked meats I completely agree but with this set up I don't see the big deal.

Yeah, i don't think it's a big deal either but chicken grease all over the gloves can be easily avoided. His gloves looked like they were dipped in root beer. Use the spoon for that is all I was saying. I let that part go. It was just I had filed it away and knew to keep my eye on the guy in case he did anything else questionable. To be honest i was more watching to see if he'd wipe his face which was sweaty.

You can't dislike a particular bean without having ocd?

I cant see how you could tell the difference between the two if you were blindfolded. Its like people saying the love Coors light but hate Miller lite or love Coke but hate Pepsi.

They should have been using tongs to handle the food instead of gloves anyway--that takes care of most of the cross-contamination. Speedy should have been staying put and handling the garbage was way out of line. I wavered between walking out vs really being a nag and making them start it over. Being in the business you really have to be sensitive not only to the safety but also to the appearance.

I really doubt you could, but that's not even what Im talking about. Im talking about people who claim to "love" one while "hating" the other. Cmon.

I'm positive i could. Coors has a distinctive taste that I can spot instantly. Coke and Pepsi taste nothing alike to me. And I don't like pinto beans while liking black beans. This is not unusual. People have preferences when it comes to food. I strongly dislike ham but enjoy other meats and cold cuts. If people didn't have preferences in flavor and texture then we'd all just eat flavorless bowls of goop that have the perfect amount of nutrients we need.

This. They just shove it down the line so the next guy has to ask the same question or assumes it is a different order. Just wait for the order in front to complete and don't have poky mcpokerson in the cash register.

There is an obvious difference in the taste of Coke and Pepsi. I am not the kind that won't drink both but I can easily tell the difference and I prefer Pepsi.

Yeah, I can blind taste test Coke vs. Pepsi easily, but I have like a 60oz/day Coke habit.

The biggest letdown of the year is when you show up for a holiday dinner and find out they're serving ham.

#### like this probably doesn't happen at a taqueria.
True. The taqueria is going to have Lupe or Juanita behind the counter and they are all professionals. At Chipotle its a crapshoot with whatever pimple-faced teen they hired last week.

You just named beers and sodas that taste very different from each other.

Heads up: you have ####ty taste buds.

Willie, let me shorten this story for you...

"I went to Chipotle. I waited 15 minutes because I was hungry for a burrito. The kid behind the counter touched the garbage can then my food. So I walked out."

If that's the worst day of your life you will die a happy man. :)

Hell, I can taste the difference between canned coke and bottled coke.
Yep. And don't even get me started on fountain coke. Who the hell is calibrating this stuff?
It is really tough to find a good fountain drink. I drink Pepsi primarily. I had a place that had the mix perfect. Then they moved the flavors around. They swapped Pepsi into where cherry Pepsi had been. Tasted like cherry for weeks. Idiots didn't do anything to clean out the lines. I had to stop buying there for a while.

If I were younger and this was Reddit I would have just posted a GIF of the guy touching the trash can. I'm old school though and really wanted to paint a picture. It was cathartic to write all of that out.

Has anyone asked the OP if there was a taqueria around? Much better. Cheaper. Probably quicker...... and we just expect them to touch the garbage cans without wearing gloves.

:excited:

What could possibly be on that trash can?

It had a bag in it right?

So probably just a lot of food scraps from the day...who cares...throw me that burrito homeslice!
