THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (5 Viewers)

 my bad, misread...deleted my post

No problem, and thanks for trying to keep things organized anyway!  I was just using my "no one reads my posts" meme.  I know at least 80s and Cranks knew not to pick, so the only confusion would be with Doug.

Here is a live clip from the Shindig TV show of Mr. Excitement closing out the show with Baby Workout. The Chambers Brothers and The Blossoms (with Darlene Love) are doing backing vocals and at the end you can see Bobby Sherman dancing in the closing credits.

It’s either him or James Brown that probably did the most to shape the image and idea of a singer as entertainer.

13.15 Big Star - "September Gurls"

I meant to take this like 30 rounds ago, but kept forgetting. I know it's probably the chalkiest of chalky by them for their biggest fans, but I think it's both their best and it's my favorite. It's jangly goodness at its apex.
Another one I held off on because I couldn’t decide on a #1. It rotates between this, O My Soul, You Get What You Deserve, Daisy Glaze, When My Baby’s Beside Me, Don’t Lie to Me and My Life Is Right.

Also had these guys on a short list.

My favorites are all from Third/Sister Lovers: Thank You Friends, Kanga-Roo or Holocaust.

12.27 Thievery Corporation - Sweet Tides

This may be Triphop's most productive band. Going strong since 96. Playing The Wiltern on the 17th, I'm tempted to go. My favorite albums are two incorporating Jamaican music (2017&18), The Temple of I and I and Treasures from the Temple. I know some of you like reggae/dance hall. Fuse them with some hip hop and trip hop and you have dreamy alternative island vibes. But my pick is the standout in the catalog for me, and works nicely with my playlist. It's a chill out.

Never heard this.  Very good, but it feels like so much tension built with no release, like I'm waiting for it to lift off.

13:28 All these guys had commercial success at this point. Armstrong, Freeman, and Barker did it once more and specifically for Skinhead Rob, their longtime roadie, to get him the songwriting credits for this gem and commercial jingle.

Transplants - Diamonds & Guns

Thanks. It sucks, but I'm watching EP 1 of "Get Back"
Sorry about your bodily issues, Uruk. I hope you still have a good day. I need to subscribe to Disney+ for a month to see Get Back. I'll watch football today, so I'll do it tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Round 13.xx

Hum - Stars

The overground single from their little-appreciated classic You'd Prefer An Astronaut.
One of my favorite songs of all time.  I remember seeing them in a small sports bar in Maryland and we were two of like 20 people there.  The lead singer spent the first 15 minutes complaining about how bad the audio was.  It was a blast.

2. WTH is up with all these narcissistic morons filming their "reaction" to a song?
I think it really got going during quarantine. They seem to get a lot of views for that’s why people keep putting them out. The question you should really ask is who is watching them? People seem to really enjoy sharing the music of their generation with younger people or people raised in a different musical culture.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  I hope you have wonderful food, good wine, better music, and even better time spent with loved ones. If not there's always this place.

14.01 Livin' on a Prayer, Bon Jovi

One of the best choruses in rock and roll history; it's impossible not to sing along.  I don't have many memories before my teens, but for some reason I recall seeing this music video being played at the babysitter's house when I was 10.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

14th rounder for Binky:

Spirit - I Got A Line On You

" love these guys and you don't hear much about them when 60s groups are mentioned.  I don't remember anyone in the mid-late 70s that didn't have couple Spirit albums.  As usual ...tough choice, right up to the last minute I was going to go with one of their lesser known hit - Dark Eyed Woman - but then wanted to go with the softer and classic - Nature's Way"

14.19 The O'Jays - "Backstabbers"

That piano opening (which sounds like it came from a silent movie sound track) is ominous and let's us know a storm is brewing. Then the groove digs in, but it's not happy - it's agitated. Once the singers start, it's all bad news. The dude knows all of his friends are doing time with his lady. There's no way out of this one.

This is a great groove record. It starts at 100 mph and doesn't let up.

Thanks, my friend. Have an awesome day.

No spoilers, but the first episode was amazing.

Music snobs can hate all they want, Bon Jovi records were full of great pop hooks. Great pick.
