Time for a favorite. Yo Mama selects:
8.32 - Beastie Boys - Shake Your Rump
Yeah there might be a few “better” songs by them, but this is my jam.
I’m like Sam the Butcher bringing’ Alice the meat . . . One of the greatest lines in music history.
I discovered Blue Oyster Cult in my grandma's 1978 Oldsmobile Volare station wagon. An older cousin had left an 8-track in her car. Serendipity!Round 8
I've taken this the last 2 drafts but in this format and this playlist it's a must.
Blue Oyster Cult-(Don't Fear)The Reaper
beautiful ...love it
That was my intro to the beastie boys. Walking by my brothers bedroom and hear...Time for a favorite. Yo Mama selects:

Shake. Your. Rum. PAAA!
I think all you guys know I am not into rap, hip-hop, whatever - but though I don't listen to these guys - what cred
great sense of humor and rhythms![]()
Nice pick! I think this, Walk, and Galaxie are my three favorites off of Soup.Captain Cranks said:8.01 Mouthful of Cavities, Blind Melon
One of the most underrated bands of their era, they somehow only had one commercial hit with No Rain. All three of their albums have incredible music from top to bottom. Unfortunately, lead singer Shannon Hoon died of a cocaine overdose in 1995.
My favorite band in ninth and tenth grade. Give me anything off of Plastic Surgery Disasters, actually. "Bleed For Me," "Government Flu," "Well-Paid Scientist," etc. Can't believe I'm up already!
Round 8.33 - Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles
Tempted to go with Chemical Warfare for its manic intensity, but I think this is an overall better tune. I have a co-worker who saw these guys play inside of a metal maintenance shed in the '80s. I cannot imagine how loud that must have been.
"Root Down" might be my favorite, but Paul's as an album set the standard for sampling and pastiche sound collages. Just a legendary album.8.32 - Beastie Boys - Shake Your Rump
Did you know that it's "star-bellied sneetch" after the Seussian creations? You're a star-belly snitch, you suck like a leech
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ### while you #####, so you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you
Well, you'll work harder with a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake
Can't believe I'm up already!

I'm partial to Sabotage myself, although I think my favorite Beastie Boys line is in Intergalactic:Time for a favorite. Yo Mama selects:

I know the only reason this band hasn’t been taken so far is that everyone thought they were selected in the first round. Another of my favorites, a surprise to none. . . I present to you:
9.02 - Rush - Freewill
My favorites are this, Xanadu, and Red Barchetta, but there’s plenty of other greats I could’ve selected.

It's mostly shtick, but also long fatiguing dated prog...wow, I have never gotten the Rush hate ...good dudes, great original music
I mean if you were around in the mid 70s - there wasn't a hint of "these guys suck" or "you're uncool if you like them"
please - Rush haters ...is it only Geddy Lee's voice? (which I love), is it that nerds like Rush?? (which by the way - that was not an issue for years)
these guys just kicked ### for years and I really hate the Rush hate

Procol Harum - Conquistador (1967)
As I think back at the songs that really hit me, even as a little kid (my theme) - this is one of the big ones.
Certainly "A Whiter Shade of Pale" is better known and I love it too, "Conquistador" captures that time so well, but still holds up today.
I mean, my other option for self-torture is stick needles in my ####...I think I'll go with the needles.
If there is a hell, it's playing Rush and/or Jethro Tull on repeat.
I think it was exactly like this.
