Not the most exciting pick
Journey has come back around again ... at least as of 5 years ago or so. They got a lot of Internet hate in the 2000s, too, but it seemed like "Don't Stop Believin'" finishing The Sopranos made the Internet re-evaluate the band somehow.... I dismissed the rock of my hs days for the most part until my kid started studying music and asking about journey, styx, zep, rush, reo, van halen and on and on. She loves a bunch of that stuff and curates a playlist for her friends that's very popular at the bar she tends. A 22 yr old.
I thought they were going to blow up after "Metal & Dust", but I guess it never happened. I still ####### love this song. She's got that unique husky voice, trip-hop-tinged Florence Welch vibes. Unique sound. Underrated band for sureThanks, it got lost in the madness of that run and didn't even get a like. I encourage all to give both links a listen. The undrafted one is somn else. If i chose it I was going to call it my obligatory nod to classical music.![]()
Just wait until you see my next 12 picks
Some obscure band from England that didn't sell any records over here. Not one. They were also responsible for Rush becoming popular and for landry's hat sniping everybody.Sorry...who?

Every minute counts! Still think the best thing Kanye did all year was "Tell The Vision" with [redacted artist].Donda is now 2 hours and 11 minutes![]()
No schmidt? Dam-n.They closed Lollapalooza this year.
Little known English band that nobody in North America has heard of. Lead singer is called Morrison or something. Not sure if it's first or last name. Could be an homage to "The Doors".Sorry...who?
At least Rush had 5 songs. Some artists that benefited from Canadian content laws had 2-3 songs that were driven into the ground. We have Canadian content laws here where something like ~30% of all songs played on terrestrial radio have to be Canadian. This has led to many bands, but most irritably Rush being overplayed to an extent you can't begin to imagine. And it's not like they dig deep into the catalogue either, it's the same 5 songs over and over again. So, I can recognize there's maybe something unique or original there but it stopped being so to me by the time I was 10 years old and I never, ever need to hear them again... but I will.

I just caught up on the last two years of Journey news. Contentious times for the band. The early 80s lineup, minus Perry, was actually back together for a few years but there was an ugly split last year. Out went Ross Valory and Steve Smith and in came ex-American Idol judge Randy Jackson (!) and uber-producer Narada Michael Walden (!!).
He was their bassist in the mid and late 80s, so that's not really a shock.in came ex-American Idol judge Randy Jackson (!)

I apologize on behalf of Canadians throughout our great country. We got Much Music on cable for a little while. Unfortunately, it was during the heyday of Snow.
I/we had a choice one Saturday back in the day. Zep in the bay area or Journey in Sac. I've never seen Zep live.I was never Journey fan - and I was right in the middle of it.
Spotlighting Dude. If I was in this draft, they would be off the board by now. No joke.let's not be talkin' #### about The Guess Who - I thought we were on the same side man!!!!

I could name names if you want me to.
With good reason.so sorry ...I wasn't thinking ...
still kind of worked up about the whole Rush thing ...![]()

Sad emoji because that had to be close to Bonham’s death.I/we had a choice one Saturday back in the day. Zep in the bay area or Journey in Sac. I've never seen Zep live.![]()
Singer Arriel Pineda brings Gary Cherone vibes for me in some of his mannerisms and because he looks like he's in a different band from the rest of the guys.
You're right, of course. A little shocked that Jackson returned to life on the road in a rock band after his cushy Idol gig. That’s all.
He wasn't with them at Lollapalooza.
Narada Michael Walden was there though playing alongside Deen Castronovo.
I would have picked Time Stand Still for Rush.Let's forget the past.
You post a link to a good Rush song, and let's see what happens.
Walden is a multi-instrumentalist. He could’ve held down the bass lines, no problem, but I assume they had someone else on bass. Curious as to who.
I was gonna try to sneak Not Even Jail in the draft at some point, which I really like.I think this might be the consensus pick? But I'm not sure because their first album is clearly the most beloved... in any case:
9.06 - Evil - Interpol
This is the correct answer.Hot Take: "Suite Madame Blue" is defensible as their best.
Impossible, agreed. BUT, I recently heard Louis Armstrong's Mack the Knife on a long road trip steamin' jazz. I loved it. Coolest song ever. So I wanted to hear more of it when I reached my destination. Frank's version with an incredible band behind him and having fun with the lyrics... oh.8.19 Frank Sinatra "It Was A Very Good Year"
It's probably impossible to pick a "best" with an artist like this, but I'll throw this one out there. To me, Sinatra in his prime does melancholy better than anyone else. Overall, I like his slower stuff more than the up-tempo songs.
After looking at his first few picks I can feel @Ron Swanson grinding his teeth from here with that pick. Can't believe I'm up already!
Round 8.33 - Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles
Tempted to go with Chemical Warfare for its manic intensity, but I think this is an overall better tune. I have a co-worker who saw these guys play inside of a metal maintenance shed in the '80s. I cannot imagine how loud that must have been.
Never heard of this song. Only 3 minutes in - **heart**. This is why I love these drafts.
Night and Day for me.8.19 Frank Sinatra "It Was A Very Good Year"

I had heard Frank before, but this was the first of his that caused me to stop what I was doing and listen.Summer Wind
