Aw, thanks krista. I was trying to figure out what went wrong because I saw NV post. I think I'll let my GB northern exposure draft. We PM every so often about magic football, and he's a good dude that should be included. I have no strong desire to finish up; best to have a worthwhile contributor. That said, I will comment from the sidelines if the thread ever feels like it could use it. Thanks again, k4. I hope everybody has a really good time with this exercise and that it brings everybody together. Peeeeeeaaaace.
Then I'll do it. Whatever is least disruptive. Just @ me when the time comes.northern exposure replaced NV on the draft sheet, and zamboni replaced JZilla. We left your spot open...just in case.
ETA: I'll respond to all these more fully and update stuff in a while.
I'm partial to Formed a Band but the entire album is a delight! Then I'll do it. Whatever is least disruptive. Just @ me when the time comes.
I think I owe round 11.

I can't stand the sound of the Velvet Underground
White Light! White Heat!
I can't stand the sound, the second time around!
Oh yeah? Well I .....really liked your Aimee Mann and Pretenders picks.I picked a good day to be offline. Missed all the drama and the Eagles pick.
One of my favorite albums! Barrett Martin and Mike McCready also.....I woulda went I'm Above, or Long gone Day, but I have zero issue with your choice
Great pick… river of deceit would have been my pick

I worked as a volunteer at the local Folk Music Festival for years. It is held in a natural ampitheater. I was walking to my shift down the hill one morning and heard Emmylou singing a cappella as they were checking the sound. She has the voice of an angel.11.10 - Emmylou Harris - Boulder to Birmingham
Emmylou is better known as an interpreter of others' songs than as a songwriter herself. But she written a number of songs, contributing more as her career has progressed.
"Boulder to Birmingham" is one from near the beginning of her solo career and her 1975 Pieces of the Sky album. The song was written in tribute to Gram Parsons who'd died the previous year. Emmylou's songwriting collaborator was Bill Danoff who also wrote "Take Me Home Country Roads" and "Afternoon Delight".
Thanks I appreciate the heads up and keeping it moving

As I posted previously, I was only filling in. I couldn't replace you. If you want back in, I will step aside out of respect for you and the draft you started.rockaction said:Aw, thanks krista. Just remembered this was the name of my Eagles cover band in the 90s.northern exposure said:We found our Binky replacement.
The only song I ever cranked up in the dorm. (We had a ton of frat boys and bow heads.)Juxtatarot said:I didn’t have many albums as a kid. Mainly just K-Tels and 45s. But I had The Long Run. “The Greeks Don’t Want No Freaks” will always have a special place in my heart.

This one of most banging hip-hop songs of the last 20 years. I'm a sucker for rap songs that tell a compelling story, and this is one of those. The whole album is brilliant, and while I haven't been as big of a fan of his later albums, I think he's one of the Top 5 rappers alive today.

Dude had a mountain of dance hits a few years back but this is a standout for me. It introduced me to Florence and the Machine.
Love this song.I'm back for a bit. For my 11:28 pick -
The Presidents of the United States of America - Peaches
I thought these guys were my personal guilty pleasure, but over the last few years I've discovered about everyone my age seems to know the words and has fond memories. For me, they were that perfect antidote to a rather un-fun period in music. Quirky and upbeat was exactly what I needed when the came on the scene. I could have picked several of their songs here. But I really like peaches. Plus, ninjas!

So far I’ve tried to be strategic in this draft mostly picking bands that I thought would be picked soon by at least one of you. This round, though, I’m going to do something different.
First of all, there can be no debate that this isn’t the band’s best song since it is the only song currently available. Their first EP will be released Friday but they released the “official video” of this song on YouTube last Friday. Hopefully the EP will be available on the streaming services but I’m not sure they will be big enough for that. Their video only has 291 views as I type this and that counts a ton by me!
They describe their music as “Scottish dance-rock” and also “nostalgic synth miserablism”. I’m not sure I get the miserablism part but maybe that just means I’m an undiagnosed miserabilist.
Anyway, I really dig this song. I know Scottish dance-rock won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if it might be, I urge you to take a listen.
Ha I had these guys on my short list! Peaches is great....Kitty, Dune Buggy, or Back Porch....coulda picked any of those. I was leaning Back PorchI'm back for a bit. For my 11:28 pick -
