THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (1 Viewer)

I'm addicted to this draft but have a million things to do preparing for my trip. Really really enjoyed this morning pick run. Well, not sure WAT da heck Floppo took but... haha... he do that to me all the time.

Anyway, I must pull myself away so skip me if it moves that fast.

Does one-pick-per-day start on Wednesday or on Thursday?

Squisition sniped the pick I had cued up 😭

12.19 Chic - "Everybody Dance"

This is probably the most conventionally "disco" hit they had but, even then, it's still stripped-down like all of their stuff. The bass and piano parts are straight outta Detroit and Memphis, respectively.

I've ranted too often about how underrated this band was, so I'll lay off here.

12.16 - Crowded House - Fall At Your Feet (1996)  Live at Sydney Opera House

While Don't Dream It's Over always seems to be the choice for their best song, I prefer this stunning, overlooked, and vastly underrated song. Honorable mention to runner ups: World Where You LiveIt's Only Natural, and Into Temptation.
Damn, sniped. This is the band I have seen the most in concert. Neil Finn steps out of his brother's shadow from their time together in xxxxx xxx and he knocks it out of the park. Of course Tim would later join him in Crowded House.

Neil Finn is a lyrical master and combines sweet, light melodies with dark, bitter lyrics at times. Mean To Me, Fall At Your Feet, There Goes God are all brilliant. Hard to pick just one, my fave today is:

Love This Life.

Thursday.

Resume clock Monday morning. I hope this was the right idea. I know it is for me. I just won't be online much. With all the family, sports, food, other holiday fun, traveling for some of us, time off work, etc., seems many should be in the same boat.

My first project today:

Go to the Wild Horse and Burro rescue and fill a couple containers with 60/70 pounds of 20 year old solarized and dehydrated wild horse and donkey poop. It's a Christmas present for my BiL. Seriously. :)

Cow manure is out of season at Lake Tahoe. He asked me to bring him a couple bags for his compost pile. Imma get him the good stuff.

Different Drum-The Stone Poneys. This is a pretty unpolished version recorded at the Troubadour in Hollywood before she became a thing. You can see (maybe after the fact as in "Ahh NOW I can see a diamond in the rough").

The album version is much better (but not as cool).

If I were to rank my best female singers by their voice, I would have to say Ann Wilson #1 by a mile. Then Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter 2a and 2b.

I can't believe we have the exact same Tuesday plans!

Have you said what your theme is?  I just looked at your list and am not sure.
I said after I drafted the Stones in Round 1, I would build my mix around them (Stones-centric) so their influences, bands influenced by them, collaborators, etc.

I’ve stated the connections for most of the picks.

I would have gone with Love in Vain with Robert Johnson, which they would eventually cover.

Who let the new guy in with all of his snipes? In my opinion this draft is #nofun.

Oh yeah, I remember all that.  Sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night.

I think the best part of this thread is the fact that after a pick you can actually mention other songs by that artist without being called out for spotlighting.

As if I would let Ronstadt slide to round 12.

Maybe some of these other yahoos still living in 1996 would.

#shotsfired

ETA:  is the creepy run on young, emotional female singer songwriters over yet?

Hmm. I think this is the first time I can ever recall hearing that #### is out of season.
