THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (4 Viewers)

Pop Quiz Time Killer:

Guess which United States Senator I nearly crashed my shopping cart into today in my local Costco. I wanted to give her a piece of my mind, but she kindasorta smiled at me, and I kindasorta smiled back.
Do tell. Bated breath. I'm not sure where exactly you live, so I have no guess, really.

By the way, I would have gone "Motorway To Roswell" for the Pixies (or UMass), "The Wall" for Cash, "Bring It On Home To Me" for Sam Cooke, and "Old Friend" for Rancid. There were others, too. "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her" for Simon and Garfunkel, "You're No Good" for Linda Ronstadt, and there's another I'm missing here...

I hate to do just a list without explanation or further discussion, but I at least want to add something by acknowledging the picks.

That would have been my pick for Cooke.

Fun Fact: Lou Rawls does the backing and answer vocals on the song.

We are a little one dimensional IMHO, so I'm going to add some diversity while you guys fight over the rock/R&B/Soul stuff.

Linda RonstadtYou're No Good

Yeah, that was a solid pick as would be any of her hits. And I think she was the top selling female vocalist of her period.

However, I would have taken an obscure number that wasn't a hit, but is my favorite:

Linda Ronstadt - White Rhythm and Blues (1978)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjWV0o4nR7k

Written by J.D. Souther and has a Blue Bayou flavor.

I really was unaware of this growing up.  I didn't hear her much outside of our home.  She wasn't on the radio stations and she certainly wasn't on the television, at least what I watched in the 80s.   And then relatively recently I watched her documentary, Kennedy Center Honor and her rock n roll HOF induction and learned more about her superstardom.  I knew she was popular but didn't know the extent of it until this past decade.

I’m pretty sure he’s doing backup vocals on Having a Party as well

I haven't heard Having a Party in years so I have no idea, and since I don't Spotify I can't listen to your selection. I will get around to it on YouTube when I got a chance.

I looked it up and Having a Party was the same recording session, same musicians and released as the B Side to Bring It On Home To Me.

Headed out to a party tonight, will likely be checking back in heavily intoxicated late night(costume party)...if my drunken selection is anything from Motley Crue, I demand a re-pick in advance. (I do have a distinct Crue #1 FTR)

Sidebar:  I spend my $10 monthly music allotment on YouTube Music.  Basically the same streaming content - EXCEPT - YouTube Music comes with ad-free youtube.  There's no coming back from that.

I did the free version of spotify for several years and it was still pretty good.  My kids were on me because they wanted it for their phones - so been on the family plan for several years now.  Their catalog is so deep ...still very little Bryan Ferry though

There have been additions to Ferry's streaming content in the past year or two. For a long time, the only album available from the 80s and 90s was Boys and Girls.

I think his catalog is complete now or very close to it.

Now, do health insurance!

Kids, amirite?

I may be violating the duet rules with this one. She wrote the song and he's an actor so I'm giving it a shot.

3.31 Shallow, Lady Gaga

This song highlights the power of her vocals as good as any.  If 2:28 doesn't give you goosebumps, someone needs to check your pulse.  Personal anecdote, this is me and Mrs. Cranks' song.

If this was an illegal pick, I'll stick with my favorite dance track of hers, Telephone.
