THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (1 Viewer)

I may be violating the duet rules with this one. She wrote the song and he's an actor so I'm giving it a shot.

3.31 Shallow, Lady Gaga

This song highlights the power of her vocals as good as any.  If 2:28 doesn't give you goosebumps, someone needs to check your pulse.  Personal anecdote, this is me and Mrs. Cranks' song.

If this was an illegal pick, I'll stick with my favorite dance track oh hers, Telephone.
I think your okay here.  It's getting the second bite at the apple via duets that does not fly.

:could be wrong:

@Northern Voice makes the call.

4.01 Aqualung, Jethro Tull

This isn't my favorite Tull song (Hymn 43), but it's tough to argue it's not their best.  Ironically, it doesn't have any of Anderson's signature flute.

It's a crime against humanity that they were never inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame.
Heavy metal bands don't get enough love from the RnR HoF. More any other band, they make me wish I were English (after Welsh and French possibilities are exhausted).

Had several songs on my list.

Living in the Past

Dr. Bogenbroom

Look into the Sun

Objectively:  Locomotive Breath gives Aqualung a run for its money.

I don't disagree with that or any of the other choices listed as far as their best song is concerned, at least from a technical standpoint.

However, my pick would have been what I consider their most straight ahead and danceable RnR song (and seriously how many Tull songs can you dance to?). Should have been released as a single IMO.

Jethro Tull - Cross Eyed Mary (1977) Live @ Capital Center.

I think it was in the Rock and Roll HoF playlist too. It puzzled me every time I saw it on there.

Bruno Willis was my editorial comment on the RRHOF. I'm sure I'd enjoy myself if I went to the museum but the rest of the concept seems forced.

Plus all three songwriters of the song are in the hall.

CEM is actually #2 behind Hymn 43 for me.  Then Aqualung.

Smile your little smile --- take some tea with me awhile.
And every day we'll turn another page.
Behind our glass we'll sit and look
At our ever-open book ---
One brown mouse sitting in a cage.

Does the mouse hold any significance in the lyrics or is it just there to rhyme with page?

also excellent.

I told a long story a couple of years ago about almost getting stampeded and seriously injured at a Jethro Tull concert at Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio.  This was when they still had open seating.

After surviving and getting basically front row "seats" (most all the chairs got collapsed) - they open with Locomotive Breath - I can still feel it.

Yeah I ended up getting the HOF connection, was just a surprise each time. I agree on the Hall itself. Kind of silly.

:)  Just my kind of "fresh underappreciated" Tull. Acoustic and reminds me of a medieval festival. Believe that line works nicely as our protaganist is cowardly trapped in a bad relationship. Mouse in a cage. Get it?

I have listener fatigue and my tinnitus is at 11. The music masks it but I've had enough. Never know what to do when I get like this. The insomnia is the catalyst. Sorry if "get it" seemed snarky Eeph. I'm grumpy.

That's what I thought about the mouse symbolism. Thanks for clearing it up.

Didn't even notice the get it.
