Daft Punk was my artist of the year, if twenty years too late.

Did you flip down something and reverse it?I mostly listen to records, so I only use Spotify for FFA drafts. My artist of the year was Missy Elliot.![]()
I prefer Duck's Radio Mix.for grins, this is awkwardly sexual, but i love the raunchy trumpet and should have drafted it.
touch and go
yeah, it's similar to big ten inch. lyrics are all about it, but the mood is just kinda fun. i was seeking music and vocals that were sexy hot. lots of slow blues go there, but i wanted to avoid that too. this is rockabilly. loved listening though.Mrs. Rannous said:And if you want awkwardly sexual, there's always this Ry Cooder masterpiece.
Time to listen to better music?I've been trying to watch my Spotify year in review thing and it keeps crashing. :(
21st Century blues fer shure.I've been trying to watch my Spotify year in review thing and it keeps crashing. :(
5 years ahead of your time. 15 years late.rockaction said:Daft Punk was my artist of the year, if twenty years too late.
I'm scared to look- between my daughter (who never bothered to get off my account when I got the family plan) and these drafts, it's gonna be fubar.I've been trying to watch my Spotify year in review thing and it keeps crashing. :(
You meant twenty-five, but I see what you're putting down.5 years ahead of your time. 15 years late.
I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO MATHYou meant twenty-five, but I see what you're putting down.
You messed up as soon as you listened to us.I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO MATH
pizza math, or I'm out.You messed up as soon as you listened to us.
There's always math.
pizza math class?I am still unpacking how crazy my day was. First time I ever locked down my class with the real thought that my kids and I were in danger. A student shared with me that huge group chat reported someone pulled a gun in the building. We locked the room down and waited to hear. My kids handled it well but it was tough. My dude with autism was shaking but we were ready. I was 75% sure it was BS but it was the first time I "felt it". So much to unpack.

lol nah, Study Skills. I was with my IEP crew.pizza math class?
Oh I appreciate the jokes. I will laugh at almost anything.sorry to joke- that's freaking horrible... can't even imagine. :(
The toughest part really is the odds. It's like a 0.001% chance anything is actually going to happen. I know that and have to let the kids know the chances of anything bad happening are equivalent to getting struck by lightning. However, I still have to respond appropriately when it looks like a bolt might be forming.Literally cannot imagine dealing with this; can't wrap my head around what it would be like. I'm so sorry.
Cool, will definitely listen to all three songs.
Is tomorrow when the Dead Modern EP is being released?
Their 3-song EP did get released on Spotify. Quite good.It is being released for sale tomorrow on a site called bandcamp. I don't know if it will also be on streaming services although @The Dreaded Marco mentioned that he thought it would be and he seems to know a lot more about such things than I do.
Yes. Too bad it doesn’t appear to be getting any traction — only 500 views on the video.Their 3-song EP did get released on Spotify. Quite good.
Social media outlets and the brush and wildfires they cause (I'm talking about the sm rumors there was a gun if I'm reading you correctly) were not made for children that young, especially those on IEP programs. It's hard enough for adults. I had trouble on a message board for about five years. Sorry for your scare. I hope tomorrow gets better.I am still unpacking how crazy my day was. I agree but schools have given up fighting that fight. whoa. figured this exact song was taken 10 rounds ago.
20.24 - Joan Armatrading - Never Is Too Late
Another favorite artist who I've drafted multiple times. Never this song though which is one of my many favorites. My mix needed something with a Reggae groove.
Thanks to all who kept the line moving in this draft. I struggled with the "best" element more than I should have but that's just me. It was good for me to listen to predominantly women artists for the last month. When I look through my old "songs I liked during a given year" playlists, the ones from the early 2010s are almost exclusively male. That's changed a bit over the past decade because of changes in the industry and my tastes. I was kind of hoping Spotify Wrapped would give a percentage of female artists like it did in the past because I would have aced that this year.
I'll fire up the 2021 year-end song draft thread next week in @Northern Voice absence. That's always my favorite draft for discovery purposes. It usually attracts a different crowd so it shouldn't conflict with the Charity draft.
Dylan has a lot of contenders for that.I heard "Wiggle Wiggle" by Bob Dylan yesterday, and I vowed to remember it in case there is ever a "THIS IS THEIR WORST SONG" draft. Might go 1.1.
I cant imagine how scary that would be. Sounds like you really care about your kids. I have nothing but love, and respect for our teachers and admin who really, truly are molding, shaping, and setting an example for our kids. Keep up the good work!I am still unpacking how crazy my day was. First time I ever locked down my class with the real thought that my kids and I were in danger. So I assume it's who you listened to most.....I don't do Spotify, but if I did, I'm pretty sure my artist of the year would be Type O Negative.....so my aura would prolly be bold and creepyrockaction said:Daft Punk was my artist of the year, if twenty years too late.
Fair enough....I totally get the cheeseball factor. For me, they represent a big part of musical culture when I was a kid.......they jumped the shark decades ago, but they did kind of catch lightning in a bottle, initially.
I'll take their early stuff over most of all this shoegaze, emo crap that seems to be everywhere......I mean move outa ur parents basement already.
Yeah, the trappings were much more interesting than the music. Black Diamond is the exception — it’s worthy of Sabbath.I actually love all the cheese. The makeup, the act, all of it. I just wish their music would have been better. It's very generic rock, really nothing that differentiates it.
70's Kiss is like the original Star Wars....it just fits man!....they were cool until they did a disco song....that's when they jumped the shark.Yeah, the trappings were much more interesting than the music. Black Diamond is the exception — it’s worthy of Sabbath.
Good night, northern exposure-boy.
That might be a good follow up draft twist, although I guess you really need to know the artist's material well to delve that deeply. Much easier to determine best than worst, I think.I heard "Wiggle Wiggle" by Bob Dylan yesterday, and I vowed to remember it in case there is ever a "THIS IS THEIR WORST SONG" draft.
I couldn't sleep a couple nights ago, and so I watched an episode of The Waltons on TV. Miss Mamie was going blind and was trying to hide it from everybody, but she started making mistakes and one of them was messing up the recipe.Good night, northern exposure-boy.
Yeah, there would be easy drive-bys for groups like Baha Men, but it would definitely be more daunting for the big artists. That might be a good follow up draft twist, although I guess you really need to know the artist's material well to delve that deeply. When I still had vinyl it used to kill me when they would put their worst song right in the middle of an album side. Got better with other media where you didn't have to get up to skip a song.I heard "Wiggle Wiggle" by Bob Dylan yesterday, and I vowed to remember it in case there is ever a "THIS IS THEIR WORST SONG" draft. Might go 1.1.
By the way, I think the lyrics in the first part of “True North” might be about Scott Hutchison.Their 3-song EP did get released on Spotify. Quite good.
I don't recall if you were in it or not, but many years ago we did a "Worst Songs Ever" draft that was one of the funniest threads I've seen here. It wasn't artist-based, though. That might be a good follow up draft twist, although I guess you really need to know the artist's material well to delve that deeply. I think I remember that one, but wasn't in it - probably on vacation or just tough time workwise.I don't recall if you were in it or not, but many years ago we did a "Worst Songs Ever" draft that was one of the funniest threads I've seen here. It wasn't artist-based, though.
If we went by artist, I could throw a dart at Billy Joel's entire catalog and will have made the right choice.

Not really, as I read what you're suggesting is that it "one worst per artist". I don't think the former draft I mentioned had a limit on how many songs from an artist could be chosen.I think I remember that one, but wasn't in it - probably on vacation or just tough time workwise.
Guess we've covered that ground then...
