This makes my junk tingle. And not in the good way. (1 Viewer)

These guys are crazy. The slow motion in this short video is worth the watch, though. Amazingly cool.
My thing with this kind of flying is how they react to changes in air flow. I mean, I honestly think I could take a plane and fly 5' off the ground, but not more than 15', for 500 yards pretty easily. The ground effect makes flying that low easier. But...when you fly through a hanger, you go from one wind environment to another instantaneously. Side-winds disappear instantly, head winds likely change drastically. Not to mention in this case, another plane. That kind of flying is nuts. Hats off to those guys, but not a chance I'd have the balls to risk my life for something like that.

You obviously know way more than me about flying, but I found it crazy that the pilot was watching the other plane and not the hangar while they flew through. I get you have to know where the other plane is, but I would think you'd also need to know where the hangar is. The hangar obviously doesn't move, but to just assume you are on target blows my mind.

saw the documentary about McConkey recently... free-style skiier and base-jumper. worth the watch.

I'm really conservative with my safety, so in some ways watching these type of guys living life so extreme is interesting to me. but I'm mostly just sad seeing when they die- especially when they're doing this stuff as parents.

I'm not positive, because...well...I'd never do this crap and never have, but I think they sort of operate as a wing-man/lead pilot fashion. The one guy flies the maneuver, controlling the basic flight path, etc, and the wing man's job is to just stay on his wing tip.

Oh. Yeah. That actually makes sense. Still, you have to have faith in your buddy flying the other plane to not look forward.

More faith than I think I could ever place in someone else's hands...

I'm pretty sure I read that the main guy in the second video went kersplatt last year trying something off a building that he didn't land. Also my ####### cousin was trying this off a wall a few years back (on the ground, just trying to wall run) and his leg went through and compound fractured it. Everytime I see him around holidays I just yell PARKOUR!

Yeah, he gone.

No reset button on that one.

These guys are just asking for death. I can't imagine just tempting fate so much! I was relieved when I wasnt hurt falling out of my shower onto the bathroom floor one time. Just lost my balance, slipped and struggled to catch myself and launched right out taking the curtain with me. Does this count as parkour?

Went to see The Walk in 3D this weekend. Wow! It was weird that when he was on the high wire, it didn't bother me too much, but whenever he was near the edge of the building, or anywhere close to the edge of the building, my junk kept tingling. It was a great movie on its own, but I have to think it was 1000 times better in 3D.

did you see it in 3d?

I think my junk would implode if I saw that.

did you see man on wire, or whatever the documentary was called? if so- how does it compare?

Yeah, those dudes are crazy.
5:30 in, it dawned on me what he was going to do. No. Just, no.
Are you freaking kidding me. INSANE!
I actually really want to do this. The parkour standing on top of buildings though isn't me. I would go into shock and not be able to move holding on tightly as possible till i got rescued.

I actually was planning on watching that movie for a while. Then I heard about this movie coming out and I waited. I waited because I knew literally nothing about the actual events, so I wanted the movie to be suspenseful, which it was. Now that I've seen The Walk, I look forward to seeing the documentary to see if they have actual footage.

IIRC, the footage is from TV news from the street. I don't recall anything up top. there are some bad re-enactments... but they don't get in the way of what I thought was a pretty great documentary. absolutely crazy story- especially in light of what happened to the towers.

Yeah. It's weird seeing NYC with the towers in the movie. And they don't really say anything about 9/11, but at the very end, they allude to it and I was whimpering like a puppy.
