I wake up this morning to a text from my stepdaughter that says, "Merry Christmas Eve!"  Then it's the first thing my wife says when she wakes up. Bah humbug, says I.  Does anyone in your family say this?

we will do a midnight mass at one of the bigger churches in milwaukee maybe do a little walking and have a fire and listen to christmas music it is a huge thing for us take that to the bank brohan

Nobody in my family says Merry Christmas Eve", but when we get together tonight everybody will just say "Merry Christmas". And then I'll get texts from many of the same people tomorrow saying Merry Christmas again. And I'll see some of them in person again tomorrow and they'll say it yet another time. Basically it's the greeting and goodbye for two straight days.

My wife is Hispanic and our big family celebration will be this evening, just like it will be for most Hispanic families. That being said, no one ever says "Merry Christmas Eve."

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.  This is how it should be.
