Thoughts on Joseph Addai... (1 Viewer)

Green Bay's Ryan Grant is probably an average RB, now with a season-ending injury. It's also clear Brandon Jackson is a #2. Clearly Green Bay needs a starting RB with some more talent. They could draft one, yes, but...

Since Addai, a FA next year, is excellent at blitz pickup and can catch really well, wouldn't he fit nicely in Green Bay next season? He's not elite, for sure, but I consider him more talented than Grant, and would certainly be an upgrade.

Anyone see this as a possibility, or is Thompson too cheap to make a move?

I'm all for this. Addai won't be looking for too much money and it's been proven in the right system he can produce HUGE numbers. He doesn't fit the exact style of running the Packers do now; however they've proven they want to live and die by Rodgers arm. And Addai is a much better complement to QB-centric offense than most backs in the league.

All I want from the Packers is for them to draft an RB who can be dynamic. I dont care if he cant necessarily carry the ball 20+ times a game but I just want a guy that doesnt need huge gaping holes to have runs of 20+ yards. Keep the defenses even more on their toes.

To the contrary, I think he will be looking for big money as it will be probably his last meaningful contract. Whether a team will pay up for him in light of his solid all-around game and Super Bowl resume - or if they view him as purely a product of the Colts' system - remains to be seen, of course.

If Addai leaves, I think his style would be a good fit in GB. But as someone else says, Donald Brown needs to man up and stay healthy for the team to let Addai go.

Donald Brown will get his shot, but Indy will probably draft another RB as well. The Colts won't be paying what Addai wants. I think he walks. And no, I don't want Addai to be a Packer. I'd rather take a compliment RB to Grant in the Draft.
