Tim Tebow - 8.17.21 Waived By Jacksonville (2 Viewers)

Tebow played well today, but Brady was better. No shame in that. The big difference was three fumbles; yes, one of them was Tebow, but two others were not. No Ints. He passed well. He ran well. The D just got shell shocked in the second Q after those turn overs. Denver is still the best team in the AFC West and will be a dangerous team to face in the playoffs.
Yep. The Broncos made too many mistakes and had too many injuries to overcome. It was still a fun game to watch. If the Broncos can get McGahee and others healthy, they could win a couple of games in the playoffs.

Line is down to six as bettors fall all over themselves in the rush to fade FarveCo's most recent prediction.
Can I get the names? Thanks. killrobotkill, I'll send the PM soon.
0-4 in my playoff games today, and now this. I guess I just didn't have *enough* faith today. Kind of like Linus and the Great Pumpkin.

Seriously? Can you honestly say that you don't really get why anyone would "hate" him?Think about it now... and it has NOTHING to do with football. NOTHING!

Which is why people hate him. ;)

Agreed. As upset as I was about the loss, it was one where they played poorly, as opposed to having their best effort and getting their a**es handed to them. Even on their best day NE may have won, but I feel confident that if they play their best game, they will be in just about every game. Next to turnovers, the tackling was second on my list of fail. I hope Denver spends much of their picks next year on some help for Champ, both in the secondary and up on the line.

You realize that could be construed as 'no one in their right mind would go up against the superior intellect of the great FavreCo'? Anyway, his statement is correct as is. He manned up and paid up so I had to give him some props in the sig.

Good work.

The Patriots d is pathetic; embarassing really. Tebow can really only throw to one side of the field and the Pats D did a horrible job of protecting the left and left center of the field.Their safties are awful sans Chung and the linebackers can't stop anybody. As a fan of the Patriots it's embarassing to see what BB has put together on the defensive side of the ball. The team was fortunate that Ball, Tebow and Royal did a poor job protecting the ball. It was certainly easier for the team once Tebow had to throw. Denver also made too many mental errors and comitted costly penalties.Tebow had some nice throws to his left but I don't recall much thrown to his right. He is a strong runner and doesn't make dumb mistakes. He eludes would be defenders well behind the LOS. The Patriots glaring weakness is their defense and Denver allowed them to sit on the sidelines. You can't blame this loss on injuries; both sides had there issues in that regard. The Patriots offense is just that much better than Denver's. Denver lost all their early momentum with the turnovers.

I don't get the Tebow hate. He's the most interesting thing in sports, period, and I don't see how anyone doesn't love watching him. He is gutsy, smart, doesn't make mistakes, and is pulling out one ridiculous comeback win after another. He is loved by the locker room, is a leader, and also is known as one of the hardest workers out there -- he's a workout warrior and a film nut. He's got a great attitude, and no matter how many times the media tries to make it all about him, he is constantly saying "my team makes me look a lot better than I am," "it's not Tebow Time, it's Broncos time," etc., and when whiny woman veterans on the other teams (e.g., Urlacher) bash him after losing to him, his response is always something along the lines of "good for them, they made a lot of good plays and deserve to be excited, I have no problem with that." What the hell is not to love? Yeah he's over the top with the religion stuff, but that is what it is -- it has nothing to do with him as a player. You hear the guy talk and he sounds soft but then he goes out there and seeks out defenders to run over. The guys who seem to dislike him are the purist football nerds who claim he has no QB skills. While he may not have what they traditionally think of QB skills, he looks like he's playing his position damn well to me..
:goodposting: Clearly the NFL needs less Tim Tebow's and more Sam Hurd's

I figured with all the talk about tebow this and tebow that on ESPN, that he was unbeatable. There were some in here that logically predicted a Patriots win and a lot in here that posted a broncos win. See the prediction thread. Plenty of blind tebowners in there.

It's easy to call a bet dumb after it's been lost. It wouldn't have been the first time a 7-point dog has won. No guts, no glory. And I hate people who welsh on a bet. I can't think of a better way to show everyone what a p###y you are.

Any idea what you were going to put in my sig?

 Where in this thread did you call my bet dumb, exactly? In fact, the first sentence in your first post is "Nothing would surprise me with Tebow and the Broncos anymore." How do you go from that, to believing anyone who would pick the Tebows outright is being dumb?

FavreCo: I didn't have anything solid yet, but it probably would have been something about your repressed desire for Tebow and your fantasy of being his personal "altar boy". ;)

Correct, nothing would surprise me with Tebow. But wouldn't it make sense I would think it's a dumb bet when I predicted they'd lose by 13?

No but the constant blabber about him was past ridiculous. They were at the point that it didn't matter what game was being discussed (thurs. nite for example...or was it Sat. night)... eventually they start talking about Tebow. It would be one thing to say that the broncos (there are 53 players on the team) were the new cardiac kids but it was tebow wins when in fact the D and Prater had quite the hand in the wins.

No, when you do as much hedging on your prediction as you did in there, you lose the right to call other people's predictions on the game "dumb".If the Pats win: "See, I predicted they'd win!"

If the Broncos win: "See, I told you not to be surprised if they pulled off the upset!"

I think it'd be more like: "Wow, didn't see that one coming, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised given what has transpired the past 6 weeks." He had no reason to "hedge" his predictions, I don't think he's the kind of guy who needs to save face when he's wrong. A lot of us are perfectly comfortably admitting when we're wrong. I think the majority of people in here would agree that betting on a 6-7 point dog straight up is a "dumb" bet.

Thank you.If you counted all the times I have typed "WOW, was I wrong about that one!" since the time I joined here, it would be in the hundreds. If I had thought Denver would win, I would not have written "NE, 34-21" ... period. No matter what qualifier I used to begin the post.

No one else find it odd that a QB throws for almost 200 yards, rushs for almost another 100, scores 2 TDs and throws no INTs - and yet certain Tebow haters are claiming victory?

For weeks, many have claimed that it wasn't Tebow that was playing great defense - the reason the Broncos were winning. On a day when the Broncos give up 41, now it's Tebow's fault they lost?

There were a lot of QBs that cost their team's games today. Tim Tebow was not one of them. He also helped a lot of FF teams win their games, scoring in the top 5 of QBs.

Garbage time does count. Tebow did nothing of note after the first quarter until garabage time in the 4th; other than his fumble in the second quarter. Tebow is smart with the ball, runs well, is passionate and throws well to his left. He is not good to his right. When that is taken away he really struggles to complete a pass. This loss looked like other Denver wins. It was on the team. The Tebow hype is over the top. When that happens naysayers are going to pile on.

While everybody was Tebowing, Kyle Orton threw for 299 lets just round it to 300 yards and beat the once unbeatable Green Bay Packers. Oh yeah with a new team and a broken finger.

Who? Can we get some names of who has blamed The Tebow? They had 3 TO's of which he was responsible for 1. They couldn't hang with another high powered offense. Other than the spin around backwards 2 or 3 times, he played well. He is tough to defend out of the pocket. All I gotta say is they needed to lose so that no clue Skip Baseless could be put in his place and we can get off the tebow nuthugging on ESPN & the NFL Network.

There were 2 huge penalties that hurt Denver also. Both of them gave New England a 1st down when it was 3rd and long and they threw an incompletion. The second really hurt because New England was backed up on the 1 yard line and it was like 3rd and 20 and the DE got illegal hands to the face and gave New England 1st.Take away the 3 turnovers and the 2 huge penalties, and it's a different game. But that's why the Pats are the Pats and the Broncos are the Broncos. Veteran teams don't make those mistakes.

Obviously you have no idea how ratings work. If nobody cared about Tebow, ESPN wouldn't be promoting him like they do.

Glad that you admit they are only talking about him for ratings. Thanks.

Tebow had some nice throws to his left but I don't recall much thrown to his right.
You don't remember that bomb Tebow through to Thomas, I believe, on the right sideline? It was a hell of a throw...like 50 yards in the air.
Tebow threw a touchdown to an un-covered Decker in a game earlier this year. Similarly, he thre a touchdown to an un-covered Thomas in the Vikings game to the right side of the field. It was a short pass that Thomas took to the house. He throws very little to his right on first reads; successfully any way. When he scrambles and coverage breaks down he can get the ball to open receivers. He had some nice throws to Thomas yesterday; they were first reads to his left.He did not throw a bomb to Thomas in yesterday's game. (Sorry, you are right. He hit Thomas accross the field late off a scramble)

I was going to try and point out that you were talking about the 1st few seconds after the snap where you make your read and get rid of the ball. The deep pass to Thomas was after the breakdown of the original play.

With that NE game the Broncos have allowed 22.5 points/game since Tebow took over. That puts them 12th in the AFC ahead of Buffalo, KC, Oakland and Indy.

I believe that ALL religious zealots should be mocked, shunned, stoned, whatever.Religion should be a personal choice and has no place being promoted by ill-advised sheep like Tebow.I've said it before, and I guess I'll have to keep saying it… if he just shuts his mouth about Jesus Christ and sticks to football, all of the "haters" that "worshipers" like yourself see will all go away (just like Tebowmania).

I'm not a religious guy. But Tebow thanks jesus after a game for 2 or 3 seconds and he prays on the sideline. Does that really offend you so badly? Does it really make him a zealot? Sports radio/espn and the like make a big deal of Tebow's religion but they're just trying to make money. That's not something you can blame on Tebow.

He got labeled a hater, because he hates Tebow. It has nothing to do with the game result.

What garbage time?In the last 4 minutes, Tebow was 1-6, 15 yards, plus 2 carries for 35 yards. Also, two sacks. This really wasn't an example of inflating stats with garbage time performance.

That is exactly what I thought you would say. I bet you are a much better human being than Tebow. You know, because this "religious zealot" helps out countless people in need every day by all the charity work he does. You can go back to your mom's basement now.

:goodposting: Posted this in the FFA.He is a rarity in the NFL today. I like his passion for the game. He worked his butt off to transition to a pro-style offense. Despite all the individual attention he receives, he is all about team. He is not afraid to cry after loosing a big emotional game, where most players only care about collecting stats and/or a check. I like to see a guy like that succeed.
