Tim Tebow - 8.17.21 Waived By Jacksonville (1 Viewer)

That perfect strike that Thomas dropped in the 3rd would have been a long TD.
Yep, and Prater had a FG blocked early too. Arguably a comeback shouldn't of had to of been mounted. I understand in previous games the point 'Broncos are winning in spite of Tebow's passing' was valid. I don't think you can say that anymore. At least in the Bears game its more accurate to say 'Broncos are winning in spite of very conservative playcalling and poor receiving play'. Tebow's passing is improving. How much though? The real test will be next week vs NE.
you mean the 32nd ranked defense

Nice to see everyone doing a solid job demolishing the "Tebow is winning the games by himself!" argument that nobody is actually making in here.

It's easy to look at things in hindsight and say the coaches are making mistakes as they very well could be however, we get to see it in hindsight.

Let's just say the Bears didin't go into prevent and Decker or Thomas gets loose for a long TD pass because the Bears were being to aggressive. Then what would people be saying? I am guessing probably something like with such limited time on the clock the Bears should have used prevent to allow the clock to be killed.

Also, although the Bears were in prevent defence they did send a blitz on the play that allowed Willis to get open for a long reception. It was actually a good decision by Tebow and he made the right read which again shows he is excelling in late game situations.
There are way more examples of a prevent D failing than there are playing the D that got you there. Everyone knows that the prevent D prevents you from winning and so far at least 3 teams have used it vs The Tebow (Miami, NYJ, CHI) and failed because of it.
You can't really win with fans. The game-winning play against the Jets came against an all out blitz and people went ape**** over the Jets sending all those guys.

The pass that set up the game-tying FG against the Bears came against a blitz and people went ape**** over them not just sitting back and covering the deep sideline.

In general I do agree with you, prevent defense costs a lot of teams yet teams continue to stick with it because it is viewed as the "safer" thing to do. It makes coaches feel all nice and snuggly comfortable and safe so they keep falling back to it. That said, football fans are reactionary and make 99% of their judgments based soley on the outcome. If they play prevent and lose on a fluke out of bounds play or onside kick then everyone jumps on them for being too conservative. If they stay aggressive and give up a big play then everyone jumps on them for being stupid and giving up a big play when all they had to do was milk the clock.
It is a no-win situation if you blow the lead and lose but if it's me, I bring the same D that got me to that point.

NE has the worst pass defense in the NFL. If Tebow can't throw on them then it says a lot of bad about him. If he throws for 200+ yards that doesn't say a lot about his progression IMO.
Yet Pats are 10-3. Pats have a good run defense and great O so Tebow should be forced to throw to win. Can he win with his arm only? We haven't seen it yet. It will be a big test IMO.

That's all FavreCo has left to cling to, so let him. He obviously has no friends or family or anything worth doing outside of trolling Tim Tebow threads on internet message boards so just let him have that at least.

Glad to see Prater getting some love on this last page. That 59-yard kick was NAILS. Drove it right down the middle, with about 8-10 yards to spare. Amazing. The 51-yard game-winner didn't suck, either.

:goodposting: Classic SP. Put words in the mouths of those that oppose your view - then argue that. It's much easier than disputing the actual points being made.

Ditka exploding at Hoge just now was classic. On another note, was Hoge dropped on his head as a baby? Or is his toupee tainting his brain? As a fellow bald man I find his rug offensive.
Hoge is a dope. Seeing Ditka take him to school was awesome. And Hoge just say there like some cocky kid who thinks he knows everything, but really doesn't know nearly as much as he thinks he does. It was quite amusing. At some point, you have to suck it up and give some credit - even Cris Carter has budged a little and given Tebow some credit - but Hoge is too full of himself to ever admit that he could be wrong.
Someone posted on YouTube that Hoge did a 180 on Mike & Mike this morning and is now saying he's a Tebow believer. :lmao: Anyone here heard that?
Yep, now Hoge says he was wrong about Tebow
:lmao: What a wuss. Couldn't hold out.
Maybe he finally got tired of looking foolish??

He's not there yet...but has shown all the intangibles and IS IMPROVING. His pocket presence, passing, and decision making seem to be a little bit better every game. We all knew he needed a lot of work on his pocket passing game. Many thought he'd never improve enough there to make it as an NFL starter....I think we're starting to see that he just might.

His numbers would look better with better receivers, not good (yet)...but better. His will to succeed will get him through and he will make it.

As some of my fellow Broncos fans have said, the bottom line for us is that it's a great time to be a fan of this team. This is probably the most fun I've ever had as a Denver fan, the 2 Super Bowl years notwithstanding. And I'll be damned if I'm going to late the haters ruin that for me. Hell, they actually make this ride even more enjoyable.

:lmao: I'm taking sig bets this week. I get New England for anyone manly enough to take the bet. 1st real team they have faced since the Detroit beatdown. The Tebow even gets to play the 31st ranked pass D.

Well aren't you the brave one.

Wow as ugly as it is to watch Tebow run that offense, and as much as I want to hate the guy, I can't help but respect the way he goes about his business. His response to Urlacher's "I guess we got beat by a good running back" comment won me over.
What was it?
Not sure on the entirety of Tebow's response, but this is what caught my attention:Urlacher: "I guess we got beat by a good running back"Tebow: "I guess that's a compliment coming from a good player."
That might just send Urlacher into a roid rage.

So the 8-5 Lions with a +62 point differential are a "real" team but the 8-5 Jets with a +57 point differential are not? Those 5 points must make a huge difference.Since a handful of 7-6 and 8-5 teams aren't "real" teams, just how many "real" teams are there in the NFL?New England's best wins this year are the Jets (8-5), Bears (7-6), Cowboys (7-6), and Chargers (6-7). Incidentally, 3 of those teams are teams that Denver has beaten that you're writing off as not "real" teams, and the 4th isn't any better. So I guess the question is, if the Broncos do win next week, now that we're out of new excuses are we going to fall back on one of the old ones instead? You guys have done a good job at prepping ahead of time this week. You can either go back to 5 weeks ago when they could only beat bad defenses, or you can pull the same thing you did with the Jets/Bears/Chargers where you use them as examples of "real" teams and then renege on it when they lose to the Broncos.I guess the good news is that, since any team that ever loses to Denver isn't a "real" team, you'll always have that excuse.By the way, way to man up and offer out even odds on a game where your team will likely be a 7 point favorite, :lmao:

What do you expect? It's FavreCo. He's a comedian.

So Tebow's success is largely due to poor defensive play, mistakes on the field, missed opportunities and the like.

And yet, in the 4th quarter, Tebow is making plays, not making mistakes on the field, and capitalizing on his opportunities.

Conclusion: Tebow sucks.

Hmmm.

FavreCo and others have already set up the out. "Oh but NE is really bad against the pass," is all you are going to hear from the haters if Denver wins. And if Denver loses and not even if it doesn't happen this week, but if they run the table and lose in the Super Bowl, it will still be, "Oh, I told you so."

Have you been all over my ####? I'll take any bettors but it won't be as fun. You got aliases that are older that 2009?. I don't need the PM function. I'll lay it right out here for all to see. It's a one time bet for The Tebows at home straight up vs the Pats. Basically winner get 1 year in the other guys sig with whatever degrading thing he can come up with that fits the board terms. Failure to comply results in permanent banishment by the mods. Look at it this way tebowners, you can get rid of FavreCo for life if I fail to comply. That shoudl be worth the bet right there.

3.5 Q's worth of pure suckage and success vs prevent D's. That's what ya got? take the bet.

I don't think it's right to call that long pass to Thomas a "perfect strike" or even a drop. The ball was a little too far in front of him and he barely touched it with his fingertips. Yeah you could say that you'd like a 1st round WR to make that play, but you could also say that you'd like a 1st round QB to hit him in stride. Both guys were slightly off on that play.

If the DEN defense can't stop Brady & CO, and they DO run out to a Packers/Oakland or Jets/KC lead, THEN I'm fascinated to see what happens. How will Denver run the offense? Can Tebow throw down 2-3 TDs against a mediocre pass defense?

I don't know what to expect here save that it's unlikely to be boring.

Thomas short armed it. If he'd extended his arms fully, it wouldn't have hit his fingertips, it would have landed square in his palms. As far as deep balls go, you can't really do better than that--Tebow put the ball in a place where his WR didn't have to break stride at all and if he had fully extended his arms it would have hit him in the palms. And not only should we expect better than that from a 1st round WR, we should expect better than that from an NFL WR period.

No you Tebow lovers will blame any loss on the bad receivers who should be able to catch his uncatchable balls or for running the wrong route.. But hey you probably never have to worry about losing when you have the messiah under center.

I love how Tebow can win 6 games and none of it is in any way related to him, but if the Broncos lose one game to a team that they are 6 point dogs to, Tebow sucks and it's sig worthy. Some people will grasp at anything I guess.

jeez. That's all you can come up with? I mean you are right, he did win all 6. Prater had nothing to do with it and the defense? Those hacks are so bad they rarely allow 20 points.

The Broncos right now are probably not as good as the Pats. Is Drew Brees a bad QB because the Pats might beat the Saints? Or is Tom Brady a bad QB because the Saints might beat the Pats? I'm really not sure what you're proving. The argument I've seen in this thread is that Tebow is playing well and a lot of the reason the Broncos are in the playoff hunt. Not that he's great. I don't think I've even seen a single person in this thread say that Tebow is the sure-thing long-term solution. I'm not sure if it's schtick and this is an act or if you hate Tebow so much that you can't react in a rational way.For perspective Brady is on most peoples top 10 all time QB lists and will be a first ballot HOF guy.

Tebow is playing well right now.

No he's not and one of the top 3 in the NFL could beat him so there!!! Or at least that's what I'm taking out of this. Am I misreading?

You can either go back to 5 weeks ago when they could only beat bad defenses, or you can pull the same thing you did with the Jets/Bears/Chargers where you use them as examples of "real" teams and then renege on it when they lose to the Broncos.I guess the good news is that, since any team that ever loses to Denver isn't a "real" team, you'll always have that excuse.By the way, way to man up and offer out even odds on a game where your team will likely be a 7 point favorite, :lmao:
What do you expect? It's FavreCo. He's a comedian.
You in?
No, I'm not picking Tebow against Brady. I don't know what you're proving.
Proving that you are all talk. I thought The Tebow was good? He's beating all the best teams in the league. Just ask JBPH.
Actually, I'll just repeat that "Tebow is making plays, not making mistakes on the field, and capitalizing on his opportunities." if you ask me. But carry on.

I'm not sure if it's schtick and this is an act or if you hate Tebow so much that you can't react in a rational way.

For perspective Brady is on most peoples top 10 all time QB lists and will be a first ballot HOF guy.

Tebow is playing well right now.

No he's not and one of the top 3 in the NFL could beat him so there!!! Or at least that's what I'm taking out of this. Am I misreading?
Somewhat. He's not playing well at all. He's playing horribly for 3.5 quarters and only when the opposing D goes into a shell and a prevent D does he actually put up numbers. It seems that the minority here actually see that. The 'bet' is to see who really has totally lost their mind over this guy. My take is long term he won't cut it. He won't be as bad as Vince Young or Carr or Garrabage but he won't be good (2 of those 3 making the playoffs at least once). The guy is getting all the credit for the wins, even though he himself credited the team after this one but all you hear is TEBOW this and TEBOW that. Same #### heard about Vince Young when that teams D kept them in games. That's nothing on him, it's more on the clowns praising a bad QB because the team pulls #### out of their ### weekly. When is he actually going to do something in the 1st 3 quarters?

You got someone like schnikes saying that the WRs suck (in his own words - worst in the league) when they are on the verge of losing. That a ham & egger like Mike Thomas is better than all of the Denver WR's when that guy does zero in JAX. He would do exactly the same here since he is a small WR and you gtta be big to try and catch The Tebow bad passes. That the coaches are to blame for not letting The Tebow play his game (once again, only when they are losing).

Actually, I'll just repeat that "Tebow is making plays, not making mistakes on the field, and capitalizing on his opportunities." if you ask me. But carry on.
Maybe I missed that but ok. I'll give you that. He has for the most part not turned the ball over and anyone with a functioning brain cell knows that statistically if you don't turn it over, THE TEAM is more likely to win.

:lmao: I'm taking sig bets this week. I get New England for anyone manly enough to take the bet. 1st real team they have faced since the Detroit beatdown. The Tebow even gets to play the 31st ranked pass D.
Wow, this was some serious ownage. Well done!

Farveco: consider the absurdity of this: at this point last year, McDaniels was fired on the heels of a 3-11 record. Denver was well on their way to the #2 overall pick in the draft. Just 2 months ago, The Broncos were 1-4 and thinking about Andrew Luck or RGIII. All the world was telling us that Tebow was never going to be a legitimate NFL QB.

Fast forward to today, and you are trying to get people to bet you straight up on the Broncos beating AFC favorites New England Patriots, led by captain cool Tom Brady. The mere idea that you think these guys are close enough to being equivalent to not warrant a point spread speaks volumes.

I will not be taking any bet; I think NE will win this game. However, I also thought that Mia would win, along with NYJ, SD, oak, and Chi, so I guess that shows what I know.

I can't see the Broncos winning this game & I'm as high on Tebow's FF prospects as anybody.

BTW, the dynamics on players like Tebow & Ingram (as well as Forte at one time) are fascinating to me. It's interesting how some players just irk the heck out of FFers, LOL.

Sadly there will be a day when tebow is no longer out there starting (and starring) for an NFL team for the enjoyment of NFL fans everywhere. I recommend that everyone watch the weekly train wreck while it is still playing. He needs to come up big soon if he wants to take this circus on the road. Maybe he can pull a miracle against KC in 2 weeks. Other than that pipedream, his ### is going to be shredded.
How has that worked out thus far?
If he can hold on a little longer, he will go up against my SD and NYJ defenses. I'm rooting for the guy. Then we will plant him in the ground like DET did this past week.
How did that work out? Shall I keep bumping your inane posts, or are you ready to concede, rather than just changing your position every week?

Serious question.

Do most of the people watching think Tebow is a legitmate NFL QB now? Not that he's a top 20 guy, just good enough to be a starter (top 32 guy in the NFL) or if not at least good enough to be in the league (top 64 or 96 QB). The argument when he was playing Miami/Detroit was that at best he'd be a fullback after he stunk it up this season. Just curious. I think especially after the improvements I've seen he's good enough to be a QB in this league. Still not sure he'll be a starter in 2-3 years but I think absent injury he'll be QB on a roster 5 years from now.

I don't think it's possible to take a team on a 7-1 run and be 8-3 overall as a starter and not be a "legitimate NFL QB." That doesn't mean he's anywhere near the top QBs in the league now, or speak to his potential to ever be in that group. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, etc. all won Super Bowls and were never much more than average players. Tebow does things right now that help a Defense/Run oriented team be successful, namely add a running threat that helps eat game clock and not turn the ball over. He also seems to perform on a different level late in close games. Speaking as a Bronco fan, I didn't expect this. Even up to a few weeks ago, I felt the team needed to address the QB position long-term. Tebow has changed my thinking on that because he's shown rapid improvement. I'm not sure he'll ever make the jump he needs to in accuracy to be an elite QB, but I think the team would crazy not to take that chance now based on his leadership and intangibles.
