Tim Tebow - 8.17.21 Waived By Jacksonville (2 Viewers)

Gotta love Merrill Hoge. He should change his name to 'Flip Flop' Hoge.
Facts are facts--young team predicted to win 4 games goes to the playoffs wins first round and loses against a powerhouse, 95% of the Denver fans are happy right now.I have been a fan for 42 years and this is the least disappointed I have been with a Denver loss ever. This team is going in the right direction for a change.I know you were hoping for otherwise, but there is a fresh crop of QBs about to be drafted that you can "hope" fail, sorry this thread didn't work out the way you hoped it would. :banned:

My goodness some people are just insane in this thread. 9 of 26 for 136 yards (with only 13 yards on 5 rushes) is horrible by any measure. This was against the #31 passing defense in the league (for those who hold Pittsburgh's #1 ranking from last week as something special). My goodness Colt McCoy's worst game was still 14-22 for 148 yards and who is going to tell me Tebow has a vastly inferior supporting cast than Colt McCoy?

I am not saying Tebow is awful, in fact I think he has shown a lot and has legitimate NFL QB upside, but some of you need to stop making excuses for his horrible play. He was awful tonight, that's a fact. He shows moments of brilliance but we see below average play 70% of the time supplemented with 30% brilliance. However when that brilliance fails to show up you get this type of outcome. He has shown potential but has massive work to do.

He sucked tonight. Own it, Tebow lovers.

ETA: I own it when he has a great game so let's see some honesty from you and stop with the blame game.

:goodposting: Tonight's loss wasn't fun, but wasn't surprising given that the Patriots ARE a much better team. And rallying from a 1-4 start to a division title and a playoff win over the Steelers made for a helluva run. Tonight might have sucked, but it was a fun season overall.

Hey, The Tebow has them going in the right direction. Solid numbers vs a pathetic #31 ranked defense.

Damn! You sure got these guys. :hifive:

I think they need some o-line help - or health - and maybe somebody more fluent with this offense as an OC.
correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this OC change the majority of the offense to play to Tebow's strengths? I don't know how anyone can blame the OC for Tebow's struggles.

Someone has to take the blame. True tebowners will find someone else to blame.

Spin it however you want, but I was there when you began to post in the Miami thread and you never ever thought it would end this way, so may I suggest you start a research on a 2012 QB from Pueblo Tech to start a thread on because we in Denver are pretty happy right now with the direction our team is on....

Awful numbers against the #31 ranked d, excellent yardage numbers against the (depleted) #1 ranked d.These games are going to happen in the growth of a QB but I find it insane that the first few posts after the game were making excuses and blaming his supporting cast. Tebow had an awful game and it was no one's fault but Tebows. I just want to see people own that.

I can do that at the same time as I run this thread. I'd rail on Gabbert but he doesn't have the insane blind following that this place does. This place it too much fun to just move on and it's too early to see if any of the 2012 rookie QB class has the excitement of the tebow.Best hope for your team is to try and copy the SF defense. It's your only hope for success.

It's no surprise to anyone either.

The best part of this all is that everyone on this site cares more about Tebow's play than he does. What a joke. This guy has a vision for his life that is way beyond his QB accuracy and win percentage. Of course he wants to win games but in the end its the impact he has in peoples lives that are important to him. It just seems silly a little bit, especially because the posters on this site do not just keep it to his play on the field. I think his look on football and his goals for his life really put things in perspective.

You gotta post more in here. I haven't seen such outpouring of love since the North Korean supreme leader died. You also forgot about ESPN. They care way more about how The Tebow does.

Honest question, do you think you'll be happy with where the team is in 3-4 years from now? Most fans go through that transition point where anything less than the SB isn't good enough. Saints, Falcons and Steeler fans aren't sitting at home happy about their seasons right now. Brees and Big Ben wont be questioned because they have already won the big game. Matt Ryan is already being questioned if he is good enough to lead a team and he is a better QB (at this point) than Tebow.

I am not religious, but I am saying a prayer for you...Lord: Please let FavreCo's trailer park lot be paid and let his dial up not fail, and please, let this not be his last can of PBR, but in the spirit of Tim Tebow and forgiveness, please let Sara Underwood from G4 appear at his door and show him the errors of his way.Amen.....

:lmao: Awesome. You got me on that one. 100% better comeback than your sticks & stones one. Trailer park & dial up was :thumbup:Opps, that was divine Intervention. He needs to get with you on comebacks.

The best part of this all is that everyone on this site cares more about Tebow's play than he does. -I hope this isn't true, but if it is...is that a good thing for supporting Tebow? What a joke.

This guy has a vision for his life that is way beyond his QB accuracy and win percentage. Of course he wants to win games but in the end its the impact he has in peoples lives that are important to him. - I agree with this. Tebow the person appears to be far better than most people in the NFL

It just seems silly a little bit, especially because the posters on this site do not just keep it to his play on the field. - Sadly this is just the nature of the beast. There are other threads to take the off field stuff.

I think his look on football and his goals for his life really put things in perspective. - But in the end, this is a football message board. If I feel the need to call Tebow a crappy QB, this is the place to do that.

Can't believe people are still making excuses for him at this point. Reminds me of Vince Young fans a few years ago.
You trying to set me off? Actually I am surprised at the lack of blame. I've seen more on ESPN from just Deion Sanders until McNabb (of all people) set him straight.

No idea at all.You have to remember we (meaning Denver fans) sat through nasty after nasty Super Bowl blowouts and yet we continued to believe in Elway before the two titles. So the fans here are patient and Tebow has shown what he can do...now can he do that on a week in week out basis will be the test. No one knows what the future holds.

Actually, FC, if you read through all your posts, this thread has gone nothing like you thought it would.

Not blaming the OC. It may be my lack of familiarity with this offense but sometimes the running game looks sloppy - maybe that's how it looks when run well - I assumed otherwise.

Did that D look like the 31st ranked D to anyone? They looked awesome to me...best D Broncos have faced all season. I've never seen so many negative plays, esp in the running game.

Tebow did not play well, but I didn't think it was terrible...certainly not the worrst QB of all time as some would have you think. He played like you might expect a QB playing on the road in his 16th ever start against a belichick defense.

If I were to place blame for this game, our lack of depth @safety would be #1, having a MLB who can't cover #2, an offensive line allowing massive penetration #3, coaches failing to adapt #4, depth @ WR #5, and Tebows play #6.

See what I did here? I'm not absolving Tebow from blame and I'm not makimg excuses, just pointing out the larger issues. Remember - this team was 4 -12 last year, there's only so much patching up that can be done, especially w/o an offesason.

I think it's funny that the Tebow haters are quick to pin wins on the team, or injured opponenets, or whatever, but pin losses on Tebow. I suppose the Tebowites do the opposite, so maybe it evens out.

Tebow accounted for 3 less yards than Brady did in last years playoff loss to the Ravens

Tebow has made tremendous strides as a passer. His most common mistake now is getting under the ball. That can easily be corrected. When he gets more consistent, Tebow is going to give defenses absolute fits. Of course the Broncos need better personnel, which will help, but this kid is going to be a player (& an even better FF player).
Tim Tebow defenders are like soccer moms defending their awkward soccer-playing kids. No other quarterback in the history of the NFL would be treated so lightly after a blowout loss in the playoffs.

A couple days ago Skip Bayless said he thinks Tebow should ask for a trade. What if him and a 3rd rounder was sent to Jacksonville for Blaine Gabbert and the 7th overall pick.

I'm simply evaluating Tebow as an FF player, which is why we're on this board. No more, no less.I think your comment does show what kind of powerful dynamics are tied to Tebow, though. I find it absolutely fascinating, LOL. It blows my mind how outside forces can carry so much weight in evaluation (& it clearly does to some people). Not necessarily saying you, but the hate he generates is unbelievable. It goes beyond FF.Me thinks Tebow is going to have the last laugh, but it's going to be a wild ride either way. :)

Elway and Brady say hi.

Elway himself said the team is on a three year plan. I can't find a Bronco fan who predicted they would be in the playoffs let alone win a game. The team was destroyed by McDaniels during his tenure and there is little depth on this team and the starters are below average at numerous positions.Regardless of who is QB this team has serious holes to fill. Build the team up and if Tebow continues to falter replace him in 2-3 years.

Wow crazy deal .Gabbert looks like chum so far into his career but that would be a nice deal for Denver and probably do wonders for the Jax fan base

I've never seen so many negative plays, esp in the running game.Tebow did not play well, but I didn't think it was terrible...certainly not the worrst QB of all time as some would have you think. He played like you might expect a QB playing on the road in his 16th ever start against a belichick defense. If I were to place blame for this game, our lack of depth @safety would be #1, having a MLB who can't cover #2, an offensive line allowing massive penetration #3, coaches failing to adapt #4, depth @ WR #5, and Tebows play #6.See what I did here? I'm not absolving Tebow from blame and I'm not makimg excuses, just pointing out the larger issues. Remember - this team was 4 -12 last year, there's only so much patching up that can be done, especially w/o an offesason.I think it's funny that the Tebow haters are quick to pin wins on the team, or injured opponenets, or whatever, but pin losses on Tebow. I suppose the Tebowites do the opposite, so maybe it evens out.
:goodposting: This team getting to the playoffs was a huge bonus as they were not really expected or ready to be there. Getting a taste of not only making the playoffs but winning a game allows them a couple more games to truly evaluate who they are going forward. This team has some pieces, but the holes were obvious last night while watching that game and hihgligthed nicely by moleculo. Next year will go a lot into seeing how much Tebow can improve. Tebow this year proved you can win games with him, even big games in the playoffs, but it is obvoious his play needs to become more consistent. The extreme highs, and extreme lows are not a recipe for long term success. I personally think he can correct many of his weaknesses right now and become a legit long term starter for the Broncos.

Tebow got exposed for what he is: A very inexperienced QB who was overwhelmed in a road playoff game. But if winning "only one" playoff game and losing to New England is some kind of Mendoza line for young QBs to meet, I'm afraid it's going to be hard to find 32 quarterbacks to lead NFL teams.

The AFC West might not be the best division, but it's probably the most competitive. Any of the four teams could win it. At some point Denver will need to give Tebow professional NFL receivers and see if he can hit them. At some point Tebow will have to prove he can complete a string of passes and not make a completion the rare unexpected play in a quarter.

The Broncos are probably very happy with Tebow now because he's proven he can do the one thing they want him to do: Make them money. His rabid fans are buying jerseys and other merch. It's nice that he wins games, but the Broncos are now courting a new, rabid fan base to go along with their already-loyal following. They're making new fans and selling gear all over the country because of one young guy who happened to take them into the divisional round of the playoffs.

I don't get the blind loyalty to Tebow, but I don't get the hate, either. He doesn't have seven kids with eight different women*, he doesn't beat his girlfriend, he doesn't do drugs and he doesn't text photos of his junk, humiliating his family in the process. Normally first-round picks get coddled and people make excuses for them for years. Tebow has been held to a harsher standard. I don't recall a first-rounder being treated so coolly by team management.

Headed into Saturday, 24 teams would have liked to be where the Broncos were. Give him some decent targets and a full season to see what develops. If he doesn't work out, move on. But the guy is good marketing and pretty good limiting turnovers. He might develop into a guy who can win a Super Bowl. The least Denver can do is find out.

* I know that's not possible.
