Tim Tebow Rookie Haircut (1 Viewer)

If it were anyone other than Tebow, it would be brutal. However, if Tebow wants to, he can literally grow a full head of hair overnight.

I'm so disappointed in this kid for succumbing to hazing and not speaking his mind. And here I thought he stood for something. Boy, why can't they all be like Dez.

:goodposting:

Knowing Tebow is Mr Religious I think it's hysterical because he looks like Friar Tuck, and also his team mates from all accounts love him to death already so by him doing this they are going to love him even more. He probably will be told he can shave the whole thing off in the next day or two.

Tebow is a great sport and he's willing to do almost anything to be a leader on the Denver Broncos, I sure am rooting for him.

That haircut has to cost him a lot of $$$, he won't be able to do any public endorsements for awhile. Have to give him a thumbs up for being a team player. I am sure he asked "why can't I just carry Orton's shoulder pads"?

He already did that too ---- Without complaining even. Good to see classy guys in the NFL. Not more guys like Dez

Pretty sure he already shot what he needed to. It's football time.

And yet Dez is going to be a superstar and Tebow will be irrelevant in a couple of years.

A real live fortune teller who would have known but either way Tebow will always have more character and Dez will always be a me guy but in Dallas that's a good thing just ask Irvin and his crack buddies what role models.

Disappointing that people don't like this. Hazing rookies is football ritual that is a unfortunately dieing out. Good Hazing like this is funny and builds team chemistry

I'm a tOSU student and hate Tebow with a fiery passion but his words and actions since leaving school have been nothing but class. He is really making it hard for me to hate him (gonna go watch some National Championship film). I think its pretty cool that a guy with his status and making that much money doesn't take himself too seriously.

What does sticking up for yourself do except alienate teammates and create bad press and locker room tension? Dez's actions made him look like an arrogant jerk while guys like Tebow seem to be having fun with it. I wonder who I would want in my locker room?

It is amazing to me that his teammates love to to death already, and then comparing all the Tebow hate I read from posters who don't like him because of his religious beliefs.Sounds like jealousy to me.

I tend to agree with this.

100% agree BN, this the SP not the FFA so I won't get into religion but anyone that reads me in the off season over in the FFA would know I have pretty strong religious/non religious beliefs yet when it comes to character guys like Tebow, like Tony Dungy, I have a massive amount of respect for them. The guy has something extra to his make up and no matter how you define it you cannot deny it either.

 This has to go a long way to improving Tebow's reputation with his teammates.

hmm . . . that does seem to be the general concensus; however, I am not going to dismiss Tebow so quickly. He has certain intangibles which could lead to success on the field: He has a strong work ethic, great leadership qualities and excellent athletic skills. Tim Tebow is a winner. He is the type of guy a team wants on the field. His enthusiasm and love for the game is contagious. He reportedly has the support of his coaches and teammates. I like this report of Tebow paying his rookie dues, as so many others before him have done.

If I was his teammate and I had some questions about his leadership, the fact that he so unselfishly let teammates cut his hair would erase all doubts. Guy is going to be an all time leader of football players. After all, they let them give him a haircut. Not like that selfish, evil Dez Bryant. Teammates will never respect him for his shameful display of not carrying a teammates shoulder pads. How could you possibly feel good about playing with a guy who won't sing his college fight song, pay outrageous dinner bills, carry teammates equipment, or let other teammates cut his hair!?!?!?!?. I bet the Cowboys want that pick back. Ouch.

once Dez starts catching balls and scoring TDs the bag thing will be forgotten. How can a player be a leader if he never produces on the field? will be hard for little Jesus to lead on the side lines, do not fall for the Tebow hype, the guy was an over drafted player who will never make it in the NFL as a QB

Note: Mocking a person's religious beliefs, particularly when those beliefs have (by all accounts) helped shape that person in to being a decent human being, makes you look ridiculous and immature.

I don't remember you saying anything like this in that Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf thread. In all seriousness I don't believe he's mocking his religious beliefs, I believe he's mocking him....and if you can't mock him, who can you mock? There comes a point when mentioning religion incessantly in the presence of cameras turns from worship into obsession and narcissism.

Exactly. Broncos are now my favorite to win the Super Bowl. I'm sure come week 15, when the team is facing adversity, they will all think back to how their backup QB let them cut his hair back in August, and the team will rally around this and push on to greatness. This is how championship teams are built!

:goodposting: I pretty much despised the guy in college but he's been a model teammate so far and the Broncos coaching staff and players pretty much universally love the guy and he's making progress. I've almost totally come around on him.

agree completely... :goodposting:

One thing is for sure. Josh McDaniels has a plan, and is well on his way to implementing his plan. He is building a team with a bunch of high character team first guys. There is no room on Josh McDaniels' team for selfish crybaby me first guys like the Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler, or Dez Bryants of the world. Josh has chosen to sink or swim with his philosophy, whether it works or not is yet to be seen. I Kinda like what Josh is doing in Denver, it's a pretty ballsy plan, I hope it works.

Cannot be said enough times. When you are playing a tough game, late in the season, with playoff implications, you need leadership that can only be earned by partaking in some hysterical rookie ritual. Now the Broncos have it covered. Dez Bryant should take notes. Because if Dez finds himself running wide open, he better understand that Tony Romo would rather throw the ball to a double covered Kevin Ogletree, because when Ogletree was a rookie, he carried Patrick Crayton's helmet in training camp, thus earning the entire teams trust and respect.

Obviously people are talking about team chemistry, and not who Romo would rather through too... A happy team is better than aggravated team.. A "we" mentality is better for the team then a "ME" mentality....Don't play daft...

There's a reason why a guy like Hines Ward has multiple Rings and a guy like Terrel Owens has none...
Hines Ward let his teammates give him a crazy hair cut? Or he carried Louis Lipp's bags? Paid the dinner bill as a rookie?Football is a team sport.

There's a reason why a guy like Hines Ward has multiple Rings and a guy like Terrel Owens has none...
You're right; there is a reason Hines Ward has multiple rings and TO doesn't. Actually, there are hundreds of reasons, and most of them boil down to the fact that Pittsburgh has been an extremely well-run franchise for a decade or so. They've put together a bunch of extremely talented teams and enjoyed some fantastic coaching. Whether or not Hines Ward was a good teammate or submitted to mild hazing is a microscopic part of that equation, just like Terrell Owens being self-centered is an almost non-existent part of an enormous equation that explains the performances of a dozen different 53-man rosters across several franchises with entirely different coaching staffs. Be reasonable. Similarly, the fact that Tebow is a super terrific happy high five football player isn't going to matter. Being an NFL quality QB may actually matter, though, and that one is way up in the air. Likewise, Dez Bryant's attitude towards mild hazing is probably not going to matter when he's making secondaries look silly on Sunday.

Winning alone will lead to good "chemistry," but "chemistry" alone will lead to a lottery pick.

:lmao: Chemistry, and to a lesser extent, character are two of the most overrated things in professional sports. It sounds good, it fits the image that corporate America loves and uses sports to sell, but its largely BS.

Tebow can be the swellest guy on Earth but if he cant play QB at the pro level his teamates, and most everyone else, won't give a damn about any of this.

I heard his tears can cure cancer too.
That's true.Unfortunately, Tebow never cries. :lmao:

Because Hines Ward is consistently voted by his peers as the dirtiest player in the league?Man I can't stand Tebow. It has nothing to do with who he worships, it has everything to do with the media's worship of him.I was at the 2008 national championship game in Miami. Anyone who was half paying attention not on Tebow's jock would feel the same as me. It was awful what ESPN was doing. There is a reason guys like Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy dislike him.

yes.and, i'll add that we, as sports fans can overreact to things, or make judgements from media spun snippets of the truth. the Dez thing was overblown. all other indications since joining the Cowboys, point to him being a "team" kinda guy. i guess we'll see.

this is a business and results are ultimately what matters. all you need to to see proof is, looking at T.O.'s career.

Tebow may be known as a "character" guy, but if he tries to play QB in the NFL as he did in college, they'll be taking him off the field on a stretcher sooner than later.
