Time to stick a fork in Shady McCoy? (2 Viewers)

Shady is a franchise RB and under contract until 2017. Get real, bud.

Kaepernick 2.0
Can only hope this thread gets as much love. It has me thinking, are we looking at a Foster/Tate type scenario? Both if given the lion's share can run wild in that offense, but it's clearly Foster's backfield when 100%. Wondering with what we're seeing here if we have a similar type of split in the future when both are healthy, and Brown plays his way into mandatory snaps.

I'd like to see more than a half of football before making any serious judgement calls. Did you see the size of the hole on Brown's TD run? McCoy would have had the same result on that play.

I love Brown, and own him in almost every league, but the OP is smokin some serious stuff here. Nobody is about to stick a fork in McCoy

It's only one game. Talk to me when he has done it for a whole season, you know, like Shady did last year and the year before.

Andre Brown looked like he was going to supplant Bradshaw after his Carolina game too. Carolina is horrible!

Just sayin!

It may not be out of the question at least for ROS. Shady still hasn't progressed past Phase 1 of concussion recovery and Vick is already in phase 4 (whatever that means but I would assume it means Shady still has a ways to go). Additionally, you think the Eagles management trots him out there when the season means nothing?

Next year is obviously different but this has RBBC (granted a good one) written all over it esp. with new coach and a bad QB.

Brace for a bunch of Brown owners trying to convince you (and themselves) that this is true.

My guess is McCoy is out one more week. Then it's McCoy with Brown getting 5-10 touches a game. Maybe a few more in weeks 16 and 17. As an eagle fan I knew his talent and grabbed him but I am not expecting being able to use him beyond next week. Needs to hold onto ball too.

Personally I think McCoy is out 2 more games, but that is a different topic.People nowadays have too much of a recency effect, where they let what is happening recently or currently cloud their judgement. This isn't a Smith vs Kaepernick situation. McCoy has been a top 5 running back for 2 and a half year. It will take much more than 1 monster game to overcome that. Bryce will resume his 3-6 carry per game role when McCoy is back. All this does is assure that Eagles that they have a legit back-up, and therefore can spend free agent dollars and draft picks on other positions.

lots of guys look fresh coming in playing against guys who have been grinding it out all year

similar to demarco murray last year to me except shady is vastly superior to felix

if all the bitter frustrated eagles fans want to toss shady to the side Please let them ship shady. would be nice to see him actually utilized somewhere. the issuehere is lucky timing. coming in and playing against a bad, tired team half way throughthe season and not having to play WITH vick

then bolded illustrates an exploitable inefficiency. astute nfl coaches should play competent backups for significant workload later on in the year.

Brown looked fast tonight. The Eagles were able to execute their game plan to some degree and run run run to keep the ball out of Foles hands. They are a horrible team though. McCoy isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He is the best player on the team.

This will be Brown's best game by far. Trust me, the Panthers contributed big time. Before people get too excited, I submit:

1) Brown will be an absolute fumble machine. Even after the two fumbles he didn't protect the ball. He will get stripped repeatedly.

2) People will watch film, and with how bad Foles decision making his you can just put 8 in the box. Brown will get stuffed.

Nice game though.

Sure, if the 23 year old rookie Foles and the 21 year old rookie Brown never change/improve and they stay the same players they are now throughout their respective NFL careers. These assumptions fail to take into consideration their age and their NFL experience. These are two young guys who are playing their first NFL games, to make statements like this based on what we've seen thus far is pretty ridiculous.

:goodposting:I couldn't believe how vanilla the Panthers played defensively with the Eagles featuring a banged up OL and rookie QB.I want to see what Brown looks like next week with Demarcus Ware living in the backfield. The Cowboys will be bringing a lot more heat up front.

I still think the focus here is the health of shady. There is no reason to rush him back if not at all this season.

McCoy is now a late 2nd/early 3rd in dyno.
I don't know about that. If guys like Chris Johnson and Ryan matthews can have their issues and still tread higher ground, then Shady will too. After the emotion of it settles down and we get into the off-season, people will look back and say "You know, he was still a top 10 RB despite the magnitude of issues in Philly and the train wreck that was." People will lean on the side of giving him credit. And really, all it will take is for them to get a fresh coach in there saying the right things and everyone will be thinking he will bounce back to what he was, if not be better. Imagine for a minute that Kyle shanahan gets that job and says "I'm going to bring what worked in Houston and Washington here". that's all it takes. time will heal the frustration and the bottom line is Shady IS one of the most exciting backs to watch in the league and people remember that.

I've got to be honest and say that while this is overly negative, it is probably closer to the truth than the Kool Aid drinkers who think one good game equals Stud.

they're both pretty ridiculous if you ask me. they're both extremes based on limited information without any consideration of the future which is really what we should be looking at here!

Carolina has 27 sacks on the season - Dallas has 24.

I think its all going to depend on what type of offense the new coaching staff runs next season. They are very different runners.

I actually lie Browns chances lt based on talent + low mileage (college) Especially with how shadys concussion seems serious. but the OP and his reactionary half time-ish proclamations crack me up.

good gravy, carolina's run defense is terrible. you could have driven a truck through those holes last night.

lesean is a total rb, and a top 5 talent at that, namely top 4
