timschochet lost the debate, who is next? (1 Viewer)

Tim already lost. He broke the 3 post rule.
The rules don't say you lose if you post >3 times. If you post more than 3, do we take the first 3 and throw out the rest? Does Tim have a chance to delete posts to get down to the best 3?

I wish the people in here would just relax, from the initial post he laid out a little groundwork for this thing, post, respond in 24hours, respond, etc. With everyone else's opinions and extras being thrown in this is getting ruined. Should have known it would never be a few posts then we could all say what we wanted too...until it hits the 24 hours mark, he is fine to post, don't give either side any extra information, facts, etc and let them hammer it out.
exactly! doesn't anyone here understand the rules?! idiots.

I get the feeling that many of those who say they don't like Tim only say that because he has proven them wrong, or forced them to re-think positions. When you post as often as Tim your bound to rub some folks the wrong way. He hasn't done anything to be hated in my opinion, and I say more power to you Tim!

JJ on the other hand.... Terrible alias and schtick.
Tim's waffling drives me nuts occasionally but is generally a solid poster and nowhere near in the same league and johnjohn, who does nothing but troll and provides absolutely nothing interesting to this forum ever. Tim's contributions are in the net positive, whereas johnjohn in a short time has to be triple-digit negative.
:goodposting:

I absolutely think this place wouldn't be as interesting without Tim. Even when I want to bang my head on the wall reading his posts he does move topics along and gets conversations going. My biggest gripe with Tim is more a style thing, he states positions in absolutes and can be very arrogant with anyone that disagrees...but then the next day will adopt the position he was disparaging the day before.

Never understood the hate for Tim. Now the JJ hate I get completely. I like Tim. I don't always agree with Tim but he's an OK sort.

If tim is like this in real life, i would still have a drink with him

JJ i would not have a drink with either way.

I always picture Tim looking like one of his avatars. Except Groucho.

Tim, you need to go back to the Liberace-looking guy pic with the cigarette holder.

Tim is a good guy, but he drives me crazy. Right when he starts to sound well reasoned and balanced, he starts watching MSNBC and falls off the wagon again.

This thread is turning into a Tim lovefest. I like Tim too. He is always fun to read and talk with.
well to be fair, look at the other option

it is like a gal asking their ugliest friend to be the maid of honor, it just makes the bride (even a homely one) look better

tim = bride (possibly homely)

jj = ugly maid of honor

I'll contribute - I like Tim too. And I agree with whomever above that this place would be worse without him. He makes discussions much more interesting.

Ever noticed the little comment under JJ's avatar on :e:?

Disgusting evidence on what kind of person he is.

I have not read much of johnjohn, but is he so disliked just because he's an outspoken conservative?

You need to brush up on your archaic dictionary when arguing with him because he will interpret words to mean things that they no longer mean. Also, know you are a brainwashed liberal sheep so your points are not valid.

Fine. Don't worry, I'll make it short.

African-Americans suffered through centuries of slavery in this country followed by a century of Jim Crow discrimination. Though most of that has vanished since the civil rights movement, the legacy of it remains- in the utter poverty of so many black people, the disintegration of family life, poor education, crime, etc. If as a result of all this, a certain number of blacks see racism even when it doesn't exist, or when an even smaller number express racism themselves, it should come as no surprise to anyone. It's also of very little significance.

While certain white groups, mostly immigrants, have faced some discrimination in the past, it was never equal to the black experience, nor were they discriminated against for being white. Certainly anyone growing up white in this country has no institutionalized memory of racism, no fear of being stopped by police because of their skin color, and, statistically, face much better odds of a good education, a better standard of living, and economic success. So when I hear white conservatives complain about discrimination and a "double standard", I think it's pathetic.

Your turn.
You know when I first read your post I wanted to set you straight, but I realized anyone that thinks like that can't be set straight.

up for a friendly debate ?

The topic will be White discrimination. You seem to think white people NEVER face discrimination but you only use emotion , not logic to explain why. This thread is your chance to use logic to explain your point.

After you do that I will have up to 24 hours to respond to your point and when I do you'll have up to 24 hours to respond to mine. (if either of us fail to respond within 24 hours that's a forfeit)

We will each get 3 posts and after we use up all of our posts we will let the people decide who won.

You always call me out as being unable to hold a debate, well this is your chance to prove it.
Done.

That is the best I am willing to do on someone that thinks like that.

Did you not read Tim's post ? He must troll himself every day with his own belief system.

You wanted a debate and you failed to provide a counter to what he wrote.
