i wonder if Cuban doesn't re-negotiate Dirk's contract to give him back the cash he could have earned this season. Dirk took the paycut to get good players on the team. Give Dirk his money back if they can't do more right to him, y'know?
I don't think he can. Can't renogotiate NBA contracts.
Under certain circumstances, contracts can be renegotiated, but it doesn't happen often. Have to see at least three years into a 4-5 year deal, have to be under the cap, the renegotiation has to increase salary - can't renegotiate a pay cut to create more cap room - and the raise can't put a team over the cap.

Some contract extensions can include renegotiated terms on the last year of a current deal to balance out a cap hit.

(If you don't have access to the CBA, this is covered in Question 61 of Larry Coon's NBA Salary Cap FAQ .)
Thanks for confirming. Don't have it with me at work :)

Part of me now wonders if Dirk retires at year's end, about the possibility of a 1-year max like Wade did this season, and how strong a front office role Dirk will transition to on what timeframe. Finley works with the team, but I don't think it was until 2012. Quick search shows he retired in 2010.

In any case, the Cuban-Broussard thing is way more fun for a Mavs fan than the Jordan disaster of yesterday was.
Cuban not done yet..

@Chris_Broussard how about this. You post any proof I was calling/texting his friends asking anything I give 100k to charity of yr choice.
Meh. Cuban is probably covering his tracks with that dumb Cyber Dust app of his. Texts "disappear" after 24 hours, right?

The SportsCenter guys did a lot of jokes last night about Jerry Maguire, Bob Sugar, and the Cushman family. I guess those weren't jokes to the folks at the Forth Worth Star-Telegram.

Worst defensive BPM by players 6'11"+ since '73-'74 (min. 5k minutes)...Guess who's at the top of the list: http://www.basketball-reference.com/pi/shareit/nnzEj

However, it looks like Presti will most likely match the offer: https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/619239420378480640/photo/1
surprised pek is only #10
Great list. Reading the names brought back lots of memories of big unathletic stiffs
 That list is a BWS convention.

Also I'd definitely add Wes Matthews to the list of people to feel bad for here. Maybe Roy Hibbert, who is now stuck putting up with an ###hole aging former superstar on a bad team when he could have been playing with a really fun aging former superstar on a .500 team.
Wes Matthews may be the most aggrieved person here because he took less money to play with the Mavs after he found out Jordan was signing there.
Nevermind. Wes's contract went from 4/57 to a max 4/70 now that Jordan isn't signing there - that's even more than the Kings were offering him.

i think it was i will take therapist for one hondo alex kobmes way of saying look at how many rings i have to the warriors or in other words hi i am kobme no one likes me i suck i shoot to much and unattract other good players and oh by the way should be in jail take that to the bank bromigos

OKC restricted free agent Enes Kanter signing a four-year, $70M maximum contract offer sheet with Blazers, league sources tell Yahoo.
 for my Uber team.
He's not going anywhere...this is just Portland making OKC really pay the luxury tax.
Lol they're going to pay the tax for HIM?

I can't wait till Durant leaves there.
Superlike.

There are so many wonderful things in here, but my favorite might be some ####head from Atlanta telling everyone what a real Texan is.

DeAndre can stay in L.A. for all I care. But I tell you what, he better sell his house in Houston. He dont deserve to live in Texas anymore. A real Texan keeps his word. Eric Paz, an engineer for Stryker Communications in Fort Worth. Originally from Atlanta, he considers the Mavericks his second-favorite NBA team behind the Hawks.

I don't particularly care that he changed his mind. The rules said he wasn't under contract so he can still do what he wants. But I do think it shows a serious lack of maturity and/or professionalism to not respond to Cuban and say "I've changed my mind."

Also, when chandler parsons says things like "I just think he's scared to be a star and is happier playing behind CP3 and Blake" it makes me wish he were still a rocket.

Finally, the idea of fouling him 50 times the first time they play is good, but don't do it in Dallas. Do it in LA. Embarrass him there and make those fans sit and watch him clank free throws for five hours. That's what I would do.

The problem with the Hack-a-DJ strategy is that the Clips' bench is a steaming pile of garbage, whereas their starting 5 is really good. You're not really going to wear them down if they're getting a blow after every defensive possession.

It seems clear to me that lee Williams and Gil lebreton are engaged in a highlander-style death match of hot takery.

That is fantastic. Hottest of the hot. The first line alone is one of the best things I've read this year.

Everyone have your DVRs set for Brown Sugar's debut tomorrow? Showtime is BAAAAAAAAAACK!

If Wes Matthews is such a great guy for staying true to his word and wanting to be a Maverick as Cuban says, why did he give him an extra 13M?

What is the upside for Parsons to take down Jordan? He wants to be a gm as he said when he was flying high. Sucking it up part of the gig.

Parsons funny because rockets let him out early to FA. He did what was best for him. Strictly business.

Did we ever find out what LeBron's secret motivation was?
He said he would only reveal it when the won the title.

Windhorst reported it was not winning the MVP.

But LeBron, as a self-avowed student of the game and its history, has to know you don't win the MVP every year. Even Michael only won five.

Smart, young, and 2 firsts next year to reunite boogie and Thomas?
Not nearly enough. And Ainge will lowball anyhow. He is the classic fantasy football owner who overvalues all of his players and undervalues everyone else.
