Titans 2018 (4 Viewers)

Sankey last in line for snaps per Titans Insider

Thanks Whis for blowing another draft pick
Our GM as well Webster was truly awful during his time here. You can already tell this new GM Robinson is much better. Robinson did a fantastic job getting all those draft picks for our number one which is something i guarantee Webster definitely would've screwed up. Sankey looks to be a goner after the roster gets down to 53. You are definitely correct another wasted pick.

Bleeding is much like Hunter, but for the D.

He has decent size and it's surprisingly rare to be 6-2+ in the NFL at CB.

Teams bring in a zillion DBs during the off season. It didn't really benefit them to cut him and bring some udfa (who will likely be cut) in his place.

Riggs stole his spot as did oh 2 or 3 last year. He was burned and benched, then inactive. They signed some former steeler DBs. He's gotta see the writing on the wall. He's an elite(ish) athlete, so why not let him through one more camp where they can see if pride "drove" his offseason training?

He got some time with the ones in minicamp, near the end. Kudos to him. He earned it in Lebeau's mind. Can he do it in TC with full contact?

One thing guys forget every single offseason is that if a WR is rocking, a DB is burnt. Tajae Sharpe could have breathed some life into Bleeding's career. Maybe.

I doubt there's anything here but I get that he's worth one more look.

I always struggle with the notion of teams getting a look at starters and taking away reps from guys that need it. Backups? Eh whatever, take a look.

The baseball WR going from 10th? to getting reps with the ones, had to hurt some DB egos. Could be Bleeding was the only one to stop him? Idk but... it's gotta play out.

I remember he has hands and speed, can he return kicks? Is his ego gone and now he can be a ST ace? I'm curious and non-expectant of him

I'm missing antonio andrews already. I was very curious of him with a year under his belt and a better OL.

If he is 3rd, 4th RB or elsewhere, I'm gonna miss his style of play.

If he does leave, I want to see him play in cold weather. I think his hardnosed style would be a pain in the neck in the cold

Why does the temperature have an effect on the style of running back play?

Hue Jackson seems to believe this too. I being from Minnesota just don't understand this idea. I feel like I am missing something.

It's an old belief about sore hands and all in the cold. Studies to prove and disprove it-both seem true.

It's not so unlike the theory it's hard to tackle a big back in the 4th Q

I think the idea is that bitter cold amps up pain from collisions, so defenders get less "enthusiastic" about bringing down the big guys late in games if they've been getting pounded consistently.  No idea if there's any truth to it.

Titans signed a lineman yesterday. He was not expected to make the team. Maybe there's embarrassment? or buyer's remorse? because he is still not listed as an NFL transaction.

Tennessee Titans: This offense leads the league in rushing.

Tennessee will attempt to limit Marcus Mariota's pass attempts, similar to what the Steelers andFalcons did with Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan, respectively, early in their careers. In fact, the last time the Titans enjoyed success, they were securing home-field in the playoffs behind rookie Chris Johnson and LenDale White (before White's career succumbed to cookies). DeMarco Murray and second-round pick Derrick Henry should receive at least 25 carries per game between them. Despite their "Thunder and Thunder" moniker, they are different players. Both are downhill runners, but Henry is 6-foot-3 and 247 pounds. The dude outweighs Murray by 30 pounds. Henry is a runaway truck when he gets going. Can't wait to see him take off behind Taylor Lewan and Jack Conklin.
From NFL.com Bold Predictions per team

It was so nice to watch Mularkey's presser today. Like a sign that the wait is almost over

Two things that stood out to me-

Antonio will be third and then of course Cobb and the rest of em'. Did not mention Fluellen or Sankey. The tone was of a gap Antonio AND THEN

All 11 WRs were told they're starting over and no one is starting or all 11 starting, think of it as ya want. (Yes 11)

Even though they don't have a 4th QB, Alex will get the time of the 3rd and 4th. Cassel needs work in this offense but, something along the lines of, he won't need much work the last couple weeks. Worry of Mariota injury yet keeping him active and back to bringing up Alex getting a lot of time. Yeah for you Youtube Star, but possibly the most important part of the WR competition (for me) is which WRs work best with Mariota.

Maybe should also say kudos to Amy Strunk. She spent a truckload of $. Fans will see every seat replaced. Players get a new bubble, new locker room, and....there's a list of sorts in Wyatt's article. Kudos to her for doing her part to change the losing atmosphere and invest in the team.

I probably would have expected 2017 to be another year with them 15-20 mil under the cap, but if she's gonna spend that may change. 15 mil of salary could offer a big improvement and really matter if ya think about it.

From a fantasy perspective, I'm now thinking Hunter sticks around (disappointing) but is there any chance Tre keeps a role?  With Wright, Andre, DGB, Hunter, Sharpe, et al, I see a lot of potential being clogged up.

I'm not sure Sankey has what it takes to succeed if he lands somewhere else but Cobb?  I'd love to see him traded and off to a start with a new team.

I don't know why you guys love a 5th rounder like Cobb, but you're not alone so he'll catch on somewhere.

Sankey is very talented, if not productive, so he will definitely sign somewhere. I'd bet he is one of the better receiving backs in the league, he's just so rarely used as that. Last year due to injuries, he filled in at WR after sitting and losing his spot. You "can't" forget that he has run behind arguably the worst line ever and a ...oh I don't know bottom 50 type one. Both years they also took away his fullback.

Something stinks with Hunter that we don't know of.

The reporters are all VERY different on Hunter. He is the starter and definite cut. I mean no one knows. He's like those excellent Detroit WRs from a decade or so ago- all the talent in the world, but ya gotta produce.

Then there's the notion that NFL teams do not cut top talent, well the Titans have tons of talent at WR but no production.

My prediction is still Kendall is cut or traded.

Tre is cut or PS IMO. They have (for the most part) two types of WRs, short and quick and then tall and fast. I mean he's not backing up DGB but makes total sense to backup Kendall. I think he is going to be a good one for some other team. I see it as either he steps up right away and shows he's better than Sharpe or he's gone. They won't keep both.

Sharpe is very thin, twig like, and I am extremely leery of him blocking and being manhandled by NFL CBs. Tre took his lumps last year and that's gotta help. Sad thing is these two are probably the most precise route runners on the team. In just their brief time with the team, I feel like they put so much time and thought into their craft that others don't.

Wyatt tweeted Chad Brown is working with the Titans this summer.

Need someone to help Dodd transition to LB and anything he can do to improve Avery would be great.

Remember Steve Hutchinson is working with OL this summer.

I love this. Whisenhunt shooed away this type of veteran involvement from everyone but Eddie and the Titans had an excellent tradition of guys coming back.

Hoping for more. Roos watches them closely and tweets a lot. I'd bet he's a phone call away. There's tons of young linemen that could all benefit.

Wright had his 5th year picked up. $7.3 million. Guaranteed. I don't believe he will be cut.
That was my prediction from like April? May? Mularkey's slot does not get much work. Looking at Mularkey's career Kendall's looking at 15 catches for like 200 yards- that's not worth 7 mil.

He did excellent today.

I look wayyyy off.

He also got a lot of work today as Delanie got little. I'm struggling with the notion that he'll be the first (in what 10-20 years?) to be a good Mularkey slot WR for FF but, today's camp sure seemed like he would be. I don't "buy" that Delanie will be used less, but he sure was today. I got my own growing pains here I guess.

What I am waiting for and think is inevitable is Hunter/Andre/DGB taking back the starting spot away from Sharpe. Then he is pushed inside fighting Wright for time. That won't be good for either in my opinion but...like I said, I've been wrong today.

From Andre thread and more...never know where to post-

Making a big impression already.

I don't know if he's a starter, but based on the tweets and watching Mularkey presser, he is in the core group....already.

(I hate when Mularkey does things like this, Whis did last year too) He arrived last night and spent an hour with the coaches. He had run one single incorrect route today, so Mularkey wanted to see just how much he picked up in a night and kept him rolling. Still just the one oops. That's incredible and caught everyone's attention.

They have 11 WRs, can't do that. Some depth WRs must have got almost no time today

Anyway Mularkey was floored by him today.

Andre presser was on after Mularkey. He didn't look like he was glad to be talking to reporters again- looked like aww geez here we go again.

Loved his "my career speaks for itself" answers to Qs.

In shape? Been working out since March. (I was looking at pics on twitter and his guns are there, guy's arms have always been huge)

Doesn't like to talk about $, players code not to, didn't really answer Deandre Qs but to say he supports whatever he does and is like a lil brother to him.

He said terminology is different otherwise he's been around long enough that he didn't have any issues with picking up the playbook.

He said this is a very talented group, shook his head and said very very talented. (Yep a lot of high picks that haven't panned out) Still it's nice to see him blown away day one

He called Mariota a great young QB with a great arm and these last two were the only times he cracked a smile and didn't look all super serious.

He made some catches that lit up twitter-fans and reporters- so they must have been nice.

McCourty said something like we're counting on him to make plays

************

Let's recap last year

Nicks looked like his ol Giants self in minicamp and first two weeks of TC and was almost assured a spot starting, then he hit a wall or somesuch and fell all the way off the roster.

Andre is not Nicks

**********

Hunter has two good days now

DGB barely mentioned by tweets today and not once in presser. Matthews either, but there's an air he's a pros pro and assured a spot.

Wright made an amazing catch at the end of practice and did very well today from the slot. Hunter beasted over some DB one one side, next play Andre did over another.

If five, two days in, they are Matthews, Sharpe, Wright, Hunter, and Andre. Not DGB. It's a long process, his turn to respond is all.

Still no contact, not til next week. Basically mini camp part II or refresher or somesuch

Lebeau and his DBs must be "dying" for contact. They have "no chance" against these huge WRs without some contact.

Sharpe played all 3 today. Wright was solely mentioned in the slot.

They set up routes differently for him and "he seems pleased with the change." Remember his adlibbing habits? He is allowed to change based on where the DB is. It's just inside, just slot work, but I think Robiskie "nailed this one" and Kendall will be happy again. The great catch he made was him reacting to a DB, then a LB, coming to him and taking off deep making a great grab with the safety on him. To eat up 3 defenders...that's a Kendall we haven't seen in years.

Did not like "wish I saw Delanie catch more" tweet

No mention of RBs or defense.

OL was just that they need to settle on a core five by week 2 so they can gel in time for season and discussing how they have to evaluate.

One thing maybe people don't realize but Mularkey is very much into and discussed all spring- they love the cameras at practice and record everything. Mularkey dissects it and has even said once he was up all night, watched it three times. There IS another scenario before they take the field again. In some pics you can see him with an IPAD or tablet showing a video on the field the next day.

He catches up with the players before practice and tells them all he saw. The press doesn't hear this, of course.

4? 5? times in just a few weeks of rookie/minicamp a reporter asked why player X was promoted/demoted/etc and he explained he saw something when he went over the film of the practice. (Just a brief time, mind you but...) This is always about the guy's NOT mentioned.

Day one. Show up on time, answer some Qs about play book, do some conditioning tests, then follow along while the number of plays in the playbook are increased exponentially- Mularkey calls this "the install."

When everyone (pretty much) speaks, that counts as a day of being consistent and a day of significance. Since 99% of the time I'm relaying info, please keep this in mind.

DGB is said to have one good one eh practice. Hunter two good practices.

Although they've had just one practice day, if Mularkey is going to grade the first day as a day I figure we might as well

Since there's 100s maybe 1000 pics of yesterday....going solely by pics of guys that look like they are friends, the starting OL should be Lewan Spain, Jones, Matias, Conklin.

Warmack doesn't look like he gets along with others or has ever had a conversation with them. Surely he has, just saying from the pics.

Poutasi and Schwenke appear to chitchat later with them. That rook lineman UDFA carrying stuff seemed to be getting some good teasing from Lewan and then the two of them are in the locker room chatting

Go with that eight. See ya Warmack. Give them the summer to "bond" more. It's 12 padded full contact practices. The 8 can provide each other with enough breathers. Skip the third string and all that, just roll with this group all summer

There's something very high school clique-y about the pics and...roll with it. They all gotta battle together and be shoulder to shoulder all game long.

DGB and Henry got time with ones.

PK tweeted not a good day for DGB

Now "everyone" tweeting Henry has botched a handoff and fumbled it

Can they get something for Warmack later? His contract is guaranteed but I believe he already got his roster bonus, so only 675K base salary. Might be cheap enough to hold onto him as a backup

Mularkey said today that DGB had a very good practice yesterday. This was not the impression I got (at all) yesterday so this is the reviewing film stuff I was talking about

They have a bunch of "all the talent in the world" guys that they'd like to get something for. It appears other NFL teams are going to wait for waivers then pick them up. I think maybe super late in camp they'll get offered a 7th or even conditional 7th for some of them.

Antonio did real well yesterday. Today he was looking good in drills and then did not appear to get any work in 11 on 11 today. Cobb got all the third team and non-"Thunder" work. Sankey made a few plays yesterday, no work in 11 on 11 today.

Not sure what's with that

Crooms has been getting on Henry but it's not like Cobb last year. Henry is responding. PK posted a video where he told him three times to get low and in proper stance and it took til the fourth time for him to do it right. He did, went down the line doing it right several times.

Poutasi was the one to sub-in for Warmack, but Matias ran with twos. Poutasi didn't get much work as he would if he ran with twos but he was called upon.

ASF battling for a roster spot per Koetter.

He got kicked out of practice in the spring, mouthed off on twitter and looks "done" in Tampa. Brate is doing well and I don't think Koetter wants ASF around.

Hopefully the NFL will all be leery of a trade and Titans can use their WW priority to land him. I have zero worry of Stevens, Walker, and Fasano "straightening him out."

Titans are real old at TE and (if not this) this is exactly the type of move they need to keep an eye out for.

Walker seems to have "extra life" from sitting in San Fran so long, but IIRC they are all 32 this year. Gotta keep an eye out for a future player to add.

Classy move by Titans to re-sign former Titan Tim Shaw for a day. ALS is beating him down, but he's "making lemonade" and gave a great speech the other day to the team. Really looks like a guy you just "have to" root for- such spirit.

How many TEs do they need? Didn't they add a bunck this off season? If ASJ really is a locker room idiot I'd rather pass

UDFA U of Tennessee guy who didn't have many catches and Cunningham that the Jets cut. I'm not sure either make it. Maybe over Supernaw.

When do you think Fasano and Stevens retire? If not him, that's fine, but I'd like them to keep an eye out for someone

They won't retire this year unless cut, which seems unlikely. Problem for next year then

yeah no no, exactly...next year.

ASF or some good young player could replace Supernaw and others for the fourth role in 2016.

Aaron Wallace high ankle sprain.

That's concerning. They have LB depth. He played for Spanos in college. He played all four spots in rookie camp and shifted some in minicamp. Still...he's looking like PS or signing elsewhere.

Spence got more time after the injury, did well, got bumped over Woodyard and did well again. Tavai played all four last year. If he moves inside when Dodd comes, with Palmer(from GB) I don't see it. He's got zero chance of beating out Dodd and Bass at backup OLB.

Good luck moving like a LB on a HAS, nevermind beating guys out for a spot.

Okotcha was waived/injured

Terrific high school player, went to  OU and another big-time school IIRC and then a small time college program. Maybe D2?. UDFA was his chance and...he blew it. Shoulder injury was not dislocated and not presented like it was major. I bet he tries out and signs somewhere, the talent is there-he's nice to look at, but I don't think it translates to the field.

Hunter is mentioned less and less and less. Fans, radio hosts, small time reporters say he's doing well. Not one "name" reporter is even mentioning him. Mularkey and OC and GM haven't said much, if anything, about Hunter.

I am really wondering what's up. The disconnect is he's doing well every day and Mularkey preached consistency. He has never done that so if he is finally ummm...what's going on?

If Wright sits (I expect he will) maybe Hunter gets in more. DGB is struggling and they should (technically) put Hunter in to replace him. They're not though, they are being patient with DGB.

Kudos to Robinson. He needs more OL, but when you think about it, most positions are so stacked that the depth guys have little chance this year.

2014 and 2015, UDFAs made the team with regularity.

That's a key building point.

To raise the talent above that, that'll make them winners. If they can improve/draft/sign where a starter becomes a backup, he's really going to be onto something.

It's ironic because I liked Webster finding diamonds in the rough as UDFAs, but most of them are all on the bubble this year.

I would guess two cut RBs and at least two cut WRs play elsewhere. If Huff gets cut, Fish will probably sign him because he's weird like that. They could have a couple DL sign elsewhere and LBs too.

TItans cuts didn't really get picked up all that quickly in prior years (outside of Fish) so that's going to be a nice indicator of the talent level being higher this year

Andy Gaillick out again today. He's probably done.

Kendall Wright out again. Mularkey went from thrilled with him to looking real annoyed and saying "I want guys that want to be out there on the field." He CAN afford to miss probably. Does great first day back and he's fine here.

Mularkey said Quenton Spain does very well most of the time, but he's been messing up in big way when he makes mistakes. Schwenke is starting to push him. He was a G in college.

Tretola has zero press thus far. Heisman trophy winner better get rolling.

RAVING article about Conklin http://www.titansonline.com/news/article-4/First-Round-Pick-Jack-Conklin-Settling-in-with-Titans/ff3ea5ef-e69e-4ccf-8608-6f2676703fdc Which is just awesome to see. Really soothes the soul after years of bad line play

Second best DE as per Madden, Second best TE as per Madden- Jurrell Casey and Delanie

I have noticed that about Henry too, for example in the game against Clemson, Henry is getting stuffed a bunch at the beginning of the game, but as the game goes on defenders just don't want to tackle him as much anymore, and he starts having big plays. I have seen that happen in some of his other games as well.

Mularkey called Fowlers role in offense "Big" and then raved about him.

Sankey was excellent recently but 7th back to get a carry today

Cobb had his second good day today.

If you didn't see Faust's post, Terrance West is rocking in Baltimore and could very well be the starter

You may recall I wrote often about Josue Matias last year(wouldn't shut up about, is a fine way to word it) as their line struggled and he was sitting on the PS after a nice preseason.

He played LT friday with the second unit and Poutasi played RG in his place. It's coming out that he did very well.

Having really owned the 2nd team RG spot all offseason, if he can be the backup T too, then some former draft pick is getting cut.

What would be the Chance of that?

I wish it'd be him. I still think that guy can be a tackle or blocking tight end even, he is so athletic for a lineman. Well whatever, I just wish he wasn't frustrating me anymore.

I'd put a fork in Gaillick in the least here. He's even injured right now which only adds to the negativity.

Titans released their first depth chart

Tretola at backup LG is wha? so many comments from people there saying that makes no sense.

Fluellen's spot it interesting

Adios Bishop Sankey listed last

Hunter above DGB is WOW

To read it, PK explains you go all the way across, then down, then across, then down

1045 the zone is at the scrimmage

They're in studio with John McCain on the phone

App reads 15 min or so left of this show. Hoping they chitchat and do something relatively close to play by play

I don't think that's how it is read.

Looking at Riggs who filled in for McCain- he "can't be" fourth at one corner.

The RBs, the WRs.....how are you guys reading it?
