Yep, great stuff Bri, as always.

This would mean that again, any non starting receiver is worthless for fantasy purposes, and it would be hard to see how those starters are not Matthews and Davis. Whether either of those two will be fantasy relevant remains to be seen,

I would assume that Jonnu would be used in a chip role on occasion, i.e. chipping and redirecting the rusher that comes on his side, then moving across the line for quick over the middle/dump off passes to keep the front seven from being too agressive.

Oh and colour me surprised that we did not get more TEs in the draft :lol:  

 
Robiskie just had a presser.

Amaro is buying into it and much improved. He mentioned he ran with the ones today and blocked very well. He ranted about missing a block so you sacrifice your body for the team and get the block anyway; that way even the blocks you miss work out. He said Amaro didn't miss one block today.  

I'm telling you that Cali RB ain't making it... he said they won't put plays in for him until he makes the team. There is no way that guy can run the same plays as Henry. He's like 5-9 and 170 pounds, little bugger. When it was said he had two bad practices, he just made a face, didn't reply. Ya don't draft a third down back that struggles to block and has 17 receptions in college, that was dopey.

Who is third RB? Fowler. (duh tone) You saw it today.

Q about a hit? Don't come at our QB hard in OTAs and we won't hit ya. I'm not gonna apologize for that and I'm sure **** expects it too. 

Some Q about injury? Fowler doesn't care if the pads are on. You come at his quarterback, he's gonna get ya. We have told them time and again. You heard "Malark" talk about it yesterday. You don't hit our QBs and don't come that close. You saw who was running after practice too. He's probably still running.

Couldn't hear Q? **** got on him pretty good. Those are his guys. I don't worry about that. **** isn't gonna tolerate that either.

He spoke highly of Smith said he got up and ran and looked like he could run all day. "very willing blocker."

(Note neither Smith nor Amaro mentioned as receiver probably because the Fasano/Stevens role is open)

Tajae "one of 90, I'm glad he cut his hair." NOT reassuring to hear.

some Q couldn't hear- Tae did some good things, but you saw he has some issues

I know some of you don't like my facial reaction posts, but Robiskie is so transparent. If they put this interview on their site or PK posts some of it, ya gotta check it out. 

He spoke of Taylor again doing very well. Then he spoke of excuses he doesn't want to hear in the passing game. If it's zone, get open. If it's man, get away from him. If they're pressing you, slap the H out of them. He said the O has a great mindset for the run game and he wants that dominant mindset in the passing game. If they call all hook, then Marcus knows one of them is getting open. Then "so Taylor is doing well?" Eyes all wide, leans forward toward reporter, "He is getting it done. There's no excuses with him."

There were Qs of the D which he said that's ****'s group but people continued to ask. Then he went back and spoke of Matthews. Ryan made a play the other day and then Matthews went back at him again and made a few plays. Today those two were battling. We all know Rishard will do anything possible to get open on every play. That's what we want. Then one of the four will get open. Another Q about D, he said I'll tell you this. They switched up who was covering Rishard and we made them pay. That's what I want. Another Q about D- big stare and 'that's ****'s group.'

He said someone named Todd is counting plays. (no clue, even after googling) They plan out how many each player gets and with which group. Amaro ran with five groups today

Davis he's not giving anything to. Gotta get healthy come in and produce just like everyone else. That's it with everyone on the 90.

Is Taylor starting? Let's see when the pads come on. We've all seen many WRs look good without pads

Some Q about Cassel getting more time. Matt (cassel) will benefit if he's sharp. I mean if he makes the team. Went on a rant about telling everyone they're not just one of 90, they can go out and get another player too. That's out problem. You do your job, that's your problem, focus on you. 

A way someone can impress that maybe people wouldn't notice? In the rooms. Every year someone is attentive and sharp in the (position) rooms and we see something special in them so they make it. 

Is Taylor best in WR room?

No! (crazy type no way response) Harry has been around, Rishard has, he probably won't be the best either. That's not expected of him. 

He rambled about every spring new people(rookies) come in expecting to lead a meeting or tell others how it's done. Those guys never make it til they change their tune and it won't be on this team. We already let some of them go. (Roderick? Maye?) You go in one meeting room and Corey and TT(Taylor?) are trying to get all they can from Harry. You go into another room and let's just say there's a young guy that knows too much. 

Q about young guys being silent not offering opinion

No, that's not what I said. Marcus has already benefitted from having Tyler around.He's a good runner, a smart runner. He's going to help Marcus and he's going to help him to stay healthy.

So is Tyler starting over Marcus? Could you see him unseating Marcus?

Are we good? yeah? OK Thank you (Same voice that wouldn't drop the Lebeau Qs)

What a dumb Q, ended a great presser where the OC is rambling. That was shaping up to be one of the better pressers of the last year and he killed it with yet another stupid Q. Oh that guy bugged me.

The thing to always watch for with Robiskie is "one of the 90" means he could be cut. Robiskie loves to ramble about players he adores. If he says "one of 90" you can assume someone is a potential cut and not necessarily a starter. 

 
Tonight people nitpicking that Amaro can't block in OTAs really, how good could he have been. Maybe maybe but we do this dance every year. I don't care. Good is good. It's one day and I like that a veteran returned with a new focus

But as he said they're still in shorts, so two months from now we'll start to find out for real.

Absolutely premature. See what happened last year with Sharpe who now seems to be on the roster bubble (I still don't understand how completely he fell off the map after four or five games - is he that much of a one trick pony?)

From FF perspective Titans receivers with the possible exception of Walker is fantasy wasteland - and if Smith can be used creatively and Amaro can block (two big ifs for a first year player and a never been able to block to save his life player) then even Walker's stats may fall off.

But it is nice that the receiver group starts getting positive press

That's a bit of a stretch.  Rishard was the 21st wr last year.  If you mean it's hard to tell who will be the guy to own this year I might agree until Davis gets some experience.

The upside is obviously that during the games Tajae Sharpe contributed (the first four or five, IIRC) Matthews practically did not.

But overall I'm not optimistic on finding fantasy gold among the receivers

I think Davis is golden (in dyno) and Mariota passes more in his 3rd year.  Agreed that rishard isn't likely to be the 21st wr again but he's drafted around wr50 while Davis is around wr36 in redraft.  Bottom line imo, the Titans receivers are being undervalued right now. You're probably right about the lack of gold in redraft but there's silver and bronze to be had.

And to clarify, I was only speaking redraft.

I hope Mariota will pass more/more efficiently but I think "Exotic Smashmouth" will prevail this year again as Henry gets more touches

I think it's going to be a case of 1 WR Rishard; til about week 8, then the 1 WR is Davis. 

They do have a need for a guy that can make a big play from the slot (or outside and move Matthews inside for a down) for a play. An electric type sub, maybe 4-5 passes, most weeks catches 2 or 3. This could make Taylor FF relevant while one of Davis or Matthews isn't. All in all, I think Mularkey messes around in the slot so no one will predictably flourish. One guy this week, another guy next week, third the following week etc. Last year Murray rocked in the slot for the first few weeks, Wright had a decent game, Douglas made a couple good catches, etc. Walker plays the slot too and just lining up there can get him a nice matchup. All of this combined makes me think a slot WR won't be FF relevant.

The thing re Taylor versus Sharpe. Sharpe was "his hands" "his hands" "his hands." He wasn't very big or very fast. He ran good routes in the summer that turned into sloppy ones in season. His hands weren't so great either. He had awesome hands at UMass so he could definitely get it together in that regard. He could run better routes and we're blowing things off as rookie nerves. Taylor has HUGE play potential and studliness that Sharpe never had. When Greg Cosell compared him to Antonio Brown and ODB, I muttered no stinkin' way. After the radio show, I did watch tape and went hmmmm. I think it's the hands and suddenness. Like Brown, he doesn't look that good or that quick and then he moves laterally two steps like a cartoon character. He catches a ball and is racing up the sideline then stops, defender goes by, so he cuts across the field. There's some real advantage to how he understands and utilizes his lateral ability. I'm not saying any of the three aren't fast, it just doesn't catch your eye til they side step. He grabs at the ball with two hands, snatches it, and I sooo love that. Few NFL WRs do that, mostly a little kid thing. His protecting the ball when he runs is downright awful, but the Titans old coaches will hopefully fix that. He's got some playground to his game. He wants to catch it and shake N bake. He doesn't have the best moves (just a lateral one) but he's got that pause after he catches it. He's very twitchy very unique. I don't know how he'll do as a pro, but he's very interesting.

Our WRs have stunk and been predictable. Let's face it. It's the first time in idk how long that there is genuine competition. If Sharpe can show his hands are great again, he'll stay and they'll use him. Remember a dozen or so that had the dropsies? IIRC Titans had most drops in 2015 or 2014 and least in 2016. Matthews is a gutsy WR. Guy is not afraid to get hit or nothing. I could see subbing Sharpe for him after he does that. We could have our first good problem in like a decade.

 
Carraway impressed (this affects Dodd)

Taylor will play Davis/Sharpe's spot next week and was told to study and be ready.

Sharpe was excellent and then struggled

Brown is already considered to have made the team and be a contributor (this affects Dodd too)

Walker was displeased with Amaro and pulled him aside. Lewan jumped in. Amaro did well after this. 

Mars is the only lineman with a perfect grade- not sure what this means but it's gotta be good.

Tretola has fallen way down. I was told he's unusually quiet. The court case? Competition? That guy is all pep, he better get it back if he wants to make the team

Ferguson and Mariota appear to be best buds

Matias has run with the ones some, making my prediction still look good.

One reporter said no one has taken Sims spot and really no one has come close. His mistakes could/should lead to time for Adoree, but so far he is rollin and holding Adoree off nicely.

CT Green has played 3,4, or 5 positions depending who ya ask and how they view DBs. Lebeau was seen motioning toward Townsend (about Green) and smiling. Townsend gave nothing but that Green is really fast. He doesn't usually talk to the press. Only Q to Lebeau was a dopey "he's fast isn't he?" which he confirmed. I feel like there was something here but it wasn't asked. Anyway, might be something to look for in TC.

I don't think fans wholly understand that this team has quality depth. There's a real struggle between understanding prior bad Titans teams and this one. Names being cut or trades are quite possible. Adding Maclin, for example, led to a discussion of keeping 7 wide receivers ummm no that won't happen. If they add him, someone must go. They won't keep 12 linemen or 8 corners either. There's little consideration to the idea that Mariota will only throw for so many yards. People are predicting 1000 yard seasons for 3 WRs and Delanie. Murray and Henry getting 300 carries is absurd. They've lost so much, fans are excited and they sure don't want to hear you say they're wrong on any of this. It's really an odd offseason for discussions elsewhere. 

Mularkey and Lebeau have been discussing rotations, rotating, and subbing(pick your word) an awful lot and now reporters are. It doesn't really matter what position. Could replace two WRs with two subs, two safeties with two subs, three corners with a new three, two TEs with a new two, two or three new LBs in nickel...even Ferguson in for Mariota if it's 3rd and one. I think this development is also a product of the quality depth. Lebeau and Mularkey have been part of bad teams lately too. My own sports experience and writing/fan experience makes me think the result will ONLY be coaches much more active with subs in season. I'm alone though. Others think this sticks and they'll sub groups in season to make the opposition on edge. I also think it's about learning and testing if guys know the positions. I'm not on this train, but sharing so ya know what others are saying. Y'all played sports. Don't you agree with me? You think they'd sub extensively like that?

I agree that it won't happen but when a veteran receiver of his quality is available you at least have to think about it and if their young guys aren't doing as well as we think, just maybe it makes some sense.  

Agreed though, this is a team on the rise and they don't need him.

I don't think so. He has been there twice this offseason and never got a deal. PK seems to consistently tout this guy but it's curious when he leaves without a contract. 

Brown played inside this week and a #### lebeau type safety prowling the line of scrimmage role. They're loving this guy. (Don't forget no pads and he had issues wrapping up in college) He was drafted with the idea of being the backup OLB and/or 3rd down coverage OLB. Ya gotta admit Orakpo and Morgan lack a bit in coverage. Carraway was impressive week one of OTAs and "did fine" the second week. Then there's Dodd. Wallace is still playing all over and they still adore him.

I don't see it. I don't know why they let Bass go as he proved to be a fine backup and accepted the role. I think some are penciling Walden as Bass' replacement without recognizing the rookies and Wallace. 

When a DC, an old DC, loves a hustling young player we can safely make a lot of assumptions from that. We would almost always be right. I can't see Walden knocking off one of the new guys that Lebeau likes. 

 
Eric Decker has been seen at Predators games and chatting with Titans and hanging out with them. It seems like a genuine possibility now. 

Check out Titans site for videos of Ferguson. He doesn't look like the college guy throwing the ball. He throws a nice pass, no odd motion, no...nothing. Looks good, smooth. Some "get ready for the Combine" coach is going to get a lot of clients after working with him.

The backup QB market is seriously the worst ever. Ya gotta check it out. Cassel isn't going anywhere and they'll wait on him. I'm not happy about it, but if ya take a sec to think of backups around the league it is absolutely brutal- then think who is available and....yeah it's rough.

A Decker addition would mean a mediocre at best stat year for Davis IMO. Maybe they pass a little more this year however I doubt they stray too far from last years identity.

You're probably right for Davis and the "identity". But Decker's experience would be beneficial both for 2017 and Mariota's development.  I sure hope Robinson wouldn't back away from signing Decker because of concern overy Davis's stats.

Aside from an experienced receiver upon whom Mariota can rely? Walker and rishard have been very good, Davis hopefully will be great, but for 2017 Decker would be Mariota's go to receiver, assuming they get time to work together in camp. 

Maybe the experts can prove me wrong but I think a highly dependable veteran receiver helps a young qb.

I don't know if that's true.  It's entirely plausible Davis overtakes rishard.  Or they go 3 wide, plus walker. 

Taylor and others would lose time for sure.

In his first day as a free agent, the receiver is meeting with the Tennessee Titans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per a source informed of Decker's plans.

It would have been nice if he signed immediately. But he should check out other teams.  Hopefully he wants to win and thinks the Titans best provide him that opportunity.  Or Robinson pays the most, that would be fine too.

 
We lions fans scoff at the idea. Not thrilled at the prospect of Robinson there but we have some guys to compete. In a passing league the pass rusher is the most important piece of the defense, it would cost more than a swing tackle and a pick. 

As far as decker is concerned Nashville makes sense from a family standpoint but there could be other suitors that offer a better shot at a title, I guess we will see what happens. Division rivals Indy and Houston ought to be kicking the tires.

Vegas doesn't agree with me but imo the Titans have a better chance at a title than indy or Houston.  

 
Info on Injured Titans

 Titans coach Mike Mularkey is optimistic about linebacker Kevin Dodd's availability for training camp. Dodd, who is struggling with a lingering foot injury, is "running full-speed", per Mularkey, and it is "highly likely" that he'll be ready for training camp.

Mularkey added that Marcus Mariota (leg) "has a plan" and will conduct his rehab away from Titans headquarters during the dead period. The same does not go from Tajae Sharpe (foot), Karl Klug (Achilles) and Sylvester Williams (ankle), who will all rehab in Nashville until further notice.

I agree, I like the titans to challenge for the division this year.  Houston seems to do better than expected and Indy seems to do worse. CAR, SEA, ARI, ATL, DET could all make a case for needing decker. 

Im a Corey Davis owner so I'm trying to convince myself that Tennessee won't sign him.
