Titans 2018 (1 Viewer)

I didn't make it. I've been sick.

Titans spent time with OK St safety, OU cornerback, and Ogbo during pro days.

Wren had 32 teams interested and had a presser type Q&A where teams could ask about his learning disability and ask him Qs. He impressed and was able to put it into words how he learned what he knows and how he's adapted. The first round talent may not be a 7th rounder anymore. He got more invites than anyone at each pro day. I've seen 20-25 invites which is a sky high number. Teams only have so many interviews they can do so guys like Baker won't be interviewed by the Titans. I think it's fair to say Wren shocked the NFL on his pro day.

Mason Rudolph had a great pro day and the Steelers have been all over him. They have already had two private interviews with him and a third scheduled. They're spending two private interviews on him! He has been a third rounder but after a great pro day some have said first. There's no way six QBs go in the first so while that's not happening, it does put it in context how teams loved the guy and how good a day he had. I'd predict second round. Anyway, I want Dobbs if the Steelers are going with Rudolph. I'd rather him than the late QBs in this draft.

The first three all seem reasonable for the Titans to draft. Ogbo is first round, safety is 4-6th, and cornerback is 6th-7th.

Gil Brandt loved the Sooners FB. He hasn't written anything yet on him but "everyone" says he was eating him up. He did WR drills and drills with TEs besides working with the backs. Brandt is usually QB obsessed. The only negative is he's slow, he's got great hands and is an excellent blocker. I tried and have no one noticing the Titans talking to him.

A sophomore DT declared for the draft in a "what the" way. He wasn't dominant. He was super strong and had good speed for a big guy but awful lateral movement. He's probably a UDFA or returns to college after being undrafted. I don't wholly understand the rules with those types

Back to Dobbs, the Titans were all over him at Tennessee's pro day and just like all the pics of Tomlin and Rudolph, you can see JRob and Dobbs. 99% have this all business face and you can't read anything from it but then there are times when it's obvious a coach or GM just loves a player. JRob loved Dobbs, no doubt. I don't wholly care if it's Dobbs but I want them to draft or trade for whomever they are "in love" with. I don't want BPA at backup quarterback. There's a zillion college teams and probably 8 or so that will be drafted...find one ya love and get him. I don't care who

The Colts were very interested in Ogbo. Someone (I don't recognize the guy in pics) with a Titans hat was hollering at a guy in a Colts jersey for interrupting their interview with Ogbo. Technically it's a violation of rules but no one knows of anyone ever being punished for this. All I'd take from that is both teams want him. Also Colts guy didn't care because there are a bunch of videos of this

The Pats were all over Wren and OK St safety

Seahawks (Fowler's team) were all over Flowers, the FB

James Washington put on a show. Geesh I hope the Titans don't draft a 5-11 WR, but I am interested in where he goes. He's not 6-4 and he's not "stupid fast" like usual first round small WRs are.

The Sooners signed a holy wow five star high school cornerback. He watched and everyone went over to say hello. Guy hasn't played a snap and NFL teams are already interested and know who he is. I found this fascinating

Well here's a what the what...Antwaun Woods supposedly got a raise
I wish I knew what the NFL rules were on stealing "future contracts" players. He got 400k to go from "futures contract" to regular player

A lot of defensive stuff

So Suh wants to play End for the Titans and his former Dolphins DL coach who is now Titans DL coach said they want all three interchangeable and they will change them. Offenses will not know which DL is lining up where. This is the new system they're rolling forward with.

Hankins and Titans have had a conversation. No more details.

Casey passed the reins of workout leader (couldn't understand what the term was) to Antwaun Woods. He said he earned it last year and everyone supports it. If he doesn't have the oddest career with a team....

Every CB and S will be expected to play the other. Every LB will be expected to play all four. (I don't know Pees' voice, I think it was him) Mentioned Trawick as a linebacker. Said you watch him on ST, he's a LB not a Safety. Titans sorely lacked speed up the middle and that will be fixed. Asked if anyone else switching positions and said Dodd is a defensive lineman, played more DL than LB not sure if that's a switch. Morgan is a talent, might be able to play all seven. Anyone else that might play all seven? Wallace and Carraway. What about size or speed being an issue for some? We can give up speed for power and give up power for speed on any given play. Plan going into camp then with starters? Everyone is a starter, all interchangeable.   Soooooooo it's coachspeak. Not reality.

I guess we take nothing from any of this and just chew on it as the offseason goes on

Murray struggling to find a team to pay him. Dolphins are last visit before he and agent regroup. I'm guessing that means til he accepts his age and lower salary. I wouldn't offer much if I were the Dolphins and heard that.

Mike Mularkey has interest from Jags and Chargers. Wherever he lands, JRob should see if they'll overpay for our backup TEs. Two firsts for Luke Stocker!

Ken Whisenhunt doing much of the legwork to find Chargers future QB. Baker Mayfield curiously keeps leaving the Chargers off the lists when people ask who he met with. I wonder if that's his polite way of saying he didn't like Whis. He absolutely met with them

wyatt's got an article with the DBs working out together. I think it's a real good sign to see Mariota and the WRs and then the DBs.

Check out Byard's videos. They almost look easy or "not that difficult" the first time and the second time ya see it, it's just wow. Maybe it's small twitter video window...idk but that's some athleticism he has

Titans signed Kevin Pamphile. He started 33 games for the Bucs in four years and has played all five positions with guard being his strong suit.

One of the interesting things that was said was Vrabel is trying to create a defense that uses Belichick and Lebeau's theories, principles, and.... everything. Sounds great right? Two hall of famers? The interesting point was "people have been trying to do that for decades."

That is oh so true in the copycat NFL.

Is he wise enough? Will he fall flat on his face? I hadn't thought of that before

He must be one of the first to have played in both system to make it to DC (I know he is HC, but still)

Antwaun Woods is FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY being spoken of like he's on the darn team.

He is now the projected starter at NT and writers are writing how he beat out Williams last year

Randall was a superb athlete, I still think one of the best athletes to ever play in the NFL. He once punted the ball 91 yards. When he was young though, the Eagles would call a fourth down play (from an awkward point on the field where it's too far for a field goal like 40ish yard line) and if no one was open, he'd punt. He had a couple second to look for the first down completion and then nope, punt.

Mariota was an excellent soccer player. I don't think he's the athlete Randall was but he could sure motor like Randall and apparently kick the ball. I think the Titans should do this 5-6 times a year when they have that awkward field position. A pooched punt from the 40 probably goes to the 20. It's better than nothing.

Mariota grew up playing soccer and would hold his own playing against many D1 talent high school players. I'm not saying replace Succup or Kern, I just mean for the handful of plays he can probably pooch it

I think I'm going to need some context here...

40 yard line, 4th and 7, down 5 in the early fourth quarter. Just far enough that it's too far for Succup.

Option A-Punt and hope for a coffin corner or if not it goes to the twenty

Option B- Mariota snap it, see if anyone's open for the first, if not then pooch it

Option B would require a lot of special teams training for the starters. And like most trick plays I could see it work once.

Not sure it would be worth the effort, but who knows

Added another guard. Xavier Su'a-Filo who played the last 4 years with Houston.
This is a guy hoping to improve his status in the NFL and a possible cut. They won't keep four guards and he was one of the worst rated guards in football the last two years. Talent and ability are there, some experience too, so it's something of a 'show us what you can do' type add.

I think this means the draft will likely be edge or ILB and that they're not likely to draft a G now. Guards commonly fall in drafts, so it's still possible but unlikely.

If you switch to "former starter as a backup" then yes, Quinton Spain could be signed and traded. (I don't think this happens) There are people talking of that today but he is a better, far better, former starter and due to make 1.9 mil. If we're gonna have a former starter backup, I would rather the scenario of someone trying to beat Spain out.

At the owners meetings, JRob explained his OL philosophy and I like it....if he does it. This will be the third year this group is together. There needs to be a transition between the starters and the backups. He would not be averse to Tyler Marz (said his name three times including as a possible starter for Conklin and Kline) or Corey Levin winning a starting spot. It'll be Levin's second year and Marz' third year with the team.

The contracts of Filo, Kline, and Pamphile are like most free agents- they don't truly take a hit until they make the team. A signing bonus would be about it. A reporter brought up Sylvester Williams's contract. He said the team felt Williams would improve as the season went on and he did at the very end but it wasn't the progress they hoped. In hindsight should you have released him? (No admission) Things are always easier in hingsight or some quote like that. ANYWHO this seems to be what JRob is thinking and that Williams taught him a lesson. This would mark a change in our assumed "my draft picks" and "my free agents" thinking he has and instead evaluate properly. It also means he could begin to be a little frivolous (for a frugal guy...grain of salt) with this new perception that they won't make the contract if they don't make the team.

There was more talk of a fullback at the owners meeting. He was asked if he still couldn't find one and said they found a few and smiled.

It seems more n more that they will have a fullback.

During Henry Lewis talk he also mentioned that both backs have worked better with a fullback than without. Lewis primarily ran without one but this is when he freelances and they don't want that. He said unless you're Barry, you run where we tell you. That's when injuries happen and we lose yardage

Better than Cassell I guess but not the upgrade I wanted.
Gabbert has five wins since his trade from the Jags to 49'ers. Five wins in four seasons (19 starts).

I had hoped for more.

Now get rid of Tanney and draft a developmental QB

I like that!

Texans fans are happy to see Filo go. So much so, they're saying they wish the Jags got him but at least he stayed in the division.

That's not something ya like to see but...whatever. He's young and has talent if not the results. It can't be bad to have young talent at camp.

Cincinnatti (U) has a new coach, but he was Vrabel's college roommate.

Here are some of the players http://www.newsrecord.org/sports/nfl-draft-which-bearcats-have-the-best-shot/article_f578fc92-059a-11e8-bf02-d7546958f00d.html

The S is interesting because draft scout (even at 205lbs) lists an alternate position as OLB. Don't even have to watch highlights, a safety has gotta smack some big hits if that's the case

The CB Stephens was at the Shrine game so he should be one of the best but he's projected as a UDFA. Googling, he also has had visits with NFL teams.

The MLB looks good but slow, too slow.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if one friend calls another to get someone signed as a UDFA for the summer. "Give him a chance" kind of thing.

Can Clive Walford block?

Probably not given that he was cut yday by the Raiders
We probably need to trade a tight end for a 7th or somesuch. Post Mularkey we probably won't need as many. If Vrabel/Lafleur like Kelly as an extra TE then we definitely won't

“Team speed is something that is important,” Vrabel said. “There is an ability, a balance between speed and size and maybe athleticism. But I think we’d always look to make sure we are getting faster at every position to be able to play and compete at this level.

“But I watched Rishard get a screen pass against Seattle, which is a fast defense, and he either ran by them or through them, and scored (on a 55-yard) touchdown. So that is encouraging.”

Wyatt quoted Vrabel saying that.

The Texans had two WRs that killed us deep with their speed. It's not even clear that they could do anything other than run blazingly fast straight ahead and we still got burned. Obviously Vrabel was at those games.

Sooooo let's read too much into this :-)

Titans looking to trade Rishard? Move him to the slot and get Taywan's speed outside? Whaddya think?

Taywan Taylor is working out with PREDRAFT trainers and joining draftable talent. He said that was the best offseason workout he ever had, he felt physically prepared for the NFL and was concerned as a rookie so why not do it again.

Yeah why not? I think that's great.

I hadn't noticed they added Luke Stocker in December - in that case either Supernaw or sandwich is a goner

He can be effective in both but I think he's better in the slot.

Rishard has been great for the Titans, one of their best signings. But it could be time for him to move on. Or not, but Davis and Taylor are the future top 2 targets. Sounds crazy to say it but Taylor could be better than Davis.

Added ILB Will Compton on a 1 year deal.
I wonder if he can beat out Nate Palmer. He's more of a good special teams guy than a starter. He was a UDFA because he was too slow yet a good strong tackler. He played some last year and that was pretty much how he did- good strong tackler but a step slow

All the uniform leaks I see are the same ones I saw last summer. Individuals aren't even removing the graphic designer's logo on the mockup. I don't think any are an actual leak

I haven't followed ST closely (or rather not at all) - did the two guys the Titans signed last year work out as hoped?

If this guy's uniform pic is actual, then I don't mind it https://twitter.com/davidpwoods

I see everyone is upset so I guess I'm just not a clothes guy or a style guy. The white shoulder pads are probably gone in a few years. AAS had said that they would pay tribute to the prior uniform and then phase it out. If that's it....looks like the shoulder pad thing would be gone.

Not sure who ya mean. They signed UDFAs that didn't make the team. Ochi was signed several times like onto PS and off. Ragin III was an Oregon LB I liked. He was too small. Supposedly he has an invite for this year if he bulks up. Other than being friends with Mariota that would seem like a brush off. I haven't heard his name in months so I'm still thinking brush off.

Carraway and Brown you know

LeShaun Sims is healthy or fine or...whatever.

Check out Cameron Wolfe's videos of Titans workouts with Jason Spray OR Spray's videos himself. I'm no doc but geesh no one injured can run and jump and carry weights and do the stuff he's doing

I think they signed two guys (from the Raiders) last summer to three year contracts IIRC
