"in any scenario in our world, would you throw your name in the hat to be the coach of the Titans?"

That's Jeff Fisher quote

Gotta wonder how that impacts the rest of potential coaching candidates.
For him to love it and want to return and supposedly coaching these minor leagues and staying busy thinking maybe someday... and then that?

Mister positive that talked like HR trained him in a meeting room for months at how to only speak positive has changed-

Nick Holz said there's a little of everything to the screen game failing. Sometimes it's a bad matchup and other times the ball probably should have been handed off instead of thrown to the screen.

*****
It's a stupid play call.
Every screen in the history of football is stupid when the defense is expecting it. They're either blown up or an INT.
There's just no sugar coating it or blame to go around anywhere.
Every fan knows it and has been bit by this at some point with their team

#Titans Nick Holz on tempo offense: We'd love to do tempo but you gotta get a first down first. Until we can put together a drive and actually move the ball we can't go tempo. You don't want any 12 second drives. You almost have to rat the right to go tempo.

He's so disagreeable
He must be upset about his buddy being fired.

We'll see but the OC that doesn't design the offense or call plays probably only has a short grace period to cool off or lose his job too

I expect the Titans’ early list of head coaching candidates to include:

- Matt Nagy
- Lou Anarumo
- Anthony Weaver
- Arthur Smith

*****
I haven't been sharing these and probably won't do it much.
Arthur had the #2 offense and a downhill run since. I'll always be intrigued that he could actually buy the team.
Matt Nagy is GM Borgonzi's (common assumption!!!) choice because he was in KC. I don't think he's so similar to Andy Reid or this protege or somesuch to be considered that.

Also Mike McCarthy has been commonly mentioned.

Arthur is "a different animal" because he was in Tennessee. I don't want someone that other fans laugh at the concept of them hiding.

I did not have a problem with the Titans hiring Callahan just that he should have been OC since he never called plays. Good guy, top offense, worked w great QBs.....his resume was almost intriguing.

DC Denard Wilson said this week that he would like to be a head coach. An odd statement but he sort of has to put that out there. I would guess his DC would be Chris Harris. Per usual idk his offensive thoughts of anything but am super strongly on board with he and Harris.

Jim Schwartz is a forever candidate with extremely strong connections to the organization. During his time in Detroit, he did some things the NFL noticed and I've seen mentioned often since like having players make appearances in public to stir up interest. Some hospital has visits every week for a year. One of his players took that to meet with govt officials and ran for office eventually. He also seemed too smart for his own good and made lots of foolish mistakes. This is a very appropriate humble pie give him another chance type thing. It's been a long time since then and his humility makes him unique in the hiring landscape.
There's a good part of a decade that he worked for the Titans not in a well known capacity-
He would work for the NFL out of the Titans offices.
He would get very sick and idk details but the organization was so supportive and it was quietly a big deal.
He famously confronted JRob during bad times. Vrabel grew quite attached to his counsel like a friend always chatting.
He'd leave, be a good DC, and come back.

He was on some competition committee fact finding polling aspect and at some owners meeting he strongly disagreed a Vrabel. They remained good friends and there was something significant and impressive with how he held himself then.

He was called by so many teams so many times that it's widely assumed LaFleur and Arthur were hired with his blessing- among others.

Pats history
Strong record as DC. One of the points radio hosts make is he had been part of turning franchises around and that should be a big point in who they hire.

It's very possible Schwartz is hired and not a commonly discussed candidate. His closeness to people in the organization and how he keeps things close to the best since Detroit...I think while he's discussed already, it's possible we don't have the interview discussions about him in the news and he's just hired. Definitely keep a concept open he's sorta lurking

Other teams radio stations have hosts asking why Borgonzi would be safe.
Many wonder if they'll blow up the triumvirate that's 5-6 people.
Titans radio has Borgonzi safe and allowed to build his team and hire his coach.

My opinion- what have you done to make the team better? Ask that and follow that answer at year's end

The Titans are open for business on every player but QB Cam Ward and DT Jeffery Simmons

DC Denard Wilson was very upset and seen meeting with ownership, GM, and Pres.

Absolutely no details but maybe we'll hear.
His defense was awful but awful trades and injuries and Callahan's prior involvement for two weeks maybe....idk maybe he blew up? Maybe he begged for better players? Could be anything

Problematic presser today.

As I've said many times, the Titans have a wealth of 20+ year reporters that have seen it all.

McCoy was very standoffish and gave so little details on anything.
Last week, he made foolish injury statements which he did not end up doing so it turned out fine.

He will NOT be the next head coach if he continues this.
Turning a team around, bad season ,selling tickets to new stadium...he's gotta meet the coach minimum for sharing details but probably even exceed to keep fan interest.

Maybe this will be like "we won't share injury updates til Sunday" and it's just what an ol ball coach thinks he can incorrectly change and someone will remind him.

We'll see.
Reporters have almost no power- this is the teenie but they have

Eddie George wondered if they let Callahan go too soon and said he thinks the recent moves have set the franchise back ten years.

Recent I suppose can be interpreted however. From Ran to Vrabel to Callahan to Borgonzi- everyone cleaned house 60% and it's really not an original pov

I’m told that representatives for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian have let NFL decision makers know that he would be interested in potential head coaching openings, including the Titans’.

there are reports out there that contradict this but unless he were fired he'd be crazy to leave that kind of money and I highly doubt we'd be willing to pay that much.

This was really the only chance we had at winning games this year.
2nd in yards allowed last year.
No one goes five starters deep. They were also relatively cheap.
It's maddening. On a barren roster, to give up something done right, some advantage, is absolutely stupid roster management.

This would be my straw if I was the owner. The six umvirate and GM would all be gone

Lots and lots of trade rumors
Zero additions rumored

This could have been done in January or April

Lost time, lost a ton of value with these deadline deals

I obviously don't want the six umvirate to remain and already strongly question the GM but...

If there's some good youth and a decent line with youth, Ward and Big Jeff, plus a ton of cap $ and opening to add your own coach...that seems quite appealing for a new GM

Firing Borgonzi and six-umvirate maybe next year is yet another clean up my mess routine.

I wonder if the plan is to replace both

Mike McCoy said next week will be a big week toward seeing if Kalel Mullings can return after the bye.

Forgot to mention Drew Moss. Guard that initially made Broncos 53 and Titans were awarded off waivers.
Blake Hance went to IR
Hance is who I would have guessed replaced Zeitler if he's traded.

GM interview yesterday was super predictable.
Didn't get offers that they felt were good enough compensation.
Praised the rookies in a weird way like look at me- why single me out for any other reason- and said how they're all playing.

Threw Brownlee under the bus as not a culture fit as if he's reading from a GM script. Not true and we have a zillion player quotes and coaches quotes that say different. Some coach quotes from just days before.
His agent or representative said he will be in touch on X.
Maybe we need this. Is that libel? It would cost Brownlee $ maybe.

Biggest absence of coverage I've ever seen in my life. Titans talk was so minimal during the bye with even Titans show discussing other topics.
With the wins this weekend, the Titans seem well set for the first pick yet again.

The most common predictions are a trade down with the Jets who take a QB and McCarthy as HC.

McCarthy is someone who has discussed "buying the groceries" before. I don't feel any excitement at the suggestion but it's interesting to hear others already not liking Borgonzi.

I'm sticking with other teams fans being more common in the stadium, Nashville businesses thriving with travelers, and ticket prices insanely low with some under $10. A surprise big change is always very possible when the owner's pockets aren't getting lined. Maybe 10% chance Borgonzi is gone now, maybe more with six umvirate? We'll see how bad it gets. $7 tickets seemed rock bottom so what if it isn't?

Sneed is accused of having observed the commission of a felony under circumstances in which serious bodily injury or death may have resulted and knowingly failing to immediately report the commission of the offense to a law enforcement officer. The charge is punishable by one year in county jail and/or a fine of up to $4,000.

The incident allegedly occurred on Dec. 6, 2024, when Christian Nshimiyimana, who owns an exotic car rental business and was researching vehicles for his company, was sitting inside the Mercedes G-Wagon at a dealership in Carrollton, Texas. Nshimiyimana alleges Sneed and his personal assistant pulled up to the dealership in a rented Lamborghini Urus and shot at him while he was sitting inside his vehicle.

I'm very confused

Sneed and his accomplice were arrested by the Carrollton Police Department on allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting.

but he was only indicted on failing to report. So I guess that means the PA is the one that fired shots (unless he's taking the rap)

Either way, if true, these are some bad people.

We never did get any info on if when interviewing Borgonzi, they discussed getting robbed in the Snead trade.
It's (possibly) such an interesting element- let's hire one of the guys that took us to the woodshed

Doug Peterson is a common suggestion for next HC.
He was interesting on Sirius almost talking to Titans probs and needs in a real simple twist. Importance of OL on young QB, options outside, TE, keeping good CBs and Edges so important to a D
I'm guessing that interview which was just discussing today's NFL and some teams will have some weight and he'll get a bump in fan interest

Latest I find confusing
Lambo's are two seaters right? Two in the car plus Sneed isn't possible right? On X some are calling him the getaway driver of a drive by.

Please read and tell me what's what

This seems pretty clear -- 2 people in one car, one in another car.

That's from the ESPN story.
The AP story says Sneed was seen driving the Urus 8 minutes before the shooting.

Doug would be good for a young team but he needs solid coordinators to run the week to week stuff on both sides of the ball. He can manage the team well but without good play callers, he'd get old pretty quick.

I don't know what the charge is. All I've got from TV is accomplice. Failure to report doesn't match "getaway driver" or "driveby driver" in my head.

I know the Titans are quite literally the rule setter trend setter with legal cases as their lawyer is (one of) the league lawyer. Haskins girlfriend had all these marks. On the neck IIRC too. I thought a female owner would be "get off my team" but...nope. He got hurt. Legal process played out. He worked out a deal with the DA or the girl and suddenly it seemed very wise the Titans didn't really respond with a big deal fine or suspension.
For Sneed, I'm sure Bud's son (Kenneth Adams IV) calls former lawyer Roger Goodell and they're probably all smart and careful. As long as Sneed isn't charged with something horrible, they wait the legal process out. He too is injured so he won't be playing which during legal times people call "representing the team."
Clearly I'm not the legal wiz kid and all knowledgeable on this topic.

I'm rooted in TV and I do not understand the charge. "As the getaway driver, we're going to charge you as an accomplice and you face 15 years if you don't tell us who planned it and all the details" that suits my TV brain. Then he's just charged with a lesser failure to report.

I would love to hear from someone far more knowledgeable

Really hoping the titans can create a bidding war between the Rams and browns for the 1. Neither team probably would have to dig much into future picks, the 8 and 29 might not be quite enough but the 3 and 20 certainly would be.
Tyson/Tate/lemon and defensive help with the late 1st would be a nice get.

Latham allowed zero sacks and one pressure in 45 pb snaps.
Amazing
I was giving him flack for the false starts and they were so frustrating but...he did well.

The Titans signed Prosche to the active roster and added Ridley to IR.
Prosche is a well regarded ST player trying to lose that label. He looked good- like a decent veteran this summer in the slot.

They also add McCutcheon who they just cut from the PS after like a week there, so I doubt they're at all high in him.

They also brought back my guy Kristian Wilkerson. Idk how he came out of nowhere to be signed but he's one of my fave depth players ever. Called spiderman at times in college, he's got catchers mitts for hands, and it's a shock when he drops one; usually plucks em out of the air like a guy with big hands might do. Down side is he's slow and he doesn't create separation so the QB has to trust those mitts.
I'd guess he's had about 3-4 good games over 3-4 years. That's it. Pats and Raiders IIRC.

Anywho...he's on the PS and oddly enough he's got experience the others don't.

So Wilkerson wearing 22 in practice only and on the scout team seemed to upset people with tradition and all.

More interesting to me is radio-"how's he doing?' "The guy catches everything. He's nowhere near as fast as Shaheed but whew he had a day."
Yeah that's him. That's what I mentioned above.
Too slow to play, too great hands to sit. Whaddya do? Well ya get bounced around the league

I don't know why today of all days. The stadium isn't finished and the roof has been a discussion lately.
Today is pre stadium day? I simply don't know what it is

BUT

It is some sort of day because the Titans owner is speaking and team pres and Roger Goodell and ....it's a really curious national news league news moment.

The sentiment is as you'd expect. The team stinks and they expect to improve and make the fans proud and all that.

Fans are behaving about as you'd expect upset fans to.

The twist is people forget it's Nashville- a famous city, a world wide destination for country music and incredible food and...it's not we're all idiots but we're simply watching a game and that can be irrelevant to the score n all.

I didn't hear it but some PR guy was on the radio saying how great the draft was in Nashville despite a smaller city to like NY and LA. They've been talking about how frustrated the league must be. They had this "you too can host a draft and maybe a Superbowl" vibe they wanted to build on with other teams and now...oof the Titans are bad.

It doesn't get much easier as a destination for opposing teams fans since warmer climate and the famous city.

Music stars...idk (other than Taylor) what impact they have but I suppose it's good for the league to have stars at games.

All my usual football fun seems something like People magazine on the radio today.

I don't like how a couple Nashville reporters say the same point of view and then suddenly they're all discussing it. I want uniqueness and it really irks me about these guys I greatly appreciate and admire. Watch these same suggestions linger for months.

Anywho-
Romeo Doubs signed as a free agent
Or Alec Pierce
WR in top two rounds.
(Fan sentiment commonly discussed by reporters) Latham moving inside like Skoronski.
McCarthy as coach

******
Whenever we are desperate for a WR the sentiment is to sign the top available (,which requires a big contract) regardless if he's a wonderful player. This never ever ever works. Doubs is fine or good. He's not an OMG add him type player.
Pierce is much of the same.

Geesh we do not need yet another young WR.

I think Ridley was exposed as not a #1 and a big hole in their offense. Assuming he's a June 1st guy, then replace him.
I am completely fine with the rest of the WR corps. Oliver didn't really play so y'all missed his rise this summer. Oliver, Dike, and Elic are a fine 2-4. They have more than enough slot special teams guys so they can keep 5,6,7 with them competing with whoever is a later pick they love or some UDFA. 10000 holes in the roster- depth WR is not one of them.

Chig has caused a fair number of sacks which coincides with their decision to not keep a blocking TE also. Ward's propensity to throw last second has caused a ton and OMG has it inflated the pressure stats. After the annual nuisance of a few weeks for the new OL to gel, I haven't been all that concerned. I don't care that statistically it's similar to the worst years. It probably won't wind up that way and it surely doesn't look at all like that watching the game. We had QBs sacked in under 2 seconds and now it's like seven seconds. That's an enormous difference. Coach the young guys up and you've gotta be kidding me if you want to draft another tackle yet again.

I mentioned McCarthy earlier. Whatever but all in all I don't like how GB and DAL fans don't like him.

On National talk, the word around the league is that the Titans well regarded ST coach Bones Fassel is widely assumed to return. He's coached for and with so many that he'll be an easy guy for the new HC to keep.

Borgonzi's decimation of the CB room has finally gotten attention.

"Lack of direction" is a phrase used a few times. Borgonzi and the six umvirate absolutely have to (idk how) change the perception by the end of the season. So far my prediction looks strong. They better get on that.

Holz is always OMG complimentary like a real bit much.

That said Prosche did snag a bullet and totally change direction and dive to catch an errant pass. Two diagrammed perfect clear outs were credited to him too and it was said the others haven't really committed this year and ya have to to clear out. I noticed some blocks by the veteran as well.
So while X has gotten the love and did well, Prosche did too.

He and X don't have the bodies. You're not starting X and Prosche out wide or using those two often when going two TE.

I don't think much changes when Elic returns. When they do play, I think we might be watching X and Prosche battling already for the 5th 6th spot next year. Never forget Prosche is 1000 times better on ST so the rest of the year Restrepo needs to get rolling at WR

One of the draft tracker guys on X pointed out the Titans have been to Penn State games three times already.

Will Boling was very stupid and shared some info about Arden Key giving a speech on the plane ride back.
That's a private vent and relax time and this is way against unstated policy and ethics of being a reporter.
Not surprisingly PK was the one to point it out. No one cared for a day til PK caused a stir.

He's no longer allowed on the team plane.
He made a public apology.
I heard zero calls to the station all upset with him.

I did hear- which is my point of view- what's the big deal?
Unwritten rule- ok I get that.

The topic though- the gist of Cam's post game presser was a win is a win but we've gotta play better.
Arden Key got up on the plane and said enjoy every win, they're not easy in this league.
Monday in the locker room reporters asked a zillion players and they said they pretty much agree with both.
It was nothing at this point.

Now Boling may never work for a team, will have access questioned forever, and I am not happy with PK who I've known for more than 30 years.

Florio's ran an article and the opening line was something like there hasn't been much interesting about the Titans this year...

Otherwise, national media doesn't seem to care. They did quite briefly but it blew over quick.

New coach gonna be hired maybe new GM and front office- this is exactly what NOT to do before then.
Mularkey was the most open coach ever and he'd lie sometimes and I was annoying people by saying I can tell he's lying. Vrabel was aww skip that and ripped away some privilege and didn't share anywhere near as much.
(In there were also some really cool **** Lebeau stories that we probably never would have heard) Callahan didn't give up much info BUT he would sit down and give 1-3 hour interviews and that was just incredible as far as access and following a team n all.

The Titans have arguably the best reporters in the business maybe the best people that are reporters. There's 4-5 that have done it since before day one. How lucky are we that they were literally there the whole time? There isn't a better person or reporter than Jim Wyatt and I'd stand on that if I had to but he's in the hall of fame already.

There's a not new but not too experienced group that has really grown and become real up n comers. Y'all would have felt identical to me with their dopey flaming articles years ago and their well researched well cited articles now. The shows are same great progress.

I hope this continues to be blown off. I hope all great things for the Titans press with the new staff when they come

Too many people still want cuts for next year and the roster is too barren.
I think there is some likelihood and it's worrisome.
The roster has been gutted too much and that 90 can't look like a UFL team with some NFL players visiting.

I don't think the annual 'losing so let's play young backups the last four games" is or can happen.
Maybe Spears but I think that ship sailed.
I could see more Mullings.
DMR made some great blocks and got a token catch like they give a FB when he does well. I think that might be it. I suppose he could.

There's a couple backup linemen.

James Williams has more than earned the chance since camp. I'd very much like him to start the last few next to Gray.

Restrepo has earned it if he's healthy and afaik that's still the plan.

Prosche is being sprinkled in and earned that. I doubt there's more.

I would give their backup QB some snaps. He came here and has been a good boy soldier despite a lot of junk happening around him and not a bad word said. Give him the final week or the final half at least.

I just don't see much opportunity since the roster is so barren
