**Titans at Bears** (-4, 44.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

The Caleb Williams era begins in Chicago.
Will we be talking about his many Super Bowl and MVP seasons a years from now?
Or will he be just the next Bears quarterback to not throw for 4,000 yards?
He and The Bears looked great in the preseason against the J.V. teams, google that one kids.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in the opener, but be careful not to sleep on The Titans....

Da Bearse- 27
Da Titans- 23

Predicting Bears nation dismaying on Monday. TEN with new offense & new defense. Nothing on tape. Tough sledding for the rookie.

I'll say Titans and the under. This feels like a game decided by a FG.

I think Levis spends a lot of time choosing between checking down, and running from Montez Sweat. Should be some running success, but which RB is anyone's guess.

I think the Bears will have a good amount of success rushing and hitting PA off of it. Probably an ideal setup for DJ Moore to hit some bigger plays, and a nice matchup for Swift. I think Caleb gets kept pretty clean, and while I don't expect big things fantasy wise, I think he'll look the part.

Win or lose, the only real thing that will be dismaying will be more of the same (critical fumbles, lack of vision, and piss poor playcalling). In fairness, both FIelds and Getsy are gone, so I would expect 3/3 of those are minimized.

We haven't seen the Titans new defense, even in preseason. They have top corners now and then one of the best group of DBs in football.
"Chicago shouldn't pass" (notice quotes, expression)

Their DL has Big Jeff, a beast, and Tvondre Sweat, a new beast, and then...and then....no and then, no and then.
"Chicago should account for them and run all day"

How will the new LBers do and factor in here since obviously above doesn't at all account for them.
The LB corps was unimpressive and has really gained a lot of steam this summer. Besides the obvious gift of a player, they have two rookies that were wow this summer. Four times! Harrell made a mistake in practice and then followed with two sacks. Not just I got this coach, but two sacks. He's been shockingly good many days. Haven't been able to figure out why not some days but...gaudy stats so many days of camp. James Williams is a converted safety to LB and was to be a project but instead he's everywhere and shedding blocks and catching their speedy backs and my reporter friends googled his 40 time soooo many times. He's fifth on the ILB depth chart but yet expected to play so no clue how much.

In today's game- do you need four special DL or is two and OLBs fine since the nickel is played so much? Titans GM is going to be a genius or fool for this roster building tactic and it's sure to be discussed.

On Sirius today- I expected the Titans to be a bottom three defense and they're more like top three. I'm not putting them top three but wow, I missed some of this and Dennard Wilson is their DC? They're going to surprise some people. They got me."

Lot of excitement and upside for the Bears this season but rookie QBs are prone to mistakes but I think the Bears have too many weapons and the defense will play well at home.

Titans OL is shiny new franchise tackle, last year's shiny new, key free agent at center and then two guys that supposedly Daddy Callahan has coached up. Will they allow 10000 sacks or not? If I were the Bears I would be all over this side.

Chig plays the F role(more FB and slot) while Whyle plays the starting TE/Y role. They're interchangeable but Chig's blocking next to a questionable right side of OL led to this change. Whyle is Levis' BFF and he looks for him in panic mode and ...idk if that matters.

Hopkins historically doesn't play that well when injured. I know I know but when ya have expectations for a stud you notice the obvious.

Ridley has been the hardest worker and praised over n over for practice habits. He and Levis are phenomenal when in the same page and oooof when not and that's been a story all summer.

Burks has had his usual great off-season and usually he fizzles and we call him a bust. Will he get it together this year?

Boyd's been Boyd. I think we'll find he's the calm down guy for Levis.

Jahquan Jackson is a speedy return man they're expected to sub in for reverses and gimmicky stuff. This is always overstated and winds up being a play or two but... we'll see see.

My FF super way down last pick sleeper Julius Chestnut has had a nice summer and he's got some Henry light to him. He's the tough runner (the opposite of the other backs) and has a knack for knocking people down and busting a run. Does he play more than a snap or two? Is he the third and one and goal line runner?

Callahan has said the Titans have two starters in Spears and Pollard. He's also said he'll go with the hot hand and he brushed off the $ Pollard got and restated he'll go with the hot hand. He even explained guys don't stay hot for a whole game or even a half. Sooo we'll have to see this hot hand stuff.

Callahan has been the most open and honest coach ever. He has sat for long interviews (one even three hours!) and he just says how things are. He doesn't shine and just says what he thinks and it has been so refreshing. He said they're not done retooling and all certain who will do what when. He explained obviously they know some things having gone all through camp but they're very open to altering things every week and even changing starters. He said ask me after week four. Host asked if he had issues with teams not playing starters in preseason and he said no not at all but they need to form decisions based on how they do versus starters so he wants those following the team to be aware changes could happen

I generally agree but "do well throwing at Awuzie and Snead" is a bit much to ask of a first game.
It's not like he can avoid it so I find this very interesting.
Keenan is always questionable and just like with Herbert there's this "he could really benefit from having him around this week" that just sort of followed him to Chicago

Everything sits w the OC and play calling. This is an engine that cannot come out of the gates w a questionable game plan. I think the game will start slow then ramp up. Keenan will probably be a distraction w DJ, Kmet, Swift and Herbert filling in the stat sheet. This is probably the first time the Bears have opened the season w no big question marks on the OL. Both teams are truly different rosters. Should be a fun game. Here’s to no injuries

I see a close game here. 27-24 Bears.

Bears offense upgrades have been well documented. The WR room is the best it's ever been. DJM will get his numbers. Keenan Allen is the ultimate safety valve in the slot. Odunze will have his ups and downs, but I see him fitting in that field stretcher role as a rookie. The real story, however, is the upgrade in the running game. Swift is a dangerous weapon as a runner and receiver. He's backed up by Herbert, a solid all around guy himself, and Rochon who's more of a bulldozer. Velus Jones Jr moved from WR to RB and seemed to excel in preseason. I expect he'll be used more in special teams and special sets. The OL remains the achilles heel of this team. If they can gel, this offense has the potential to be high powered. As for the rookie, I expect Caleb to have typical rookie ups and downs. I expect him to near 4000 yards passing and 22TDs with 12INTs.

The defense played much better toward the end of the season last year and I expect them to continue an upward progress. The addition of Montez Sweat really energizes the pass rush and the rookie Austin Booker looked exceptional in the preseason. IDL is still a problem. They desperately needed a big 3 technique in the draft or free agency and didn't get one. The linebackers are solid, if not spectacular and the secondary is the shining star. TBD how well this unit gels, but I expect them to be a good bit better than 2023.

This is new territory for the Bears. The team culture appears, by all accounts, to be non-toxic. Poles isn't perfect, but he's done a solid job putting this team in a position to win now and in the future. Eberflus looks like a changed man. He appears more comfortable in-game and during practice. Waldron is the wildcard. He can't possibly be any worse than Getsy, but the team needs a great offensive mind to take things to the next level. TBD, but all signs point up.

As always I appreciate MoP for starting the game threads. THey are a welcome Sunday tradition for me. Also shout out to Bri who always brings a ton of great insights regarding the Titans. Thank you both!

Jackson looked nervous on the return and then Levis looked nervous.

It's fine, just move on and get comfy

Burks was in on second snap and then I didn't notice Hopkins on third so maybe just getting Nuk the start?
Gotta see how much he plays

Chig playing in line TE (not the plan) and two of three runs he hit no one.

He's wrecking any chance they gave him to get that job back.

Right side didn't do squat and it's against Walker who was a Titan so they should have familiarity.

Two big PR by the Bears cancelling out that the Titans have the best punter

Blasingame looks thin. Different shoulder pads or??? He was a good sized FB and looks svelte

Homer and Velus Jones in on fourth down. Preseason look.

Muffed catch of shotgun, Williams didn't panic and got Keenan Allen for short gain first down.

Garbage play by Bears WR and Titans CB smacking each other well down the field; both wrong, call on Titans is a gift.

Williams with a big loss sack should have thrown it away. Gift given back 19 yards loss.

2nd and 29 timeout called

Hooker smacks Odunze and a nothing run after.

Caleb really cost them. Punting from 45 and then a penalty.

Both teams looking like last year's garbage and need to relax and recognize they're better and get comfy.

Vannett came in, veteran presence, bumps on route and makes the catch.
Boyd, veteran, nails a block.

Suddenly the Titans look comfy and moving the ball well

Idk Bears calming veterans but they need to do something similar

Interesting to see the difference between 2 talented QBs. One a rookie and one 2nd year. Nerves getting to Caleb right now and the OL isn't doing him any favors.

Pollard hopped and lost his footing, he was upset he just missed a long run.
Followed that with a 25+ yard TD run

Latham and Skoronski had a great drive. It's so nice to finally see top ten pick linemen do well

It's about his turn to get comfy.

Levis has only thrown little slants and screens but looks himself now.
The Bears probably do that(common) this drive.

I'm looking forward to the time they're both comfy and using the whole playbook

Why is that guy returning anything for the Bears now? They said he had muffed punts last year, and now this. You can't win with a clown like that fumbling returns.

I like Levis doing that. Sack or not. I can see him thinking and refusing to make a bad decision.
Next year I want it thrown away but very OK with it now

In fairness, he had a great camp and preseason with no issues. Guess it doesn't translate to real games, though.

78 straight FGs inside the 40...that's why the Packers kicker had no chance beating him out

Caleb rolled and threw a tough high bullet to Moore but he caught it.
Allen with another 3-4 yard catch
Missed a deep shot but it was covered well and maybe not completed anyway.

He looked significantly more comfortable.
Maybe we've got a ballgame now

"the rookie Brownlee" started all summer for the Titans as their starters sat. I would definitely throw at him relative to the others but the kid is a player. Not sure that'll work so easily

I'm not noticing Hopkins much
Very hard to tell since the camera isn't on outside all the time for TV

I don't like all these shots of Caleb sitting by himself. Doesn't have team vibe. Go sit with the rook!

Latham at WR, sorta, was clever but Bears not reacting is dopey. It couldn't have been more predictable where they were going with it
