Titans IDPs (1 Viewer)

Any thoughts/news on Kevin Winston?
Supposedly he's a high round safety that they were lucky fell to them

He's a backup or third safety. Mike Brown filled in pretty well last year.

Hooker is a free agent in 2026 and makes about 11 mil.
I think every good player that's a free agent in 2026 has some likelihood to be traded. New GM, new QB, young team etc.

Not to mention that Quandre Diggs has said he is available for a return. I think he's Brownlee's or Baker's cousin.

If Winston does well in camp he'll be a backup and the future. If he rocks, Hooker will go on the trade block. This is a team that would be pleased to be 8-8 after the worst record.

His predraft stuff is quite complimentary. He had a slight ACL tear that made people doubt him. He's a big boy too. 6-2? 6-3? and that always catches my eye with DBs.

Easton is claiming the Titans are expected to open camp with Snead on PUP but other reporters question it. Confirmed by TD

Nonstarter to know: Cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. A journeyman on his third NFL team, Baker was a shocking No. 1 in coverage DVOA last season among qualifying cornerbacks. But his numbers were strange across the board. He had an average yards-per-target figure, and gave up a high number of YAC when he allowed a reception.

During opening oresser-
Snead on PUP but just the knee everything else is fine. Working with medical staff, great communication from him, talk every day.

Wouldn't comment on his personal situation and if suspension looming

Winston has been great. He's been there almost every day this summer when others went home- watching film and working out. They're excited to see how he'll do and excited about how committed he is

Callahan said they'll monitor Winston because he's coming back from an injury but he didn't seem concerned.
He said mentally he's incredibly sharp.

Discussing Carter retiring, he just rattled off names of edges. Eventually he said Femi and Harrell may get a few more snaps

A good defensive day- still shorts.
Barton had one INT and then another on the last play chuck to DMR.

Here's Wyatt's play of the day-
Rookie safety Kevin Winston Jr. has only practiced twice with the team since being drafted third overall, but man, I've already been impressed by him. Winston, sidelined during the offseason while recovering from a torn ACL, took the ball away from tight end Josh Whyle for what I'm ruling an interception. Sure, it could be ruled a catch/fumble, since Whyle initially had possession of the Brandon Allen pass. There's no disputing Winston ripped it away for a turnover before the two went to the ground. It was an eye-catching moment.

Covering a TE is very interesting for IDP. Is Winston in the mix for a potential slot/TE coverage player regularly? Heir apparent to Hooker at SS? Any potential to unseat him this year?

I mentioned him above like last week. Please scroll up 🙏

Still shorts. It's so early for him. Second day.

In short, yeah I think if he rocks Hooker is traded. It's very premature.

Predraft writeups, he's essentially a steal. You probably should get him for IDP before his value goes up. Read and judge for yourself but all FF is the same in that if you can get someone with rave reviews late in a draft, you take him. Whats his ADP that determines the risk? I bet he's a great value now

@TDavenport_NFL
#Titans LB James Williams has improved "leaps and bounds" according to Brian Callahan. He noted how Williams is continuing to make the conversion from safety to LB where the action and viewpoints are different. Williams is in a competition with Cedric Gray, Otis Reese IV for ILB

.
@jwyattsports
Callahan: I'm really pleased with where ILB James Williams is in the competition. We'll find out a lot more when the pads come on

@SteveLayman
Callahan says Jeffery Simmons was clocked at 18.2 MPH running down the ball yesterday, impressive for a 300 lb man. He gained some speed by shedding 20 lbs this offseason, but Callahan believes he still has the same strength and power

Coburn was released for Jihad Hall who probably won't make the team.

I long believe ya don't cut fine decent DL unless you absolutely must and he was pretty solid at holding his own. With Sweat and Simmons that's really all they're looking for next to them.

The Raiders picked him right up which is another sign they shouldn't have cut him.

He was with the GM in KC so idk if there's some "history" but it seems like a minor bad move

Callahan said Femi is beyond where they expected to be right now and he's real pleased.

He is anxious to see the battle of the young depth CBs.

Winston has a would be stuff and another big play today.

Williams had an INT

A good amount of people noticed the defense flying around the field. There weren't stoppages for sacks (touched) and sorta broken plays after led for a nice day for the offense and DBs annoyed. Anyways Williams and Winston were who everyone is mentioning were everywhere.

Only DMR is listed as having catches. The TEs weren't productive running routes and then stayed in because the OL played badly. That's probably a credit to those two.

Last day in shorts but three days in and Winston seems legit

@Bri

Any word on this Non-Football Injury list thing for James WIlliams?
Idk what ya mean here.
He had an interception and looked good yesterday.
I haven't heard anything like this and I don't see it on any Titans reporters TL.

Is it a common name oops? Am I missing something?

Callahan praised James Williams again in his presser today. Complimenting his recognition and saying how it allows him to play faster can really see how he developed

Femi got put in the dirt a few times.
He was owned by Latham and then by Moore and back again to Latham.
Day one of pads was a welcome to the NFL day for him.

Harrell had himself a day and he beat actual NFL starters in this camp so that's good progress for him.

Joseph Day had a couple stuffs. Simmons usual. Almost nothing on Sweat.

By many accounts they threw the book at Ward today and he struggled mightily so a lot of good DB play was really gifts to them and not much to gauge. I suppose they have a plan for the rookie QB and this was on purpose.

Femi won some one on ones today, lost some and also in the dirt by Latham.
"Very active today" and "he's getting after it" tweets so...keep learning rookie, keep learning.

Longtime reporter Jim Wyatt said Winston looks great and could be their top safety for years to come. Wyatt is a legend that has seen it all and is very even keel. He does not say stuff like that. That is an enormous compliment.

Got cursey mute from a video highlight that that curse guy is everywhere.

I can rant long and hard about when everyone supposedly thinks someone is a steal so why didn't they draft him but...whatever, so far Winston looks like it. Other GMs can kick themselves for their decision I guess

Still very little on Sweat.
Simmons I think was on light duty today. A lot of tweets about low reps.

Hooker burned a couple times. Woods on one made a good play on another.
Brownlee had a shut down day.
Baker was toast on a couple deep ones. He got dinged up the day before but returned as expected.

Williams seems a lock to start already. People talk like it's already happened.

Key has done predictably well sorry haven't mentioned him. He's been as you'd expect.

Harrell didn't do anything tweet worthy I guess today. While Femi learns, he's still got a window

Wyatt has Femi with a batted pass and a would be strip sack today. Others didn't. I don't doubt Wyatt just explaining why I didn't mention it

Lockett is doing an interview circuit of sorts today.
He had a lot of praise for Winston and Williams.
He has been so impressed by the proper technique high standards that Denard holds the CBs too.
He said teams will pickup a Chris Harris CB just because he's a Chris Harris CB. Denard and them seem to have continued on. He wasn't there last year to know of a difference but they are coached RIGHT and believe him he notices.

Denard Wilson said they've been throwing the book at Femi and he's handling it well. Not a typical rookie and they're pleased

Frank Bush wouldn't give James the starting ILB spot all wrapped up yet. He complimented Gray and said a few times that it's not decided.

He spoke of them but none of these were Williams issues so we know he means Gray. He said they've been more mature and are doing the work they've been wanting them to. A little rant about studying on their own and not just what the coaches show them and they are really starting to come on. Again, I strongly think this is Gray got it together and not about Williams

Bri, many thanks for your Titans coverage. It is in depth and highly valuable.

Now, if we could only have someone like you on the forum to cover EVERY NFL team. Each in their hometown, etc. Sort of like the ESPN team insiders. Except the IDP forum vets would provide much better analysis. Massraider, as an example, is always on the money on the Raiders. I'd volunteer for the Panthers, living in Charlotte. But I can't stand them and pay little to no attention to them. :p

Thanks again

Sweat has some abdominal issues that he's been sitting out. Every one, like literally, says it's nothing and they've been churning the end of the roster for DTs and doing a lot of subbing at practice so it might be a Belichick "injury" and just no one can say it. They added a UFL scrapper I like but few added in August make the team.

There's been a lot of praise for the svelte Jeffrey Simmons. He is playing all four spots in camp but let's see them stop with the DT churn and calling Femi aside before we expect that.

Harrell continues to improve. Now it's normal and nothing lofty- no steal of the draft talk or a menace or anything dramatic just good steady improvement.

Femi is a good learner. Ward is getting all the praise for his learning curve but a good amount are saying "Femi has also been...." There isn't a care in the world if he messes up because he's responding great right after. Bucs intrasquad coming up and I wouldn't be surprised if he has some monkey wrenches thrown at him. Idk what but they seem to be testing and teaching. The Falcons are the next week and they probably shift to expecting results around then.

One national reporter reported that the Titans were looking for DL help (after the fact, they have added plenty) and CB help. Their secondary coach raved about them recently so unless it's wanting an alpha to replace Snead in some cosmic weird trade I don't buy it.

Jermari Harris is starting to fade while Marcus Harris does well. Maybe they don't keep two Harris-es. Jermari is just (only a few videos at all) wrongly going for the ball and missing. He's right there and just hero ball the ending. I don't think that's a concern. Ya coach that stuff.

Orj seems to be ahead of Reese.
Gbenda is a beastly UDFA linebacker that got a lot of attention in the spring and he's done little since. He needs to be beastly with the pads on. That bod- a few big hits in preseason will catapult him back into some depth spotlight but he's got a step it up or he's toast. Not coincidentally on two Tyjae Spears runs you can see him take an angle and put his head down and Spears just hits the Y button on his controller and speeds right past. Adjusting to speed is fine if they graze the back or somesuch but to be toasted is just oof not close. They really like him so this is a bit of an odd or uncomfortable point right now. Many had his violence coming in in short yardage downs in the spring but he doesn't look like he's making the team right now.

Brownlee is having a good good camp. Still sort of on track to be the next star CB. He supposedly had a bad day and the highlights of him allowing catches show him also getting his hand on the ball, tipping it, and other times smacking it. I couldn't be less concerned. I'm so grateful to have a CB that's always right there and always battling. I think I said that twice now but...seriously way bigger worries than that stuff

("You be the judge" Bob Barker voice)

The Titans added two safeties. One guy idk and Quandre Diggs.

Remember new GM and Hooker is expensive and I said if Winston stands out....this could be a prelude to a trade

A lot of welcome back happiness for Diggs today. I knew he was liked but it was a lot and wow.
Harrell had an INT again and "he's just seeing if this year" was the comment

Big Jeff will be moving around this year. Callahan said Sebastian has had a great camp and they feel moving Jeff can put him in some favorable matchups and do a good job for them.

Winston won't play neither will Sweat. Zero concern just being careful and smart.

He seemed sick of being asked about Snead and just a dismissive when the medical staff clears him I'll let ya know. He said he was very impressed with the corners against the Bucs and heard a lot of good feedback from their staff. We're in a very good place in the secondary. I feel real good about that group

I didn't find anything all that interesting about the defense this week one of preseason.
They were good and gotta clean up some things but very typical week one of preseason.

Femi is tough AND a bit of a freak athlete. He battled and fought for about 5 tackles. Idk how they were scored but he earned those. I want to see him get some experience and get some easy plays because he does have all this athleticism. Whenever I was watching he was in the middle of it.

Williams had an oh yeah you are fast type reminder play.

I was really impressed with the Bucs depth LB. I went to Ourlads a few times looking them up. I think he had an INT and a sack. He's everywhere and has a nice pop to his tackles. He must hit hard, it's oddly noticeable. He's buried but y'all should look for highlights. He might be worthy of the last spot on your deep roster

Callahan had a zoom call
Wyatt writes how Sweat had his tonsils removed.
Callahan still unsure if Winston will work in Falcons joint practices.
He rocked during five practices in six days and has now sat for six days. Concern is starting to build. Tell us what's going on with him

Winstons knee swelled up
Common post ACL but ya gotta manage it and the young buck probably needs to communicate with the medical staff better

Davion Ross and his 92.3 PFF grade makes him....no longer the last CB.

He had a great 17 play end of game performance against fifth stringers? Idk how to word it but...

He worked out at gyms in Nashville asking if Titans worked out there and ...he's been a nice underdog story.

Zero catches, FF, FR, three assists and an arguable PD.

Good luck to him. I mean...good luck.

He's a fun rabbit hole if ya want to google. Former WR converted and then would return a few INTs for TDs.

Minor but with two guys named Harris at CB the Titans allowed Ross to change his number last week.
They're sometimes on the same unit too.
That's very confusing and I think wrong to do at this point.
I've zoomed in and been like so is that Harris or Ross? I gotta get their typical pic on Google and sometimes idk because I just can't make it out with the helmet.
Harris-es are outside Ross is inside.

There's a bunch of incorrect tweets. Not that it matters that much it's just oddly unprofessional imo

Gbenda was waived.
Big mean style old school LB looking UDFA didn't make it thru camp. He was a fave longshot after the draft and in spring.

Sometimes they're UDFAs for a reason.
I bet he gets picked up.
Maybe a UFL career, but first some team will want that vibe he brings

Bad day for the Titans all around against Falcons in practice
Even when the D stood up and made plays, they eventually caved.
Gray made some good plays on Bijan, Brownlee on London, but it doesn't matter if they break free soon after.

Tomorrow is a big deal. It always is after a bad practice.
Fridays game isn't likely to have the starters in long but there is some possibility Ward and Penix need work so they surprise us and play a half. I'm hopeful. It would be so nice to see. This opening scripted play stuff isn't for me
