Titans Wide Receivers 2025 (1 Viewer)

VERY fair point on the radio about Levis' injury hurting Restrepo.
The switch to having Cam primarily throwing most of practice has left the backup QBs with only 12 and 8 throws and that's while the coaches are on the sidelines discussing things with the top group.
He has to get up the depth chart fast.
That's a terrible spot to get noticed and get reps

It doesn’t matter a lot. Talent finds the field.

Brian Callahan said Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor have done a really good job of minimizing mistakes and knowing what to do early on. Eager to see them when the pads go

Back to back bombs to Ridley then Oliver.
Oliver made a nice sideline catch.

No question he's starting ATM if there was a depth chart

Per PK, Restrepo started practice with thigh taped and now has an ankle taped.
(Not sitting though)

Sorry Burks but this is predictable

Treylon Burks went for a ball on the sideline (incomplete). Comes off holding his right shoulder and is hurt.

Defenders didn't touch Ward so he kept playing and hit Ridley again deep. Questionable play with no stoppage but we need positivity so woohoo to another great throw

Burks getting hurt sorta took the wind out of sails in previous seasons. It's like a non issue this time. Very different and shows a sad reminder of how he hasn't panned out

Van Jefferson has a few catches. One great catch n go by Lockett.

It seems the story of the day is no protection and the offense is having fun with it. A concern probably but in shorts ...meh who cares

Rookies nullified on special teams gunner role. Welcome to the NFL.
IDC we'll see next practice. It probably had to happen

Went to one radio YouTube feed, meant to go to other...each discussing how Bryce Oliver is locked in now and has to be knocked off.

Two WR sets, Jefferson and Lockett in after was surprising and the rookies seem way behind. They'll run three WR sets but that paints a picture.

Possible Callahan did this on purpose. They're off and then return with pads on.

For real, he really looked good, he made plays...lots of Oliver talk coming to terms with where he's at

"Duke, Restrepo, Spears, Prosche, and J. Jackson all taking turns returning punts"

Elic needs to join or be a gunner. Gotta play ST.

Jackson had two nice returns. Somewhat validates what I said earlier. He's an under the radar threat to these rookies that really should be known. He did -what they want to do- last year.

Fractured collarbone for Burks and they already signed someone like he was on speed dial.

After losing Treylon Burks, the #Titans are signing WR Ramel Keyton.

The 6-foot-3 Keyton spent last season with the Raiders after a stellar preseason. With the Titans off tomorrow, he’ll join the team Monday, per his agent Zac Hiller of LAA.

-Receiver Tyler Lockett was on the receiving end of a beautiful pass thrown by Ward, after he found the perfect spot to get open in the defense.

-Receiver Van Jefferson had a good day, with four catches himself, including several passes he snagged in traffic.

-Chimere Dike, David Martin-Robinson, Julius Chestnut, TJ Sheffield and Burks had two catches each.

****
From the Titans site. No Elic mentioned

I don't think Burks gets on IR. Oh I definitely did think so and his career in TEN was done but frustration has subsided to a clear head now.
They can put him with any other designation than iR ineligible to return and have him back. Docs are saying weeks 1-6 which is a big window but that's because fractured collar bones are known fast healers. It's mildly common that someone beats the expected date with them.

Suppose week six-
It is a big question mark if the three rookies drafted 4th round or later can hack it.
Why not possibly have him to fill in? Again- this is not on the 53 just eligible to return. No roster spot just a "maybe we need ya." It costs them nothing different.

Well it's been highly predictable before pads and after this break it's time to see if the rookies can hack it.
Callahan has spoken a few times since spring publicly so I assume it's even more often privately. Rookies usually struggle against press and they will be throwing the whole playbook at them and moving them around.

(Remember he felt handcuffed with his offense last year by guys only able to do one role. He's adamant about WRs having to have the ability to play all three spots)

Defenses usually win the first few days of camp and we say they've been itching to hit.

One week in Nashville and then the next two are at away sites with joint practices. Those are usually chippy or scrappy too.

That's a pretty tough road to hoe for a rookie WR. Each of the three are supposedly built for this and can handle it. We'll see.
I don't recall play all 3, intellect, and toughness being goals of drafted WRs so it's a new day and we'll see if it works.

Van Jefferson has done well against zone and non noticable against man since day one and that was the knock against him coming in.

His good days sort of have an asterisk next to them. That said, he has played better than I expected and that's a prob for one of the rookies in a numbers type way.

Jackson was written off too early was a theme amongst fans yesterday. "They're fans what do their opinions matter." Ok I get that but a good returner, a speedy water bug that makes big plays on an offense that hugely lacks them...he did a "remember me" show yesterday with his return yardage.
I do not think there is any stature advantage to a 4th over a 6th over a UDFA at this point. Restrepo and Oliver and DMR have proven they're all just young players.
Jackson is probably a fumble or two away from returning to the doghouse. I buy that, totally, but the rookies do not have some clout advantage.

I think it's simply time for them to do better than Jahquan. No extra junk, just do better.

Next will be Van, just do better.

I had them keeping 7 at cut down day Monday and 6 by week one days later. I could see 8 now. It's a game GMs play for a few days and they're not that deep a team to not play it. It's worth a try to hold for a few days and see if ya get a 6th 7th round pick for a guy. 8 seems absurd so I want to go back to 7 but ...they're just not that deep and were the worst team.

First day in pads- Ridley, Lockett,Oliver starting.

First two deep shots were to Ridley then Oliver

Kinda just started team stuff but confirmation Oliver is atop one spot on the depth chart

Dike a couple passes from Ward.
Ayomanor from Boyle. (I thought he was pushing the starters)

Will wait for more details next/later

In one highlighted play, there was a pick by Gabe Jeudy Lally. Ward way underthrew Jahquan and has his hands on his head, smiling, woah look.
Yeah Jahquan can fly and uses that classic fifth gear technique. Ward is going to have to get used to that.
But predictably- there's the guy I said would be monkey wrench to these rookies. First day in pads, noticed by QB1.

We'll see...

I got radio and tweets I'm reading.
It seems like Restrepo was sprinkled in with the ones and then absolutely buried on the depth chart.
Makes me wonder if that's Cam's comfort or for him.

He's predictably doing great against the 50th string defense

Wyatt's writeup doesn't mention Oliver.
*****
Receiver Xavier Restrepo had his most productive day of camp, as he also hauled in four passes. One of them was a catch of 50-plus yards on a ball thrown by Tim Boyle.

-Receiver Tyler Lockett had three catches on Tuesday.

-Ridley also had three catches on the day.

****
He commends Elic for wrestling a ball away from a defender to make a catch

Have missed this thread so far this year but have got Oliver tucked away on two taxi squads from the end of last season when you first mentioned him Bri. Here’s hoping

He dropped one today. Caught a bomb and one over the middle "tough catch."

Still starting, very much challenged though.

He's growing on people. He had some colored gloves on today and told a reporter something like clearly you're not noticing me with a wink and a smile.

Radio host did say since the spring it's always deep to Ridley then deep to Oliver and that Oliver can come up with those is impressive.

The light might be coming on for Elic.
In one on ones, he made a couple moves and made a nice catch.
Oliver blew up the CB trying to press him.
Elic's next rep, he pushed the CB down.
I'd bet Oliver's rep reminded the former hockey player.

When the rookies stop playing patty-cake and play the game, it is oh so often a turning point.

Restrepo mostly with second team today. 💪 Climb that ladder UDFA!

Jahquan ran a route and a half, leaving two defenders in his dust, and then dropped one that was "too perfect" from Ward.

I don't see a note that he has a target since and see a lot of Restrepo.

Callahan: There's something about
@XavierRestrepo1
. He has a knack for getting open, and making plays. He's making strides. He's a good football player.
@Titans

I've had Ridley in FF for a long time and couldn't trade him and couldn't trade him until I finally did.
This might be his best camp and he finally found "his QB." It's only about a week in but Ward chucks it before he's there and has total confidence. Ridley, in the past I have barked at for weak effort but not now, he's going and getting it every time.

I want to see these joint practices and continued growth but this might be that "finally" year for him

Oliver is in with the first second and third string today. Handful of plays with each. Idk what that's about.

Bryce Oliver just caught a TD in the back of the end zone. Jumped up and got it, secured through contact with the ground and dropped both feet in bounds. Brandon Allen was the QB.

Calvin Ridley limping and stopping to hold his calf reads to me like a heat dehydration type strain. That's an awfully specific way of walking off.

We'll see.

He wore baby blue chuck Taylor's and told TD he knew he'd notice him 😀

Wyatt article snips-

-Receiver James Proche II had a nice day, leading the team with three catches. Proche was on the receiving end of a Tim Boyle touchdown pass during an unscripted team period during the second half of practice.

Mason Kinsey is having fun again at camp. The relentless receiver outfought a defender for the football in the end zone, and caught another Boyle pass for a score. Kinsey threw the ball into the air, and his offensive teammates went wild, celebrating with him.

-Receiver Bryce Oliver caught a touchdown on a throw from Allen. At this point, I'm going to be surprised if Oliver doesn't make the team. He's a good receiver who can help a great deal on special teams.

I probably shouldn't go any further without at least mentioning Ridley left practice early after holding his right calf during and after a play. After practice, the team said he was being evaluated. The play happened near the end of practice, just a few plays before Ridley would have been done anyway, so …

-Tight end Chig Okonkwo, receiver Calvin Ridley, receiver Elic Ayomanor, tight end Thomas Odukoya, receiver Bryce Oliver and tight end Josh Whyle all had two catches in Wednesday's session

practice.

-Chimere Dike, Bryce Oliver, Xavier Restrepo, James Proche II, and Tyjae Spears worked in the return game.

The last thing those rookies need is Oliver developing into a returner.

Note Jahquan not listed.
Maybe just a swap for a day, probably something like that

Jim is not casual with compliments and very experienced long haul type view point.

See how he writes of Oliver?
On the radio he was saying they still haven't knocked him off and he keeps making plays.

That's the gist of what I've been saying. He's the monkey-est wrench there is in the league right now. The plan is....but this guy keeps making plays.

Plenty of time for the rookies. Jim's only guessing he's a lock to make the team.

As I said earlier- it's a tough road to hoe to expect to thrive in joint practices and they have two this week and next so it's kind of hypocritical- the rookies got time, but they've gotta get after it too

Terry McCormick has a source that confirmed just a cramp for Calvin Ridley- well after practice.

The Titans have a slew of older reporters, award winning guys, don't doubt the older guys. If they say it, it's a lock
