TJ Housh to Seattle (1 Viewer)

Word out there is 4 year, 40 million. TJ is not worth 10 million a year, worst FA signing of the year and it's not even close.

got link off Roto..

Free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh will sign a multi-year deal with the Seahawks, according to the National Football Post.

Seattle was offering at least $2M more than both the Vikings and Bengals. The 'Hawks were also desperate for a durable wideout. Housh was a flanker in Cincinnati and that's Deion Branch's position in Seattle. Branch could now be moved to the slot or cut, as it was rumored he might be in the winter. Mar. 2 - 5:45 pm et

Bump up Ocho Cinco. Top 10 WR next year for sure.

Someone else at cincy (Jerome Simpson, Andre Caldwell, Chris Henry) or even Coles (if aquired by trade) gets a huge fantasy boost as well.

I don't know. I think the DeAngelo Hall contract is still worse than this. But I agree $10mil/year to Housh is ridiculous. I expect his production to go the same direction Deion Branch's did when he signed on with Seattle.

Did the Bengals suddenly acquire a OLine? He has the talent, but anyone using "Ocho Cinco" and "for sure" in the same sentence is kidding themselves.

Housh's fantasy value definetly takes a hit. Not a huge one, but as a fantasy owner I would be bummed. Cincy was the perfect place for him to rack of fantasy points. I expect him to be productive in Seattle, but probabably a 10-15% fantasy point reduction.

Nothing is official yet....lets wait until an official announcment is made before we change our mock drafts.

Guys, this is a bogus post. He hasn't decided yet. Link only worked for a few minutes. C'mon, the National Football Post? You guys are slipping :goodposting:

His schedule should get a lot easier.

They just said it on ESPN which we all know is the epicenter of fact. :goodposting:

2003 CIN 16 90 1355 15.1 82 10 66 0 0 2004 CIN 16 95 1274 13.4 53 9 63 1 0

2005 CIN 16 97 1432 14.8 70 9 74 1 0

2006 CIN 16 87 1369 15.7 74 7 66 1 1

2007 CIN 16 93 1440 15.5 70 8 74 2 1

2008 CIN 13 53 540 10.2 26 4

He has great fantasy stats besides last year. The dude was extremely consistent and averaging 90 receptions, 1400 yards and about 9 TD's. He has phenomenal value this year and will probably regain 2003-2007 form.

Well assuming a final announcement, congrats Seahawks you are getting a great player.

Condolences TJ as I'm not sure that the Squawks can compete in even that division considering their collapse last year :goodposting: Enjoy the money.

The Hawks aren't as bad as everyone thinks....they SHOULD have won 6 games with esentially 1/2 of their starters out. 6WRs on IR, and the starting QB out...Add to that 2 pro bowlers (Kearny and Big Walt) missing large amounts of time....this team is not the struggling team lots of non-fans make it out to be.With Housh in the fold now, the hawks can take OLine at #4, and hope McCoy slides to them in the 2nd round. That would be a perfect draft for me.

15 mill guaranteed. This is a minor deal. Years and total dollars mean nothing. You should already know this.

5 years, 50 million and only $15 million guaranteed money (which is all that really matters). When it's all said and done, it will probably be a 3 year deal worth $24 million. I can't see Housh collecting beyond that. Anway, I'm not crazy about the signing. That said, I'd rather pay Housh $8 million per year than Michael Clayton $5 million per year like the Bucs are doing.

Couple this with the Cards losing Warner, and I like the Seahawks to win the division this year. Give them a fair bounce in the health department and a decent draft and this is a team that could surprise a lot of people, especially with the distractions gone.

Still, it'll mean he stays with the Seahawks for at least 3 years and gets most of that money ($20M-$25M). It won't be until the 4th year that they will be able to save money by cutting him.

They can cut him loose after his second season if need be.

We will have to wait and see how the bonuses are broken down, but 15 mill guaranteed is a minor deal, and Housh seems like such a sage bet to me, that this isn't much of a risk for the Hawks.Chris Canty just got 17.25 mill guaranteed.

Brandon Jones got 5.4 mill guaranteed.

Michael Boley got 11 mill guaranteed.

Michael Clayton got 10.5 mill guaranteed.

Now, I am not saying that this deal is without risk. But calling it the worst FA move by far is absurd. Considering the player, team need, and guaranteed dollars, I think it is closer to the best deal thus far.

Obviously they could cut him anytime but they'd have a $12M cap hit if they cut him next year while he'd only cost $8M to keep.In his 3rd year he'd still be cheaper to keep than cut.

It doesn't say 15 mill SB. Just 15 mill guaranteed.

totally wishing the vikes would have ponied up the cash myself, its right where I thought he would be getting paid, a little more I guess but its not my money.

I like the move. I understand that we have a many areas of need, but I would be happy if we also drafted Crabtree.

I'm just glad the Eagles didn't bite on him. He's a very good WR, I just can see his numbers dive bombing. TJ with CJ>>>>>>TJ with Branch.

Either way I believe the team takes the hit for the full amount if the player is cut or traded.

Probably a good fit. Who was the last real receiver that SEA had? Steve Largeant? I mean Darrell Jackson was OK, but geesh I can't even remember them having a Top 30 receiver in a decade really.

I think the keep branch too. But let him be what he is, a samn good 2/slot receiver, but he's certainly no 1 And I think housh can be that.

The real FF winners from this?

Sidney Rice and Andre Caldwell (unless Coles ends up in CIN)

agreed. d hall is and will be a bust/cancer. Fast as lightning, and about as smart.

While getting Housh is surely a boon to the Seahawks what happens to his value if Hasselbeck is out for any length of time. We know he's got a bad back. Is Seneca Wallace gonna be able to do the job if Hass is out? Wallace started 7 games in Hasselbecks absence. He threw for 1532yds/ 11 tds. Not saying he couldn't get the job done but I think T.J.'s value drops a bit with Wallace under center. Now that they have Housh are they gonna look for a vet QB as well. No doubt T.J. is gonna be the recipient of the majority of targets. His being there probably helps rookie sensation TE John Carlson as well. For Houshmanzadeh's sake I hope Hasselbeck stays healthy. I don't think Hass is gonna be as good as he was a few years back but with a receiver like T.J. and TE Carlson his production should still keep him in the top 15 and if the rest of the receivers can stay off IR they should be ok.
