TNF on Amazon Prime ****Atlanta @ Carolina**** (+2.5, 41.5). (1 Viewer)

Tankathon

1. Houston 1-6-1
2. Carolina 2-7
The Panthers move from 2nd to perhaps 7th or lower with this meaningless win tonight
Tepper is making Jim Irsay very happy
Colts are 3-5-1 and currently in 14th Place, i expect them to rise quickly into the Top and fight their way up to No 2 from there

-Carolina ranks 20th overall on Defense
-Atlanta ranks 30th overall on Defense

-43% of all drives vs Atlanta end up with a score
-38% of all drives vs Carolina end up with a score

-7% of all drives vs Carolina Defense end in a turnover, 5th Worst
-14% of all drives vs Atlanta Defense end in a turnover, 6th Best

-Only 10% of all dropbacks of oppsong QBs end in a QBH/QBKD or Sack vs Atlanta
-Almost 20% of all dropbacks of opposing QBs end in a QBH/QBKD or Sack vs Carolina

-Falcons are 4th worst at YAC on Defense
-Falcons are 32nd in Pass Defense, who is the QB for Carolina this evening?
Sleeper Alert-Terrace Marshall

Carolina is almost as bad on pass defense, coming in ranked 27th
Carolina has the 8th best run defense
Marshall didn't have a great night but he did lead Panthers receivers with 43 yds, might have had the most both trams despite just 1 single catch of 43 yds

The pass rush that I mentioned was the difference in the football game. Atlanta had a hard time slowing down Carolina which gets twice as much pressure on the QB as Atlanta.
Neither team could throw the football.

I mentioned that Carolina was Top 10 in Rush Defense and that slowed down the Atlanta attack since Mariota barely cleared 100 yds passing last night, they couldn't get their ground game firmly established. The Panthers are not giving up on '22 yet, that's good to see because the win last night only sets them further back in the Draft at this point. .

I just don't know how in this day and age of the NFL you don't pass the ball. How can teams get away with 100 yards passing the entire game? I mean, I can see it happening organically during a game every now and then, but to base your entire offensive strategy for every game around NOT throwing the football seems against the best interests of the NFL.

Aren't teams supposed to be putting a quality product on the field? Playing not to lose seems like the worst possible product you can put on the field.

Arthur Smith night was straight up criminal in his use of RB’s last night, CP in particular. A 4 man RB rotation!!! WTF. That just might be the stupidest thing I’ve seen in football in a long time. And I’m saying that with full awareness that I’m speaking about the same man who refuses to use his last 2 high first round pick receivers in any meaningful way. Unreal.
Just posted this in the CP thread but it fits just as well here. What a joke.

I literally fell asleep in the 2nd half last night. Woke up to the post game and saw it was 25-15. Did both teams mis another PAT or both tried for 2?

Either way, this was not one of the more exciting games of the year.

Outside of timing routes and quick passes to the flats, neither Mariota nor Walker can throw downfield. I don't think they can read defenses at all in order to go through progressions. It takes the game back decades when 2 teams with bad qbs play each other. Last night was a snoozer. Wasted WR and TE talent on both sides.

Koo got a PAT blocked and missed one.

He is my kicker and I also skipped the second half and woke up to see that he still only had 3 points...

You want to know how bad last night's game was? I fell asleep for a few seconds when you mentioned the score in your post.

PATs were a struggle due to the weather

I understand what you are saying but there's only room for 1 team to grab the Lombardi
That means there is going to be a lot of flawed teams, maybe as many as 30-31 others that have real flaws and don't win
I'm just offering a different POV, pretty sure by now you know I enjoy most of your posts even if I have a differing opinion
