**TNF on Prime - Broncos 9-5 at Chargers 8-6** (-2.5, 41.5) 8:15 (1 Viewer)

Wait illegal forward pass results in a loss of down and 5 yards back.

Right?

Why would you not take that one vs holding and repeat of second down?

Not that mattered butNix was like 2 yards past the line of scrimmage, would have been a disastrous penalty negating a 1st down

I’m not trying to get into an argument

Nor I. I take things under advisement because I can’t and don’t watch every game. I have Sunday Ticket, but I don’t have NFL+ Premium, so I can’t look at every game in retrospect. Therefore, I miss a whole bunch and rely on others for a more complete knowledge of the league. SP is good for that.

I have redzone so I just watch advertisements.

Anyone else think these "punch-outs" should be flags sometimes. Edwards basically got punched in the side of the head.

Yes. Fred Warner is going to rupture somebody’s spleen or kidney someday with how he goes after the ball. I don’t know how you police it. It always seemed self-policed until Peanut Tillman started really doing it as a signature move.
TJ Watt is a major offender too.

TJ Watt immediately came to mind because he’s so effective with it. It’s when the guys in the secondary are riding guys down the field laying haymakers on their chest where it begins to get ridiculous. And I’ve talked about it on the boards before, especially when Warner plays.

Incredible comeback tonight with many injured pieces on offense for the Chargers
Gutsy performance by Justin Herbert

Down 21-10, outscore the Broncos 24-3 in the 2nd Half
I've watched it and its hard to explain

Feels like Wildcard Playoff game tonight in every way
Very entertaining to watch

One of the best young QB in football.

And all of the FF ecosystem seemingly forgot about that over the course of 1 down year & a good HC hire.

It’s amazing.

Nooooo not all. I was worried about Roman but wasn’t moving Herbert nor backing off of my opinion of him. I’m part of the ecosystem. I’m not an apex predator, but I’m more like plankton or algae. Yet still part of the ecosystem.

Ps - I was generalizing, of course.

I was in many a discussion both here and on Xwitter and it was just all doom & gloom.

Where did FBG rank Herbert in the preseason? Anyone? Anyone? Voodoo economics? Anyone?

Wow. Heck of a Thursday night game.

Herbert is a biospecimen.

I don't think many doubt Herbert's ability as a real NFL QB, but those predicting his FF numbers would suffer have been right. Less than 3000 yards and 16 TDs through 15 games.

This. QB 20ish before tonight

That throw from Herbert to Davis on the go ahead TD in the 4th was unreal. His hips were already open and he just slung it a split second before getting hit and threw it exactly where Davis broke to.

Brilliant throw.

He hasn’t hurt his FF teams from an ADP perspective.

Compared to a Mahomes, for example.

People really complaining about the helmet to helmet? The initial contact was 100% helmet on helmet. Idk, seems odd to complain about it.
It was shoulder to shoulder. The helmets hit too, but the initial contact was fine. Even the rules guy agreed.
technically its very hard to not have helmets collide on a body tackle or a shoulder to shoulder hit. there will nearly always be incidental contact. I think the rule was written to prevent hits that actually target the head. and for me, thats where a penalty should be called. a hit to the shoulder or chest where there is some incidental helmet bumping is to be expected because the helmets to stick out a bit.

I agree with that non call. honestly the only times this penalty should be called is when it looks like someone is deliberately trying to target the head or so careless with his hit that he completely misses the target and ends up hitting the head.

Herbert is absolutely awesome.

but as we all know, there is a difference between a good fantasy QB and a good Actual QB.

Herbert was a good fantasy QB but given the way the team gutted the offense and went to a run first mentality, Herbert has changed his focus. He doesnt need to throw for 5000 yards for the team to be successful.

bad for fantasy, but good for the team.

back when I played, my coach always told me an INT is worth 40 pass yards (sometimes more) and I believe it. if that INT is an incomplete pass instead and forces you to punt on the next play. the other team gets the ball 30-40 yards back. but in the situations where you do not punt on the next play, there are yards on the latter downs that are now forfeit so technically that could be more than 40. and if you are in scoring position it costs points too. - and momentum.

the fact he was down to only 2 INT going into this week is super impressive. sure the yards are down, but the net yards is up if you factor in the loss of the INT's he has historically thrown.

with additional weapons he will eventually get his yardage up and Harbaugh will open up the play book some more. I figured it would be 2 years until herbert is again on the fantasy map for standard leagues. but hes still a solid hold for super flex keeper leagues. Very good player.
