**TNF on Prime - Broncos 9-5 at Chargers 8-6** (-2.5, 41.5) 8:15 (1 Viewer)

Al is actually right. We’ve been treated to utterly insane catches these past few years. The receivers are allowed to play and are better than ever. The pay scale reflects how important they are. The ground game is virtually dead outside of Barkley and Henry and a few select others.

Denver doesn’t seem like a quick strike team, so I’m watching for a drive here. They’re bleeding the clock and trying to run and throw screens.

JIm, it’s not grounding. He can do that.

So much for not pushing the ball downfield. He was wide open. Now I know why they don’t push the ball. Nix can’t throw it.

It looks like the Bengals are gonna make the playoffs.
I feel like the rest of the AFC is rooting against that. Defense is awful, but Burrow and co. can drop 40 on anyone, anytime.
It’s a done deal. The Broncos will lose their last three and the Bengals will win their last three. I’ve seen this played out before. Paytons stupid play calling at the end of the half and Nix missing Mims sealed it.

I’ve watched him all year and your last statement is not true.

Though technically true for that specific throw.

I probably haven’t gotten the chance to watch him quite as much. Jets game, KC game, this game, and another.

I haven’t seen any deep ball prowess, but I’ll defer and watch more of him.

eta* Sounds like people were pretty universally questioning his arm strength, especially before the combine and draft, and some contrarians think he’s answered the critics with combine and this season. Huh. We will see. Because that throw was a duck. And some of the throws they’re presented as counter-evidence don’t travel over forty yards in the air. So color me skeptical.

Feel like the calls have balanced out a lot in the 2nd half.

I think no flag there is the right call. Shouldn't reward QBs for garbage throws.
LOL. So you can commit PI with no penalty if the throw is bad? Doesn't seem to work that way for all teams.
I'm saying that wasn't anywhere near egregious enough of contact to warrant a flag when the throw was so awful. The throw took the players into contact. That's not a flag unless its clear, no-brainer PI, which that wasn't.

I’m not trying to get into an argument. He’s thrown some pretty deep balls this year. Some ugly ones too. And that was one of them.

You aren’t wrong.

Good decision to punt there. Going for it and failing would have been killer, but something I think many coaches would have done.

2:00 at least come off the clock and likely field goal.

So you HAVE to score a touchdown.

At this point you play defense and get a stop and know that you could still tie it with a field goal.

Long story short… I agree.

Amazing the Chargers are as good as they are with no real RB1, no WR2 (Johnston & Palmer are #3-4's) no TE1 and some OL issues. Great defense but Harbough & culture.
Agreed, though I'll add if Johnston shows as much development from year 2 to 3 as he has from year 1 to 2, he'll be a plenty solid WR2.

Well, other than the DB had both of his hands on the receiver and one of them holding the receivers hand down. Pretty obvious PI. Doesn't matter if the throw took the DB into the receiver. You see that called all the time. But not tonight. Not for the Broncos.

But last year they had K.Allen, M.Williams, A.Eckler, Herbert etc. Only additions after the subtractions are Alt & McConkey

Johnston has the hands of one of those Easter Island statues

Justin Herbert is also a special player and one of the toughest SOB’s playing the QB position today.

Like I said a few pages back….wait till he has some real weapons around him (like his first two years) but with this coaching staff and culture.

I think if they have a great draft and off season they can be legit contenders.

Oh my. Welp, that doesn’t help me out but I’m excited for the Chargers and for the Bengals this weekend. Means Chase will at least be playing through the weekend and maybe further into the fantasy playoffs (should some people be lucky enough to make it).

Oh I agree 100%

Anyone else think these "punch-outs" should be flags sometimes. Edwards basically got punched in the side of the head.

Yes. Fred Warner is going to rupture somebody’s spleen or kidney someday with how he goes after the ball. I don’t know how you police it. It always seemed self-policed until Peanut Tillman started really doing it as a signature move.

TJ Watt is a major offender too.
