**TNF on Prime - Steelers at Bengals**(+5.5, 43.5) 8:15 (7 Viewers)

Can we get a projection ROS for the Cincinnati Bengals?
They enter at 2-4, how many games will Flacco help them win?
Steelers, Jets and Bears the next 3 weeks before the Bye
Then it's Steelers again, Ravens twice, Bills, Patriots, they will be hard pressed to win 2 or 3 more games
Coach Taylor on the heat seat?

Division rivals on a short week
Two old qb's will need to get more sleep before this one
Hope they're not too crabby at kick off
Brownies showed some life with their old qb
Steelers have a chance to take firm hold of the division with their old qb
Both qb's asked to play beyond their bed time
Just a feeling...

Old Joe's Team- 29

Old Aaron's Team- 23

Until Tomlin actually wins one of these divisional road games on a Thursday night (and he has lost to some DOGSHIT Browns teams on Thursday night over the years. Brady freakin' Quinn beat him on a Thursday night once upon a time. Jacoby Brissett has also beaten him), I'm not sure how anyone could pick the Steelers to win outright without at least some hesitation.

Steelers do tend to play pretty well in Cincinnati under Mike historically, but there's a non-insignificant amount of data pointing to them underperforming this week. Adding to that, for whatever reason, Mike's/the team's sphincter tightens up reeeeal good in these kinds of games, Grampy Joe pretty much knows were all the bodies are buried with Mike's scheme.

If the Pittsburgh defense continues to be able to generate the pressure they've been getting the past month, Mike should probably break the winless streak in these divisional road games, and will probably generate multiple turnovers. If the Bengals somehow manage to keep the pocket clean for Grampy, this game could be a lot more competitive than most are predicting.

That all said....the Bengals defense is still criminally sucktastic, and might be without their best player (or will likely have at less than his best even if he plays).

Steelers get home 5 or 6 times on Flacco: Steelers 27 Bengals 13 (turnovers thwart the Bengals)

Grampy Joe stays reltaively clean and gets to "Uncle Rico" it for a couple/three quarters: Steelers 23 Bengals 21 (Joe hits a couple big plays early/JPJ commits 8 DPIs vs. Higgins, and Mike's pooper gets tight enough to powderize diamonds as he goes archconservative for 3 quarters. Pittsburgh trails for most of the 2nd half before mounting a comeback, with Boswell winning it for them in the waning moments).

(Yeah...I know. I'm picking them to win outright, but I'm doing it with massive amounts of hesitation)

Are the Steelers for real? I just am not sold on them going far even if the y do make the Playoffs
They're not a bad team but they stand to go 5-1 after tonight

Jets, Pats, Vikings and Browns, only the Patriots and Maye would I call a quality win and I'm not sure how sold I am on the patriots just yet

AFC is up for grabs right now

The Steelers sure didn’t look like they for real coming out of the gate but the team looks like it might be starting to jell.

The defense is healthy and the offensive line is coming off its best game against what is thought to be one of the better defensive units.

That said it’s a short week against a division opponent and anything can happen. Putting pressure on Flacco is paramount cause he has the accuracy and weapons to make you pay.

The Steelers have an opportunity to take a huge lead in the division, I hope they don’t come out flat.

I think the Steelers are a fraudulent 4-1. This is a .500 caliber team that has only a +12 point differential. Basically, this team is no better than last year's team. Having said that, this Bengals team is much worse than last year's team, so this likely isn't the week the Steelers run into too much trouble.

The Bengals are starting 5th round rookie Jalen Rivers at RG, I'm sure he'll do fine against Cam Heyward. Also 2nd year RT (and looking like a bust) Amarius Mims likely sees the majority of TJ Watt. If the Bengals can somehow hold up there (maybe lots of max protect, 3-4 man routes) I do think Joe Flacco can pick apart this secondary given these WRs.

Big boon for the Steelers that it sounds like Trey Hendrickson won't be playing. He's tended to be a big problem for them in the past. The Bengals secondary has quietly been pretty solid of late, DJ Turner and Geno Stone in particular have been playing really well, so I think this isn't the week I'd be thinking Rodgers as a possible Josh Allen fill-in or QB streamer. I think this is a very run heavy game for the Steelers against the Bengals 27th ranked run defense. I think this is a week to get Jaylen Warren in your lineups if you can. The Bengals also struggle against RBs in the pass game, so hopefully Warren gets featured more than Gainwell there this week.

Steelers cover, and the under.

If I remember correctly didn't Flacco play for the Steelers back in 1985? As long as Chase has 200 yards and 2 tds I don't care who wins. If u were guessing:

Steelers 24
Bengals 20

Short week. Division rivals. I expect that to even the playing field for Cincy. Pitt still wins but it's much closer thanks to those keys.

Pitt 19
Cincy 16

Do you feel the Steelers can advance in the Playoffs? They haven't done so for a while, yes?
That's what the Steelers' fans are always complaining about and wanting to move past Tomlin and find a new coach

If they can stay healthy yes I think they could advance in the playoffs, especially if they win the division and have a home game. Would one playoff win appease the people calling for Tomlin's head? Probably not but it sure would be nice.

The issue is that this Steelers team is set up for a "win now" situation. After the season Rodgers is likely gone and they will be drafting for their QB of the future so it could be a mini rebuild coming up for the next season or two.

Worth gambling on Rodgers this week?

I could swear over the years he used to pad his stats in prime time blowout wins over the likes of the Bears. Up by three scores, and throwing for a TD on the 1 yard line type crap.

Super Bowl darling Eagles have been outgained in every game so far and have a negative point differential on the season.

Two teams tonight going in opposite directions... PIT 38, CIN 13

Tomlin has a pretty terrible record on Thursday nights.

This feels trappy tonight.

I tend to agree with this more than disagree.

I watched the entire NE/PIT game and NE did everything in the world they could to hand that game over (which they did). Forget how many pathetic turnovers took place where NE basically handed them the ball.

Is the Steeler secondary any good? Also was watching ESPNBet last night and somebody saying Watt is slipping a tad this year.

It's the proto trap game, that much for sure.

I f'n hated Rogers dipshit attitude prior but then again....J.E.T.S

But he's doing the right thing - and while we're winning it's working. Steelers D looks to be too healthy, no ******** CB to pick on. Lay the points.

How bad are things when you make a trade IN-Division for a 40 year old QB that didn't look all that good in Cleveland?
How much longer does Zac Taylor keep his job?
To be fair, I don't think any QB would look very good in Cleveland right now. Browns have both the worst pass blocking OT play, and worst WR room on the NFL. I think Flacco is still a decent QB. Like a C- caliber guy.

That said, Taylor is not a good HC and never was. Burrow has carried, thoroughly carried him.

Yep. I think the bigger mismanagement is the fact they went that far thinking Browning is the back up and when it's time for him to be the backup they decide he isn't the backup. Any path that leads your franchise to acquire a 40 year old QB to carry the team at this stage is the season is just downright unforgivable. Imo

key words. add on the road and it's a coin flip at best. I think Bengals follow the GIants from last week with another (relatively mild) upset

careful with Philly....a fraud team isn't competitive at KC, at TB, AND against the LAR, let alone win all 3. W-L records can indeed be misleading, but in this case the point differential might be too. I'm not sure we know what either team (Eagles and Steelers) really are at this relatively early point in the season but we do know Philly has played one of the tougher schedules in the NFL to start the year

Fraud team... did I say that?

Stats might be fraud. Carolina shut out Atlanta... Atlanta beat Buffalo... Carolina going to the Super Bowl?

Inactives announced yet?
For Pittsburgh, WR Calvin Austin III, G Andrus Peat, DL Logan Lee, and DE DeMarvin Leal were deemed inactive, while the Bengals’ inactives for the contest were CB Cam Taylor-Britt, C Matt Lee, WR Jermaine Burton, TE Tanner Hudson, DE Trey Hendrickson, DT McKinnley Jackson, DT Jordan Jefferson, DT Howard Cross III, and DE Shemar Stewart.

I'm starting him with Allen on bye. I really wanted to play Dart but I can't take that gamble with him going up against Denver. I just don't want my QB spot to tank my team this week and I think Rodgers has safer floor.

Cinci +5.5 and I have no idea what the point total in this one is gonna be
I also think at some intervals we will see a few posts about the slight boredom of this football game

We got a 40 and a 41 year old QB starting tonight that most felt were on their way out of the NFL, not starting Thursday Night Football games
But here we are so grab a beer out of the icebox and get ready for to enter the Jungle

i think everything suggests that the steelers will win but I don't think its out of the realm of possibilities the script tonight could call for an upset or make it close and competitive.

If Cincy could have gotten off the field on 3rd down, it could have set the tone for the game. Now it's going to be a long night.
