To all the "experts" who doubted Vince Young (1 Viewer)

Some of you people are ridiculous.... Vince Young is a winner PERIOD....he get's it done one way or the other. He is a leader as a rookie and the team is rallying behind him. A team that should have been a lock for number 1 pick in the upcoming draft. Quit hating, the Titans are no longer going to be rolled over each week.

Last year, when Vanderjagt missed from 46 in the playoff game, Peyton was ripped up and down for not getting closer.
Nice! Vince (a rookie) is already being held to the same or higher standards than Peyton (a highly regarded 9 year veteran with multiple All-Pro and Pro Bowls awards). The haters are going to hate this turn of events so early in Vince's career.
All I said was that a drive that only gets to the 43, with that much time to work with, isn't very impressive. 9 times out of 10, that won't win you the game. This isn't exactly evidence that he's a "WINNER".I've never said I expected more from Vince Young as a rookie or that I expect him to be Peyton Manning. I just wasn't impressed by that last drive. He had a chance to get the team closer and didn't make the plays, and it took a miracle kick to win the game. No big deal. He's a rookie. But I'll probably stay away from these threads from now on, since every Young fan I've encountered will accuse you of some form of prejudice or hatred if you don't think he's the second freakin' comin of Christ.

You would think everyone who watches NFL/VY in particular would see this.Couldn't say it any better than this:

Vince Young went 15-for-25 passing for 163 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's comeback win over the Colts.

The first-year field general sure isn't playing like a rookie. He's quietly won three in a row, and five of the past seven contests now. Young, who racked up a career-high 78 yards rushing on nine carries, will take on the Texans in week 14.

Can't judge a player by ONE drive. Go back and watch the whole game then the final score and come back to this thread and post your comments. Thanks!

I agree. I even said as much:
I haven't seen VY in the NFL before today other than highlights, and I only saw the final drive today, so I'm certainly not going to make any conclusive judgment yet.
Anyway, thanks for making a logical post that didn't accuse me of hating Vince Young because that drive wasn't that great. Maybe there's hope.

While I do believe there's an undercurrent racial bias when some folks critique black qbs, it is ridiculous to accuse every detractor of hatred or racism."Hater" is currently the most overused and ill-used word in the English, imho.

no problem but to be honest if you have only seen one drive I don't know why you would post it. I think it just adds to the VY haters who tend to have never seen him play but love to comment how he isn't a QB who simply wins.

Not sure if I accusing you of prejudice or hatred. YOU held up the play of VY today to Peyton's play in a playoff game last year, it's quoted just a few lines up there. That is, IMO, a very flawed comparison based on what I said above. If you are going to throw analysis of that nature out you had best be ready to handle some feedback.

The point was about what constitutes getting in to acceptably close field goal range, not about Vince vs. Peyton at all. I just happened to remember that playoff game last year. If I had remembered a game where Kurt Kittner got his team in to field goal range and Jay Feely missed, I could have used that.

What you should concentrate when you go back and watch the game is how composed VY is, never gets rattled and when he runs, his stride makes it as if he isn't running very hard (think winning TD vs USC last year) but what's interesting is that unlike most other QB who have run a lot, he doesn't get hit hard and he knows when to run out of bounds. The guy doesn't have happy feet, run with reckless abandonment or even act like he's a rookie who is clueless. Clearly this guy will haunt the Texans, a team that should have not resigned Carr (who clearly isn't nor has "it", that leadership quality) and drafted him instead. This is a rookie QB going against one of, if not THE best team and barely lost the first time this year. He's currently one of the few NFL players that' a pleasure to watch on Sunday. He'll make mistakes like most but for any Titan fan, they have to be down right giddy to have this guy.

Jeez, what did Vince do to you? Did he bang your sister or something?
This just isn't necessary. If you guys can't have a civil conversation about the play on the field without getting personal the thread just won't continue here.Further, the thread is a waste of bandwidth when it becomes more about thumping your chest and telling everyone else you're right and they're wrong. You're entitled to your opinions. Stating it once is enough.
